Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we thank you for coming before the Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach Him and be saved.

We are encouraged by your humble and compassionate heart. You are not boasting and you are not looking down on those who have wronged you, but you are grieving over sin and desiring that even those who oppose you would be saved and transformed. That is the heart of Christ who calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us as we see in Matthew 5:44. We also hear your discernment that education and knowledge of the law does not make a person righteous, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God as we read in Romans 3:23, and only God can give a new heart.

You prayed that the truth shall set them free and we stand on that promise with you, for Jesus said in John 8:32 you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. And we cling to the beautiful promise in Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. It is God Himself who must create that hunger and thirst within them.

We also join you in praying from Psalm 51:16-17 that God does not delight in outward sacrifice but in a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. Only the Holy Spirit can convict of sin and bring that brokenness, and we pray He will do that work. We pray as in Ezekiel 36:26 that God will take away their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh, that they would recognize their sin, hate their sin, and turn from it to live a life that honors Him and regards human life and honest communication.

We lift up together the team you mentioned and their lawyers and legal representatives before the Lord. We pray for their salvation, for God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth as we read in 1 Timothy 2:3-4. We ask that the precious blood of Jesus would cover those who are His and give them peace and understanding that surpasses all understanding as in Philippians 4:7, and that He would teach all involved to be righteous and compassionate. We pray that the Lord would restrain any evil in His eyes and that justice and truth would prevail, for we know in Romans 12:19 that vengeance belongs to the Lord and He will repay, and we are called in Romans 12:21 not to be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good.

We pray together now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. Lord, we thank You for Your holiness and for Your Holy Spirit who intercedes for us. We ask that You would save those who are bound by Satan's lies and bring them into the light of Your truth. Work on their hearts, Father, stir them deeply, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness that only You can satisfy. Grant them a broken and contrite heart that they may see their sin as You see it, repent, and be forgiven through the blood of Jesus. Cover Your chosen ones with Your peace and guard their hearts and minds. Teach us all to walk in righteousness and compassion and to desire Your will above all else. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We exalt the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our salvation, for in John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in this prayer without ceasing as in 1 Thessalonians 5:17. God hears the prayers of the righteous and He is faithful to answer according to His perfect will and timing. Keep hunger for righteousness alive in your own heart as well, trusting that He who began a good work will perfect it.

We were grateful for your prayer and for the humility in it, you are grieving what feels like a disregard for truth and for human life, and at the same time you don't want to boast or look down on anyone. That tension is heavy to carry, and we want to stand with you in it.

Your longing for those involved to develop a real thirst for righteousness is a good and right prayer. We also hear how personal this is for you, not just an abstract concern about justice.

One thing that can help when we keep praying for people who have wronged others is to notice the gap between how we wish things had been handled and how they actually were. That gap can easily turn into rumination and bitterness if we hold it alone. In our own walk we have found it helps to distinguish two parts of forgiveness. One is a decision before God not to pursue revenge and to still see the other person as made in His image. The other is slower, as God over time softens resentment and grows compassion in us. The second part rarely happens all at once.

It may help to keep a simple rhythm as you continue praying, honestly name the hurt to God, consciously entrust justice to Him, and then ask Him to keep your own heart tender and truthful in the places He has placed you.

Father, we bring this team and their counsel before You in Jesus' name. Work in their hearts to bring conviction and a true hatred of sin, and draw any who do not know You to salvation through Christ. Cover Your people with Your peace and keep our friend's heart from bitterness as he seeks You. Let Your will be done, amen.

We join you in this earnest supplication before the throne of grace, and we thank God that He has put into your heart such a thirst for truth and righteousness. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, and that filling is to be found only in Christ.

You have well quoted that word, The truth shall set you free, and you have rightly pleaded that precious Psalm, For Thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it, Thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise. This is the repentance which God accepts. It is not a poor and short lived sorrow which turns from sin for a time and then returns to it with greater gusto, but a true work of the Spirit of God which gives glory to God. The truly penitent gives glory to the omniscience of God and to the righteousness of His law, saying, Thy law is holy and just and good, the fault is with me, for I am carnal, sold under sin. And as it has been said among us, repentance is to leave the sins we loved before, and show that we in earnest grieve, by doing so no more.

We will pray with you for the team of whom you speak, and for their lawyers and legal representatives. We do not ask God to bless any course that is evil in His eyes, nor to prosper dishonesty or disregard for human life and honest communication. We ask instead that the goodness of God, which spares men and bears long with them, may lead them to repentance. We pray that the Lord would work upon their hearts, that He would grant them that godly sorrow which needeth not to be repented of, a complete change of mind with regard to sin, an honest determination by His grace to cease from sin, and a hatred of sin itself because Christ was nailed to the cross for it.

There is no true faith without such repentance, and no true repentance without faith. We pray that they may look to Jesus, who was set forth to be a propitiation for sin, and find there the pardon which is bought with His precious blood. Where there is true repentance, there is the full and free forgiveness of all sins, a pardon for crimes of deepest dye, a pardon bought with Jesus blood, and for all who truly trust Him there is no condemnation. We pray that those who are chosen in Christ may be covered by that blood and kept in peace, and that those who are yet bound by Satan's lies may hear the voice of the Son of Righteousness and live. He alone is the Sun of righteousness, and in Him is everlasting strength and sweetness.

Continue, then, in relentless prayer, and look to Jesus for the increase both of faith and of repentance. True repentance will yield works meet for repentance, it will be practical and lasting, not coming upon a man and going away suddenly, but continuing by the grace of God. Ask the Lord to give to these souls, and to keep alive in your own soul, that unquenchable thirst which loves righteousness for its own sake and chooses it though there were no reward, and hates sin though there were no loss by it.

May the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us stir their hearts, convict them, and draw them to that Saviour who came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance, who gave Himself for our sins. May He teach them to be righteous and compassionate, to love truth, to do justly, and to walk humbly with God.

We commend you and them to Him who delights in mercy, praying that His will be done, and that His name be exalted on high in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is good and pleasing to God, and we join you in it with thanksgiving.

Christ Himself stood and cried, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me and drink. He does not draw by necessity and constraint, but He calls those who are inflamed with desire, who come as thirsty men come to water. As it is written, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. This hunger must not be casual or half hearted, but pursued with all desire, as a thirsty man eagerly drains the bowl and longs for more. That you ask for this thirst for yourself and for others is a sign of grace already at work.

We pray with you for the team you named and for their lawyers and representatives. It is true, as you have seen, that education and knowledge of the law cannot make a person righteous. There was of old a righteousness that was only a figure, but the true righteousness is in holiness of truth, created anew in Christ. No breastplate is so impenetrable as a life of universal virtue rooted in Him, and no learning can replace it. We ask the Lord to show them this, to bring them from lies into truth, for the truth shall indeed set them free when it is received in Christ.

We also pray as you did from Psalm 51, that God would grant a broken and contrite heart. The sacrifice God will not despise is a contrite spirit, a heart that is broken and humbled, that does not rise up to strike or to avenge itself, but is ready to be corrected and to turn from sin. We ask the Father to work in these hearts so that they may recognize sin, hate it, and turn from it, that they may no longer do what is evil in His eyes and no longer disregard human life and honest communication.

We ask for the covering of the precious blood of Christ over those who are His, and for peace and understanding for them. And for those who are still bound, we pray for salvation in the only way it is given, that if they confess with their mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, they shall be saved. The word is near, and the way is short, for faith holds salvation in a few words and brings with it both salvation and righteousness.

We thank God with you for the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us. We will continue to pray that the Lord will stir all these hearts, that He will give an unquenchable thirst for righteousness and teach compassion, and that His will be done. Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is right and good, and we join you in it. The desire you express is one that God Himself creates in a heart that has seen itself honestly before Him.

You quoted Psalm 51 well. God does not delight in outward sacrifice alone. What He desires and will not despise is a broken spirit and a contrite heart. That is true repentance, a heart that recognizes sin, hates it, and turns from it. It is that work in the heart that you are rightly asking God to do in those you are praying for, that He would soften what is hard and awaken a conscience that has become dull.

Scripture reminds us that people look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. Education, position, or knowledge of the law does not make a person righteous. A person can have a form of knowledge and yet lack the truth lived out in the life. Jesus warned about a righteousness that is only outward, polished on the outside while the heart remains unchanged. God is not impressed by outward show. He wants truth in the inward parts and a heart kept with diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

That is why your prayer for a thirst for righteousness matters so much. Jesus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. When we see ourselves as God sees us, we realize our own righteousness is not enough and we cannot please God in our own strength. That realization creates a hunger not for our own goodness, but for His. That hunger is a turning point, because God promises to fill those who truly seek His righteousness.

That righteousness is not attained by trying to establish our own goodness through the law. Scripture teaches that the righteousness which is of faith is near us, in our mouth and in our heart, and it comes through believing in Jesus Christ. With the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We cannot earn it, we receive it as we trust in Christ and His shed blood.

You also prayed that the truth would set them free, and Jesus said exactly that. The judgment of God is according to truth, because God knows what is in every heart. A lying tongue is only for a moment, but the lip of truth shall be established forever, and the Lord delights in those who speak truth. Every other thirst, whether physical or emotional, leaves us thirsty again, but the spiritual thirst for God and for what is right is the one He alone can satisfy. Only Christ can give the living water that truly quenches.

So we will continue to pray with you that God would work in these hearts, bring conviction of sin, grant repentance, and create that deep and lasting thirst for truth and righteousness. We pray that those who do not yet know Christ would come to salvation through Him alone, and that those who are His would be covered by His blood, kept in His peace, and taught to walk with compassion and integrity. May God search each heart, lead each one in the way everlasting, and cause His will to be done.
