Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord in Jesus name.

We love your heart for those who are still bound by lies and for those who are chosen in Christ that they would be covered by His blood and kept in peace and understanding. It is right to pray in this way for we are taught to pray for all men, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:3-4. We also remember that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23, and that even the educated and learned are not righteous apart from Christ, for there is none righteous, no not one, Romans 3:10.

You have prayed rightly that the truth shall set them free, as Jesus said, You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free, John 8:32. Only Jesus can break the power of Satan's lies, for we know that the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, 2 Corinthians 4:4, and that God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may recover themselves out of the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will, 2 Timothy 2:25-26. We share your grief over the disregard for human life and honest communication, for the Lord hates lying lips but delights in those who act faithfully, Proverbs 12:22.

We agree with your plea from Psalm 51:16-17 that God does not delight in sacrifice but in a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart He will not despise. This is the work only God can do, to take away the stony heart and give a new heart and put a new spirit within, Ezekiel 36:26. And we cling to the promise that blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, Matthew 5:6. May the Lord birth that very hunger in them.

So we pray together with you.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You would give to that team and to their lawyers and legal representatives an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness. Lord, convict their hearts of sin and grant them godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Where they have walked in lies, dishonesty, and disregard for life, bring them into the light of Your truth. For those who are Yours, cover them with the precious blood of Jesus, guard them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, Philippians 4:7, and teach them to be righteous and compassionate as You are compassionate. Give them wisdom and understanding and keep them from doing what is evil in Your eyes. Create in them a broken and contrite heart that hates sin and turns from it completely. We ask that Your Holy Spirit who intercedes for us according to Your will, Romans 8:26, would stir them and draw them to Yourself, that they would know Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life, John 14:6, and be set free indeed. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, Matthew 6:10, and may Your name be exalted. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in intercession without growing weary, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up, Galatians 6:9. The Lord hears the prayers of the righteous and He is faithful to work even when we do not see the fruit immediately. Keep praying with humility and compassion, not looking down on others but remembering we too were once in darkness and were shown mercy, Titus 3:3-5, and trust that God is able to work on hearts that seem hard.

We were grateful to read your prayer for a thirst for truth and righteousness to take hold. We hear the weight you are carrying as you watch people you hoped would act with integrity instead disregard honesty and human life, and we hear your desire not to look down on them but to see their hearts changed.

Choosing to pray for those who have wronged others, asking God to work in them rather than holding onto a desire to get even, is a meaningful decision. Even when that decision is sincere, the grief, anger and disappointment you named can still linger for a long time. The hurt does not always lift at the same moment the decision is made. It often eases gradually as we keep turning the matter over to God instead of replaying it, and as we allow Him to soften both their hearts and ours.

One thing that may help in the days ahead is to keep bringing that one central request before the Lord in a simple, steady way, perhaps at the same time each day, and then consciously leaving the outcome with Him rather than carrying the burden alone through the day. If you find bitterness rising again, it does not mean your prayer was not real, only that your heart is still healing.

Father, we lift this legal team and their representatives to You and ask that You would give them a true hunger for what is right and true, and bring conviction where it is needed. We ask You to cover Your people with Your peace and keep this one who is praying tender toward You and not hardened by what has happened. We entrust them all to Your will and Your mercy in Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your earnest supplication and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace, in the name of Jesus Christ alone, through whom alone salvation is found.

Your prayer that the Lord would give an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is a prayer after His own heart. Our Lord has said, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. This is not a slight desire, but a deep craving of the soul, as a man hungers for bread and thirsts for water. When the Spirit of God creates this hunger, trifles become trifles, and the essential Truth of God becomes our only care. Man must be cured of his ardor for earthly pursuits before he can feel fervor for heavenly ones, and when that new affection is given, the old hunger for pride and gain and self is driven out. To hunger thus is to have fellowship with Christ in His heart's desire, for He consumed with zeal for righteousness, crying, Lord, cast down idols, chase error from the earth, and turn men from sin.

You have prayed rightly that those who are bound by lies and who disregard human life and honest communication may come to a broken and contrite heart. The Psalmist has taught us, Thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it, thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Genuine sorrow for sin is no mere sentiment. It is a spiritual brokenness on account of sin, which the Lord Himself must work. He who binds up the broken hearted knows your temptations and your sorrows, and best of all He has chosen One whose own heart was broken for us. Jesus died with a broken heart, that He might heal the broken in heart. He was made sin for us, though He knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. There was before the bar of Justice an absolute transfer of guilt from His elect to Himself, and now we stand accepted not for anything we are or shall be, but wholly through His blood and righteousness.

Therefore we pray with you, and we urge you to continue in relentless prayer, that the Holy Spirit would work upon the hearts of these men and women, lawyers and all who are concerned, to convince them of sin, to give them that brokenness which loathes sin and turns from it, and to create within them a true hunger and thirst after the righteousness which is in Christ Jesus. May they see that forgiveness is not found in learning nor in position, for the educated may yet fall short of the glory of God, but in the great atoning Sacrifice alone. May they be taught to be righteous and compassionate, not by mere resolve, but by being made new creatures in Christ, partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.

Remember also that the Lord Jesus Christ lives to pray for sinners. He intercedes even now, and the Holy Spirit intercedes for us and for them. If this Truth is fully believed, it should bring peace to your own troubled heart. Do not be troubled for nothing, but battle with despondency, and look to Him whose stripes heal us and whose welts take out the lines of sin.

May the Lord fulfill His promise in them, that those who hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled without stint, and may He cover with His precious blood all who are His, giving peace and understanding according to His will. We commend them and you to His sovereign mercy, praying that His will be done, and that His name be exalted on high in Christ Jesus. Amen.
