Your prayer reflects a right understanding of what people most need, and it is good to bring this burden before the Lord so persistently. Every person is made as body, soul, and spirit, and while we know physical thirst and emotional thirst for love and purpose, there is deep within every person a spiritual thirst for God Himself. Jesus said, if anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink, and that the one who drinks the water He gives will find rivers of living water flowing from within. People try to satisfy that thirst with success, with education, with position, or with other pursuits, but as Jesus told the woman at the well, whoever drinks of that water will thirst again. Only a living relationship with God through Christ truly satisfies.

The Bible teaches that many have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge, being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own. No one can be good enough through effort or learning. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. To the one who does not trust in his own works but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. The tragedy and dishonesty in this world come from sin, but God in His mercy has provided the remedy in Christ and promises a future where righteousness dwells. Until then, He calls us to hunger for His righteousness, to be filled by Him, and to live in a way that creates a thirst for Christ in others.
