Relaxation, efficiency, to do list

Natasha 2

Beloved of All
Rest and relaxation of my body.

Being extreemely efficient in everything i do.

My to do list and what i have not put on the list and whats important to be easily smootgely and quickly done today and this week according to the necessity.

We join with you in bringing this need before the Lord, asking for true rest for your body as well as grace and efficiency for all that is before you today and this week.

We understand the tension you feel between needing rest and relaxation and also wanting to be extremely efficient and to see your to do list, even the things not yet written down, completed smoothly, quickly and according to what is most necessary. Scripture speaks to both of these needs and shows us that God cares about both our rest and our work. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. And we are reminded in Psalm 127:2, It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. True rest is a gift from God, not just physical relaxation but peace for the soul when we trust Him. At the same time God calls us to diligence, as it is written in Colossians 3:23, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, and in Proverbs 16:3, Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall be established.

We encourage you not to carry this burden in your own strength or to become anxious about being perfectly efficient. In Philippians 4:6-7 we read, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We also remember Matthew 6:33, But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. When we seek Him first and commit our lists and our time to Him, He helps us discern what is truly important and establishes the work of our hands as Psalm 90:17 says, Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find both rest and help. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To come to God we must believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again, and trust Him as Lord and Savior. It is in His name we pray and find grace for every need.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. We ask You to grant deep rest and relaxation to their body, to renew their strength and to give peaceful sleep and refreshment. We ask You to anoint their work with efficiency and clarity, not by anxious striving but by Your wisdom and grace. Guide them to know what is most important today and this week, even the things not yet on their list, and cause what needs to be done to be done smoothly, easily and quickly according to Your perfect will. Help them to commit every task to You, to work heartily as unto You, and to trust You with the outcome. Let Your peace guard their heart and mind and let Your favor establish the work of their hands. We pray all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We hear how much you want both things at once, real rest for your body and a clear, efficient way through everything that needs doing this week. That tension is familiar, wanting to be faithful with your time while also feeling rested and steady.

One thing we have found helpful is that efficiency and rest work together instead of competing. When we try to do everything at the same level of urgency, both suffer. It often helps to let necessity set the order, what truly needs to happen today, what can wait until later this week, and what has not made it onto the list yet but is quietly weighing on you.

A simple next step that may help tonight or in the morning is to take a few quiet minutes to get it all on paper. Write down what is on your list and add anything else that has been on your mind. Then circle just two or three things that are most necessary for today, and two or three for the week. Keep those goals realistic and in priority order, and let the rest stay off to the side for now. As you do, build in a couple of short pauses for rest on purpose, not as an afterthought, so your body has space to recover while you work.

We are praying for you in this.

Father, we bring our friend to You and ask for rest for their body and clarity for their mind. Give wisdom to sort what is most necessary today and this week, and grace to do that work steadily and peacefully. Provide refreshment and strength as they walk through each task. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing for rest of body and for your daily labour to be done smoothly and well is one which the Lord regards with tender care, for He Himself has appointed both rest and work for His people.

There is a rest which is first and best, without which no other rest can truly refresh you. Our Lord Jesus says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This is a present rest, rest now, not rest after death only, but rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. We who have believed do enter into rest. It is not the rest of carelessness, quite the opposite, but the rest of a soul that has laid its burden of sin and care down where Christ bore it, and now sits under the promise and rejoices in Him. If you are in a right state of heart you may say, the Lord Jesus Christ is mine and the providence of God is mine for this world and for that which is to come, and you shall find your mind kept in a sense of security and calm, a fixed belief in the teachings of the Divine Spirit and in the Gospel.

Then there is a second rest which follows the first, for He says also, Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. The first is rest given, the second is rest found. It is the rest of a learner at the Saviour's feet, and the rest of one who wears His yoke and bears His burden. The yoke is not idleness, and the rest of heaven is not the rest of sleep, for they serve Him day and night in His temple. Holy activity in Him is perfect rest. So true efficiency is not mere haste or the hurrying of the flesh, but faithful stewardship. It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful. He is to protect his Master's goods and to dispense them in due proportion and in due season, not in a loose and slovenly way, but with diligence and grace, remembering that the Lord will come and will ask an account.

I will pray for you that the Lord will grant you this twofold rest and make you a faithful steward of this day and of this week.

May the Lord give refreshment to your body and quietness to your spirit, and cause you to rest in Him as it is written, Rest in the Lord. May He lift from you every needless care and teach you to lay down where Christ laid your load all that now presses upon you. May He give you wisdom to order your to do list according to necessity, to see what is most needful and to do it with a calm and ready hand, and may He not forget those things which you have not put upon the list but which are yet important in His sight. May He make your work to be done easily and smoothly and quickly as His providence appoints, not for haste alone but for faithfulness, that you may bring forth every duty in its season and find that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. May you learn of Him through the day, and so find rest even in labour, until your holy activity itself becomes rest, and you are kept in time and presented faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is Himself our rest and our reward.
