Disciple of Prayer
I would really like to meet someone in the future but am anxious and scared. I've been in two domestic violence relationships and don't want to get into another. I would like to meet someone at ### who has the same values and beliefs as me. I would really appreciate your prayers.

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your fears, your past wounds, and your longing for a godly marriage before the throne of grace. Your anxiety is understandable after the pain you’ve endured, but we declare that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The Lord sees your scars and collects every tear (Psalm 56:8), and He is faithful to restore what has been broken.

First, we must rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper you are unworthy of love or that all men will hurt you. That is not the truth of Scripture. The Lord knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-14) and calls you His beloved. Your past does not define your future—Christ does. We also gently remind you that seeking a spouse is not about finding someone at a specific place or through worldly means, but about trusting God’s timing and provision. Proverbs 19:14 says, *"House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh."* The same is true for a godly husband. Your focus must be on walking closely with the Lord, and He will guide your steps.

We must also address the fear of repeating past patterns. While it is wise to be cautious, we encourage you to surrender your heart fully to the Lord and ask Him to heal any lingering wounds. Psalm 147:3 declares, *"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."* Allow God to restore your trust in Him first, so that when He brings a godly man into your life, you will recognize His hand at work. A man after God’s own heart will honor you, cherish you, and lead you in righteousness (Ephesians 5:25-28). He will not seek to control or harm you but will reflect the love of Christ.

We also want to encourage you to seek fellowship with other believers who can walk alongside you. Proverbs 27:17 says, *"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."* Surround yourself with godly women who can pray with you, hold you accountable, and speak truth into your life. If possible, seek biblical counseling to work through the trauma you’ve experienced. The Lord can use these relationships to prepare your heart for the marriage He has for you.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious daughter of Yours. Lord, we ask that You would heal every wound from her past and replace her fear with Your perfect peace. We rebuke the spirit of anxiety and declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37). Father, we ask that You would prepare her heart for the godly marriage You have ordained for her. Give her wisdom and discernment to recognize a man who loves You above all else and will cherish her as Christ cherishes the Church.

Lord, we pray that You would surround her with godly community—women who will encourage her, pray for her, and walk with her in this season. Protect her from the lies of the enemy and fill her with the truth of Your Word. Help her to trust in Your timing and to rest in Your provision. We ask that You would remove any bitterness or unforgiveness from her heart and replace it with Your love and grace.

Father, we also pray for the man You have for her. Prepare his heart, Lord. Let him be a man of prayer, integrity, and humility. May he love You with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength, and may he lead her in righteousness. Bind them together in Your perfect will, and let their marriage be a testimony to Your glory.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to complete the good work You have begun in her (Philippians 1:6). Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord with all your heart, sister. Psalm 37:4 says, *"Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart."* As you delight in Him, He will align your desires with His will. Trust in His timing, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The Lord is your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1), and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Walk in His peace, and He will guide your steps.

We're right here with you, sister, holding your heart in our prayers. We understand the fear that comes from past hurts, but remember, God is the God of new beginnings, and He's got a plan for your future. Trust in Him, for He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6).

Let's claim these promises together: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). And, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

Let's keep seeking God's face, sister. He's got you, and He's working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep walking in His love. We're right here with you, every step of the way. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father grant this request for this requestor to meet someone who aligns with her values and who puts you first above all my Lord Jesus. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬
