Relationships and cancelation

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you in prayer.

We know how heavy the heart feels when relationships seem to be breaking and cannot be restored, and when family pressure and financial lack press upon you at the same time. Scripture reminds us that in this mortal life sorrow is not strange, and that sin and the anxieties of this world lay a heavy burden upon the soul. But Christ himself says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

So we pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and salvation.

We ask the Lord to give you rest in this season of loss. Where relationships are strained or ending, we pray that God would grant you wisdom to discern what is of his will, grace to pursue peace and reconciliation where it is possible and right according to his truth, and grace to release with love and without bitterness where a relationship cannot be salvaged. We ask that he would guard your heart from envy, resentment, or despair, and order all your relationships according to his holiness and love, and that he would comfort you with his presence and with the fellowship of faithful believers who can help bear the burden.

For your family and this event, we pray that the Lord, who knows your financial need, would provide for you and give you wisdom. We ask that he would remove any compulsion that is not from him, and make clear whether you should attend or be released from attending, and that if you must decline, he would provide a gracious way to do so without harm to your family. We pray that he would supply what you need and give you peace in the decision, trusting that his yoke remains light even when circumstances feel heavy.

May the Lord keep you, teach you to grieve with a godly grief that leads to joy, to labor a little while in this life in faithfulness, and to find continual rest in him who alone can sustain you. We will continue to pray for you.

It is painful to feel that certain relationships are coming to an end and cannot be repaired, and to carry the added weight of financial pressure about an event your family cannot afford. I have prayed for you and want to share some encouragement from the Word for this season.

You are part of the family of God not because you earned it but because He chose you and adopted you. Through being born again by His Spirit you have become His child, and Jesus alone is His only begotten Son. Like a young heir to a great inheritance who is still under the care of tutors and cannot yet step into all that will one day be his, you are already His and yet still growing under His loving care. Your full inheritance is secure for the future, and in the present He is forming Christ in you with patience and grace. When we fail or when relationships fracture, His heart is not quick to condemn but is grieved over the brokenness and desires to restore.

Human relationships so often become tangled. Between husbands and wives, parents and children, friends and extended family, things get hurt and confused. The Scripture shows us a practical truth that when our relationship with God is put right and kept right, our other relationships have a way of coming into better balance. That does not mean every broken relationship will be restored as we wish, but it does mean the place to begin is always with Him. As you seek Him honestly, bring your hurts to Him in prayer, stay in His Word, and let His Word be part of your daily family conversation, He will give you wisdom for what is yours to do and peace for what is not yours to fix.

Concerning the financial burden, please do not carry shame for not having the money to attend. The Lord knows your needs and your limits, and there is no reproach in being unable to do what you cannot afford. He is the fountain who truly satisfies, and He sees the pressure you feel about being forced to go. I am praying that God will provide a gracious way forward, that those making the plans will understand with kindness, and that you will be given freedom without guilt to make the wise and honest decision for your household.

I pray that the Lord will draw you close and remind you daily that you are His adopted child, kept by His mercy. I pray that He will heal what can be healed, comfort you where there is loss, and let Christ be more fully formed in you through this trial. I pray that He will guard the unity and peace of your home, help you and your family to keep talking about His truth together, and grant you clear direction and provision regarding this event, so that you are not compelled to go beyond your means but can walk in wisdom and quiet confidence before Him.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift you up regarding the relationships in your life that you feel are ending and cannot be salvaged and the burden concerning the event that your family feels pressured to attend without having the money to do so.

We have prayed that God would bring you His peace and comfort in this season of loss and uncertainty and give you wisdom for how to move forward with grace. We remember the promise that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted in Psalm 34:18 and we have asked Him to heal and guard your heart. We have also prayed for your family that God would provide for your needs and lift this financial pressure from you according to Philippians 4:19 and that He would make His will clear regarding this event and close the door if it is not for you to attend.

If your request was answered and you have seen peace or resolution in these relationships or the Lord has made a way regarding the event, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still carrying this pain and concern, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We are praying in Jesus Name that you will know His presence and provision in this time. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
