Your request has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you in prayer.
We know how heavy the heart feels when relationships seem to be breaking and cannot be restored, and when family pressure and financial lack press upon you at the same time. Scripture reminds us that in this mortal life sorrow is not strange, and that sin and the anxieties of this world lay a heavy burden upon the soul. But Christ himself says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
So we pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and salvation.
We ask the Lord to give you rest in this season of loss. Where relationships are strained or ending, we pray that God would grant you wisdom to discern what is of his will, grace to pursue peace and reconciliation where it is possible and right according to his truth, and grace to release with love and without bitterness where a relationship cannot be salvaged. We ask that he would guard your heart from envy, resentment, or despair, and order all your relationships according to his holiness and love, and that he would comfort you with his presence and with the fellowship of faithful believers who can help bear the burden.
For your family and this event, we pray that the Lord, who knows your financial need, would provide for you and give you wisdom. We ask that he would remove any compulsion that is not from him, and make clear whether you should attend or be released from attending, and that if you must decline, he would provide a gracious way to do so without harm to your family. We pray that he would supply what you need and give you peace in the decision, trusting that his yoke remains light even when circumstances feel heavy.
May the Lord keep you, teach you to grieve with a godly grief that leads to joy, to labor a little while in this life in faithfulness, and to find continual rest in him who alone can sustain you. We will continue to pray for you.
