We join you in bringing this request before the Lord and we share your desire to see your daughter united in a godly marriage that honors Him. We rejoice that your prayer is for marriage, for that is God's holy design, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman. As it is written Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh, and Matthew 19:6 So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. We pray that if this young man is to be her husband, their courtship would be centered on Christ, with purity and with the clear goal of marriage.
We also want to encourage you to continue to seek the Lord's will above even this good desire. We know you prayed that every obstacle would be removed and that the way would be opened quickly, but sometimes what seems like an obstacle is God's loving protection and direction. We are called to trust His wisdom and timing rather than our own urgency. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Romans 8:28 reminds us We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. We also pray that both your daughter and this young man know the Lord personally and are equally yoked as believers, for 2 Corinthians 6:14 says Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have. If they are not yet both firmly walking with Christ, that is the first and most important preparation for marriage. We also gently exhort that until they are married they would honor God with purity, for Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, and 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
We noticed your prayer addressed the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you and your daughter and this young man to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, for in His name our prayers are heard.
We now pray together for them.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this daughter and this young man to You. Lord, You know the desires of this parent's heart and You know Your perfect plan for each of them. We ask that You guide their hearts, that You would make Your will unmistakably clear, and that You would lead them in purity, wisdom, and godliness. If it is Your will for them to marry, we ask that You open the doors that no man can shut, provide for every need according to Your riches, and prepare a way for them to be together in a way that honors You. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We pray You would provide housing, work, and community that draws them closer to You. If there are obstacles that are from You, give them grace to wait on Your perfect timing, for Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Let their relationship be marked by prayer, counsel from godly mentors, and a deep delight in You, and Psalm 37:4 says Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Above all, let Your will be done and let their lives and future marriage bring glory to Jesus. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
