Disciple of Prayer
Lord, please open the doors for ### to move near my daughter and prepare the way for them to marry soon. Guide their hearts, remove every obstacle, provide what they need, and let Your will and perfect timing be fulfilled. Amen.

We join you in bringing this request before the Lord and we share your desire to see your daughter united in a godly marriage that honors Him. We rejoice that your prayer is for marriage, for that is God's holy design, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman. As it is written Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh, and Matthew 19:6 So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. We pray that if this young man is to be her husband, their courtship would be centered on Christ, with purity and with the clear goal of marriage.

We also want to encourage you to continue to seek the Lord's will above even this good desire. We know you prayed that every obstacle would be removed and that the way would be opened quickly, but sometimes what seems like an obstacle is God's loving protection and direction. We are called to trust His wisdom and timing rather than our own urgency. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Romans 8:28 reminds us We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. We also pray that both your daughter and this young man know the Lord personally and are equally yoked as believers, for 2 Corinthians 6:14 says Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have. If they are not yet both firmly walking with Christ, that is the first and most important preparation for marriage. We also gently exhort that until they are married they would honor God with purity, for Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, and 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

We noticed your prayer addressed the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you and your daughter and this young man to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, for in His name our prayers are heard.

We now pray together for them.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this daughter and this young man to You. Lord, You know the desires of this parent's heart and You know Your perfect plan for each of them. We ask that You guide their hearts, that You would make Your will unmistakably clear, and that You would lead them in purity, wisdom, and godliness. If it is Your will for them to marry, we ask that You open the doors that no man can shut, provide for every need according to Your riches, and prepare a way for them to be together in a way that honors You. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We pray You would provide housing, work, and community that draws them closer to You. If there are obstacles that are from You, give them grace to wait on Your perfect timing, for Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Let their relationship be marked by prayer, counsel from godly mentors, and a deep delight in You, and Psalm 37:4 says Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Above all, let Your will be done and let their lives and future marriage bring glory to Jesus. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this tender request for your daughter. It is beautiful to hear a parent covering a future marriage in prayer and asking above all for God's will and timing to lead.

We know the waiting and the logistics of a move and wedding plans can feel heavy, especially when you long to see things come together. We join you in asking God to make His path clear and to give both of them wisdom, unity and peace as they seek Him.

A practical way we have seen God bring clarity in this season is through steady, unhurried conversation with trusted pastoral counsel. If your daughter and ### are not already connected with a pastor or mature couple for premarital guidance, gently encouraging that step can give them space to talk through expectations, finances, faith and timing with wisdom around them. It also gives you a way to support without carrying the weight alone.

Father, we lift this daughter and ### to You in Jesus' name. Guide their hearts, provide for their needs, and open or close doors according to Your perfect will. Give them patience and clarity, and give this parent peace as they entrust them to You. Lead them step by step. Amen.

We join you in bringing this request for your daughter and for this man before the throne of grace, asking that the Lord in His mercy would guide them according to His perfect will.

There is great comfort in remembering that as surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, all things are under regulation and have an appointed place in His plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. It is wise and right, then, not simply to say we will do this or that, that we will move, that we will marry and gain what we desire, but to feel in our hearts, if the Lord wills. Knowing this keeps us from foolish confidence and teaches us to wait upon His providence.

So we may combine the two prayers our Saviour teaches us, I will, yet not as I will. We may come with holy boldness as children to a Father and say, Father, we desire this good thing, and yet we bend before Your will, saying, not as we will, but as You will. This is the sure way to have our way, when our way is God's way. The work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and make us willing in the day of His power, working in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

We pray, then, in submission to that sovereign will, that if it be pleasing to Him, He would open the doors for this man to move nearer, remove every obstacle according to His wisdom, and provide what is needed for such a step. Above all we ask that He would guide their hearts into a true knowledge of salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we must be saved, and that He would prepare them for holy marriage as He has ordained it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, to be entered reverently and kept faithfully.

We ask that while they wait upon the Lord's timing they may walk uprightly before Him, for no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly, and that they would honor Him by keeping themselves pure, reserving the gift of living together and of the marriage bed for within that covenant alone. May they seek first to do His will and to promote His glory, and may their best profit be found in doing what pleases Him.

God's promise may tarry, but it never fails. He will come to the deliverance of His people in the time of trouble and will bestow upon them all good things in His season. May He give you patience to wait, faith to trust His heart when His hand seems slow, and grace to say from the heart, let Your will and perfect timing be fulfilled.

We ask the Lord to work in them both a willing and obedient heart, to establish them in Christ, and to order their steps so that whether this door opens or remains closed, His name would be hallowed and His will be done. Amen.
