Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for ### and I relationship. I’m praying for God to work on both our hearts so we can learn love and shows it consistently. I’m praying for us to get married.

We hear your heart’s longing for a godly marriage, and we join you in lifting this relationship before the Lord. Marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is right to desire a union that honors God in every way. We pray that if this relationship is His will, He would prepare both of your hearts to love one another as He loves, with patience, kindness, humility, and selflessness (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

Father, we ask You to soften and align both of their hearts to Your perfect plan. If this is a relationship You have ordained, we pray for wisdom, purity, and a shared commitment to Your Word. Guard their hearts and minds from temptation, especially the sin of fornication, which dishonors You and the sanctity of marriage (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). May they flee from sexual immorality and instead pursue holiness, honoring You with their bodies and their relationship. If marriage is Your will, we ask that You bring it to pass in Your perfect timing, not their own.

We also lift up any areas where their love may fall short of Your standard. Help them to speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), to forgive as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13), and to serve one another in humility (Philippians 2:3-4). If there are ungodly patterns, such as selfishness, pride, or emotional unfaithfulness, we rebuke those strongholds in Jesus’ name and ask You to replace them with Your peace and righteousness.

Lord, we declare that only in Your will is there true fulfillment. If this relationship is not part of Your plan, we pray for the courage and faith to surrender it to You, trusting that Your ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Give them both the strength to walk in obedience, even if it means letting go of what they desire for what You desire.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). It is only through His sacrifice and resurrection that we have access to Your throne, and it is by His name alone that we are saved (Acts 4:12). May their relationship, whether together or apart, bring glory to You and draw them both closer to Your heart. Amen.

We love that you’re both asking God to shape your hearts, that’s the kind of prayer that doesn’t just prepare you for a wedding but for a lifetime of wholehearted love. What you’re wanting (learning to love and show it consistently) takes more than good intentions; it takes getting to know the specific ways your partner actually receives love.

One practical step that has helped so many couples we know is simply discovering each other’s primary love language. One person might need words of affirmation to feel loved, while the other feels it most through quality time or acts of service. When we assume our own “language” is the only one, we can miss each other completely even while trying hard. Notice what your partner requests most often or complains about, those are clues. Then practice speaking that language daily, even in small ways. That consistent showing of love often reopens hearts that have grown guarded.

Along with that, keep making your relationship a safe place to be honest. The more both of you feel emotionally safe, the easier it is to stay open with each other rather than pull back. That safety doesn’t come from everything being perfect; it comes from how you handle the imperfect moments together.

We’re glad you’re not rushing this but inviting God into the center of it. He cares about your hearts even more than you do.

Jesus, please do the deep work in both of them that they’re asking for. Teach them to love in ways the other truly receives, and build a consistency that reflects your faithfulness. Protect them from discouragement, give them wisdom in each conversation, and lead their relationship in the direction that honors you. Amen.

The bond you desire is one not of natural birth, but of deliberate, blessed choice, a union where two souls, having been drawn by a greater Love, willingly cleave to one another. Settle it in your minds that a marriage made in the sight of God springs from this mutual election, and it is a true marriage only when He is the silent third partner, turning the double cord into a threefold one that cannot quickly be broken.

Yet this cord is cemented by nothing less than mutual love. Without it, the closest proximity becomes a furnace of misery; with it, the humblest estate becomes the vestibule of heaven. But do not look to your own frail hearts to manufacture this steady flame. The love that truly welds two spirits must first be a spark from the eternal fire of God’s own heart. You are praying for Him to work on both your hearts, this is the very cry of wisdom. For the love that can bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, and endure all things is not unearthed from the dust of our nature; it drops like honey from the comb of His immeasurable love, constraining us because He first loved us.

Let your prayer, then, rise into a holy practice. You ask for consistency, prove your desire by setting your love to its full exercise. Love grows not by idly sitting for a portrait, but by active, practical service. Give your affections a stage upon which to move. Tell your Savior in the secret place why you love the one He has set before you; rehearse the deeds of grace you see in that soul. And then, turn and show that same rehearsal of kindness in the daily bread of life, for Jonathan’s love was not a matter of mere talk, it was real, practical, active. Let your affection be a love which never fails in the little things, for it is in the daily drippings of thoughtful tenderness that the honeycomb is filled.

Approach this hope of marriage not as a conquest to be won, but as a banquet of love to be enjoyed soberly and with reverent delight. Our Lord invites our deepest affections, saying, “Eat, O friends! Drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.” So should it be between those who hope to mirror Christ and His church. Delight in one another, finding in the other’s character a reflection of the beauty you adore in your Redeemer. But take care never to prize the rings upon the fingers of mercy more than the face of the Giver. Let the love that draws you together drive you both closer to His pierced feet, so that your first affection, the great rudder of your soul, remains fastened upon the love of Christ which passes knowledge.

Do you truly love? Then look to Him, from whom radiates the very thought of true affection, and lament when love grows cold. If the flame within you flickers or burns low, run to the love of God in Christ Jesus. For when He chides us for withholding our love-tokens, it is because He values our love and is grieved when it grows cold. Ask Him, then, to blow upon the embers with the breath of His Spirit until a consecrated fire devours all selfishness. Pledge your fidelity not in your own strength, but by hiding yourselves in the cleft of that Rock where faithfulness was forever established. Thus, bound together by ties of mutual love that excel every earthly pattern, you shall find your union edging ever closer to the harmonies of glory, where we shall perfectly rehearse the lesson of love we but stammer here below.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The desire for marriage is good, and Scripture honors the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. Marriage is not a hindrance to the kingdom; the hindrance is the purpose that uses marriage badly. So I will pray for you both, not chiefly that you get married on your own terms, but that God works in your hearts to love as He commands. That love is patient, kind, does not seek its own, does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It is the beginning and end of virtue, and it must be learned through self denial, not through satisfying every desire before its time.

But I must speak plainly. If you and the one you hope to marry are not married and are already living as though you were, sharing a home or a bed, then that part of the relationship is not something God can bless. Marriage is pure, but it does not make an already impure union holy after the fact. Holiness before marriage means reserving what belongs only to marriage. If there has been sin, the first prayer is not for a wedding but for repentance, for the grace to stop, and for cleansing through Jesus Christ.

So I will pray that if you are walking in chastity, God would lead you into a holy marriage and make your love consistent. And if you are not walking in chastity, I will pray that God would break the sin, grant you godly sorrow, and restore you to purity before any wedding is spoken of. Do not ask God to bless a situation that runs against His will. Ask Him to conform both your hearts to His Son, and then even marriage can be used with moderation for the glory of God.
