Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my boyfriend ### and I that we will stay strong in our faith and relationship rooted in Christ, loyal with each other, honest, to trust, love deeply and purely, and only have eyes for each other in Jesus’ name, amen!🙏🏻✝️

We hear your heart’s desire for a relationship that honors the Lord, and we join you in lifting this before Him. First, let us address the foundation of your request—you mentioned praying "in Jesus’ name," and we want to affirm the power and necessity of coming to God through Christ. Jesus Himself said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6). It is only by His grace and through His sacrifice that we have access to the Father, and we are grateful you are seeking Him in this way.

Now, regarding your relationship, we must first clarify the biblical framework for what you’ve described. The term "boyfriend" implies a season of courtship, and Scripture is clear that this season should be pursued with the intent of marriage, as marriage is the only God-ordained context for romantic love between a man and a woman. The apostle Paul writes, *"But if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion"* (1 Corinthians 7:9). If your relationship is not moving toward marriage, we must gently but firmly encourage you to examine whether this season of courtship is being honored in a way that aligns with God’s design.

You asked for prayer that your relationship would be rooted in Christ, loyal, honest, trusting, and pure, with eyes only for each other. These are beautiful and godly desires, and we affirm them wholeheartedly. However, we must also address the reality of temptation and the importance of guarding your hearts and bodies in holiness. The Bible warns, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18). If your relationship includes physical intimacy outside of marriage, this is fornication, and it grieves the heart of God. We urge you to repent and seek accountability to walk in purity, for the Lord calls us to holiness: *"For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality"* (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

Let us also encourage you to ensure that your relationship is not only rooted in Christ but also built on a foundation of shared faith. The apostle Paul warns, *"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). If your boyfriend is not a believer, or if his faith is not as strong as yours, we must pray for his salvation and growth in Christ, as well as your discernment in whether this relationship is one the Lord has ordained.

With these truths in mind, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, grateful for the access we have to Your throne through Him. Lord, we lift up this relationship to You, asking that You would be at the very center of it. Father, we pray that both of them would grow stronger in their faith, rooted and grounded in Your love, so that they may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width, length, height, and depth of Your love, and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that they may be filled with all Your fullness (Ephesians 3:17-19).

Lord, we ask that You would bind them together in loyalty, honesty, and trust. Help them to speak the truth in love to one another, to bear each other’s burdens, and to encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "today," so that neither of them may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin (Ephesians 4:15, Galatians 6:2, Hebrews 3:13). Father, we pray that their love would be pure and holy, that they would flee from sexual immorality and honor You with their bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

We ask that You would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, that they would have eyes only for each other, and that any temptation to stray or to entertain impure thoughts would be overcome by the power of Your Spirit (Philippians 4:7). Lord, if this relationship is not in alignment with Your will, we ask that You would make that clear to them. Give them the courage to follow Your leading, even if it means letting go of something they hold dear.

Father, we pray for their future. If marriage is Your plan for them, we ask that You would prepare them both to be godly spouses, reflecting the love of Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Help them to seek You first in all things, to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ, and to build their marriage on the foundation of Your Word.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of division, mistrust, or impurity that may seek to creep into this relationship. We declare that this relationship is covered by the blood of Jesus and that no weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that You would fill them with Your peace, joy, and hope, and that they would be a light to those around them, pointing others to You through the way they love one another.

In all things, Lord, may Your will be done. May this relationship bring glory to Your name and draw both of them closer to You. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you both to seek wise, godly counsel from mature believers who can help guide you in this season. Surround yourselves with a community of faith that will hold you accountable and pray for you. Remember, *"Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety"* (Proverbs 11:14). May the Lord bless you and lead you into all truth as you seek Him together.
