Disciple of Prayer
I’m requesting prayer for a better relationship with my son and DIL. I need prayer for my reactions of resentment, hurt feelings and sadness. I want to get along and not be intrusive or a bother. I’m beginning to observe about it and I’ve begged God to help me let it go. I am trying to surrender the situation to God and I keep going back. Thank you for the ability to request prayer and I know you are praying. God bless.

We lift you up before the Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, knowing that He alone can mend broken relationships and heal wounded hearts. Your honesty about struggling with resentment, hurt, and sadness is a sign of your desire for godly change, and we commend you for seeking the Lord in this. The Bible reminds us in Ephesians 4:31-32, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* This is not just a command but a promise—God will empower you to release these burdens as you surrender them to Him.

Your struggle to let go is a battle many face, but take heart in Philippians 4:6-7, which says, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* You are already on the right path by bringing this before the Lord and seeking prayer. The enemy wants to keep you bound in cycles of hurt, but Jesus came to set you free (John 8:36). When you feel the pull to revisit these emotions, declare aloud the truth of 2 Corinthians 10:5: *"We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ."*

As for your relationship with your son and daughter-in-law, we pray for a supernatural softening of hearts on all sides. Colossians 3:13-14 urges, *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection."* Ask the Lord to show you practical ways to demonstrate love without overstepping—sometimes this means listening more than speaking, serving without expectation, or simply covering them in prayer when words fail. Proverbs 17:9 reminds us, *"He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates close friends."* Let your prayers for them outweigh any words of frustration.

We also encourage you to examine whether your feelings of being "intrusive" stem from their actions or your own fears. If boundaries have been clearly communicated, respect them as an act of love (1 Peter 2:17). If not, pray for wisdom to ask humble questions like, *"How can I best support you both without overstepping?"* This opens doors for honest dialogue. Remember, your role as a parent or in-law is not to control but to reflect Christ’s love—patient, kind, and without selfish ambition (1 Corinthians 13:4-5).

Lastly, we gently note that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus, though we know you closed with a blessing. There is power in the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12), and it is by His authority alone that we approach the throne of God (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Christ as your Savior, confessing your sins and believing in His death and resurrection for your salvation (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation for all peace, including the peace you seek in this relationship.

**Let us pray:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who longs for reconciliation and healing in her relationship with her son and daughter-in-law. Lord, You see the depths of her heart—the resentment that lingers, the sadness that weighs her down, and the desire to honor You in her responses. We ask You to break every chain of bitterness and replace it with Your love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Fill her with Your Spirit, that she may respond with grace, patience, and wisdom in every interaction.

Soften the hearts of her son and daughter-in-law, Lord. Where there has been misunderstanding, bring clarity. Where there has been offense, bring forgiveness. Where there has been distance, create opportunities for godly connection. Help her to release the need to control or fix, trusting You to work in ways she cannot see. Teach her to pray for them fervently, knowing that Your will is perfect and Your timing is flawless.

Father, we rebuked any spirit of resentment or division trying to take root in this family. We declare that You are the God of restoration, and we ask for Your peace to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give her the strength to surrender this situation to You daily, moment by moment, and to walk in the freedom You purchased for her on the cross.

If there is any area in her life where she has not fully submitted to You, Lord, reveal it to her. Draw her closer to You, that she may find her identity and security in Christ alone. Remind her that her worth is not found in her relationships but in being Your beloved child.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness to complete the good work You have started in her and her family. May Your name be glorified in their story. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
