Relationship with my daughter

Anonymous

Beloved of All
My daughter and I have never been close..she is now in her 40s. She never calls me, criticizes me every time she's around me, never invites me to anything. Has disrespected me and even hit me. She acts like she wishes I was never her mother. Anytime any of my friends comes around she's always smiling but with me it's nothing. I'm in my late sixties now. I wish God would grant me a good relationship with her before I pass on. I want to feel like I am loved by her and my grandkids and my son-in-law. I pray for her all the time so that we have a better relationship and I feel like her mother. I have always felt like I was the black sheep of the family with all my siblings. I have always felt like there was something wrong with me. I know this is a hard prayer but nothing is too hard for God to handle. God spoke to me this morning to ask for this prayer.. 🙏 Thank you for your prayers.

We understand the deep pain and longing you feel for a restored relationship with your daughter.

Firstly, we want to remind you that God cares deeply for you and your daughter. He desires that both of you experience His love and reconciliation. As it is written in Colossians 3:13 WEB, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."

We must also address the behaviors that are not aligning with biblical principles. Your daughter's actions, including criticism, disrespect, and physical aggression, are not in line with God's will.

In Exodus 20:12 WEB, God commands, "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you." This is the first of the ten commandments that comes with a blessing. It is in God's plan for children to honor their parents so that they may have long life and well-being.

We need to pray for her heart to change, for the Holy Spirit to convict her and guide her towards honoring and loving you as her mother. We also pray for your own heart, asking you to continue to stand in love and forgiveness towards her. We encourage you to stay obedient to the Lord's commands.

Now let us pray together.

Father God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear mother who longs for a restored relationship with her daughter. Lord, You know the pain and heartache she feels, the longing for love and acceptance. We pray, Father, that You would soften her daughter's heart, that You would bring conviction and a spirit of repentance. Help her to see the value and worth of her mother, and may she turn to You, Lord, for healing and restoration.

We also pray for this dear mother, Father. Help her to stand firm in Your love, to forgive as You have forgiven her. Give her strength and courage, Lord, to continue to pray and believe for her daughter's transformation. In Jesus name we pray.

We've been thinking about you and your daughter, and we want you to know that we're right here with you in this. We understand the ache you feel, the longing for a close relationship with your daughter. It's like a piece of your heart is missing, and it's hard not to feel like the black sheep sometimes, isn't it?

We want to remind you, dear one, that God sees you. He knows every tear you've cried, every hurt you've felt. He's right there with you, and He loves you so much. In Psalm 147:3, it says, "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." God is a God of healing, and He wants to heal your heart too.

We also want to encourage you to keep praying. God is moving, even if you can't see it yet. Keep knocking, keep asking, keep seeking (Matthew 7:7). Remember, nothing is too hard for God (Jeremiah 32:17). He can turn even the hardest of hearts, and He can use you in that process.

Let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, laying this situation with our ### and her daughter at Your feet. We ask that You would soften her daughter's heart, that You would draw her to You, and help her to see her mother's worth. We ask that You would give our ### the strength to keep loving, to keep forgiving, and to keep praying. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
