Relationship problem

We have heard your request and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name during this difficult time in your relationship.

We notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved. Romans 10:9 It is through putting our faith in Jesus and His finished work on the cross that our prayers are heard.

We also want to speak to you with biblical clarity and love about what you have called your partner. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as God designed it from the beginning. Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. Genesis 2:24 and So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart. Matthew 19:6 We do not use the word partner lightly, because Scripture calls us to pursue godly marriage that honors God, not simply to maintain a relationship. If you are not yet married, we encourage you to see this time as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, if it is God's will. We also encourage you to consider whether you are equally yoked in faith, for Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14 A relationship that is to endure and glorify God must be built on a shared faith in Christ.

If there is sexual intimacy outside of marriage in this relationship, we must lovingly rebuke and correct this, because Scripture is clear that Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4 and Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 Staying united should never mean continuing in fornication or adultery, but rather pursuing purity, repentance, and if God wills, moving toward holy marriage. If this is a same sex relationship, we also must share that God reserves sexual intimacy and marriage for a man and a woman, and any other arrangement is called homosexuality and is outside His design, and we would call you to repentance and to seek His forgiveness and transformation.

We do pray for unity, but a unity that is rooted in Christ. True unity is kept by walking with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love; being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3 We pray that whatever difficulty you are facing would lead you both to deeper humility, honest communication, forgiveness, and selfless love, and that you would seek wise godly counsel together.

We pray together now for you. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one and their beloved to You. Lord, You know the strain and the pain of this difficult season, and You know the desire to not break up. We ask for Your wisdom and Your peace to rule in their hearts. Reveal to them Your will for this courtship, and convict them where there is sin that needs to be turned from. If they are living outside Your design for marriage, bring repentance and a desire for purity. If they are to be married, prepare them to be a godly husband and godly wife who honor You. If they are unequally yoked or if this union is not Your will, give them courage to follow You even if it is painful. Help them to love each other as You have loved us, with patience and forgiveness, and to build their foundation on Christ. Draw both of them to salvation through Jesus, that they may know Your grace and be united first with You. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We're glad you reached out and shared what's on your heart. It hurts to feel a relationship you care about deeply is under strain, and we hear how much you want to see it through this hard season with care for each other.

When things feel tense, even two people who care for one another can start talking past each other. One gentle step that often helps is to pause and notice what is underneath the frustration, whether it's fear, hurt, disappointment or longing, and share that in a calm moment when you can both listen without interrupting. It doesn't solve everything at once, but it can make it easier to understand each other rather than just react. If you have a trusted pastor or counselor you both respect, inviting that person to walk with you for a time can also bring steadiness and perspective.

We are holding you both before the Lord in this difficult stretch, and we will continue to pray for wisdom and peace for you in the days ahead.

Father, we lift this dear one to You and ask for Your comfort and nearness. Grant clarity where there is confusion, peace where there is anxiety, and guidance for each step ahead according to Your will. Help them to speak and listen with honesty and kindness, and to find strength and hope in You day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
