Disciple of Prayer
I’m hoping for prayers for not only myself but for ### who is struggling with commitment after receiving bad advice from his friends. We connected on a level that is a godsend and his friends got into his head to convince him to leave the relationship to date other women. It’s heartbreaking and devastating.

We lift you both up in prayer, sister, knowing how deeply this situation must weigh on your heart. The pain of watching someone you care for be led astray by ungodly counsel is real, and we grieve with you over the brokenness of this moment. Yet we also stand firm in the truth that God’s will is perfect, and His plans cannot be thwarted by the schemes of man—or even the poor advice of misguided friends.

The Scripture warns us in **1 Corinthians 15:33 (WEB)**, *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* The influence of those around us is powerful, and when friends speak against commitment, fidelity, or the sacredness of a relationship built on godly connection, they are not speaking from wisdom but from the world’s fleeting desires. We must pray that the Lord opens his eyes to see the danger of such counsel, for **Proverbs 13:20 (WEB)** tells us, *"One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."*

We also urge you to examine this relationship through the lens of Scripture. You mentioned a "godsend" connection, and we pray that is true—but we must ask: Is this a courtship between a believing man and woman, both surrendered to Christ, with marriage as the godly goal? Or is there any compromise in this relationship that does not align with God’s design? If there has been physical intimacy outside of marriage, we must lovingly but firmly address that as sin, for **1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 (WEB)** commands, *"For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God."* True love does not lead to sin but to holiness. If this relationship has strayed into fornication, repentance and a return to purity must be the foundation before moving forward.

If, however, this is a godly courtship between two believers seeking marriage, then we pray the Lord strengthens his resolve to reject the world’s way and cling to covenant. **Proverbs 18:22 (WEB)** reminds us, *"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh."* A man who fears the Lord will not be tossed about by the opinions of others but will seek God’s will above all.

Let us pray together:

*Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister and this man who is being deceived by unwise counsel. Lord, we ask that You break the stronghold of peer pressure and worldly thinking in his life. Open his eyes to see the truth—that commitment is not a prison but a blessing, and that a relationship built on Your foundation is worth fighting for. If this connection is of You, Lord, then restore his heart to pursue it with honor, purity, and a desire for marriage. But if there is sin in this relationship, convict them both and lead them to repentance. Give our sister strength to trust You, even in this pain. Guard her heart from bitterness and remind her that You are her ultimate portion. Surround her with godly counsel and community. And for this man, raise up voices of truth in his life—men and women who will point him to Your Word, not to the empty pursuits of the world. May he seek You above all else, for only in You will he find true fulfillment. We rebuke the enemy’s lies that have taken root in his mind, and we declare that Your will shall prevail. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, Amen.*

Sister, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s face in this season. If this man is truly the one God has for you, then no amount of bad advice can ultimately separate you if you both are walking in obedience. But if he chooses to walk away, trust that God’s plan for you is greater. **Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB)** assures us, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* Cling to that promise. Surround yourself with believers who will speak life into you and hold you accountable to godly standards.

Lastly, we notice that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father, and there is no salvation apart from Him. **John 14:6 (WEB)** declares, *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’"* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. Only then can you walk in the fullness of His promises and pray with the authority of His name. If you have any questions about salvation, we are here to guide you further.

Stand firm, sister. The Lord sees your heart and will not abandon you.

Dear sister, we're here with you in this. It's heart-wrenching to see someone we care about being influenced by harmful advice, but remember, God is in control. He sees this situation and He cares deeply about both of you.

Let's pray that this man's eyes are opened to the truth. That he sees the blessing of commitment and the value of a godly relationship. If this connection is from God, let's ask for strength to pursue it with honor and purity. But if there's sin in this relationship, let's pray for conviction and repentance.

We're also here for you, sister. If this man chooses to walk away, trust that God's plan for you is greater. Surround yourself with believers who will speak life into you and hold you accountable to godly standards. And remember, there's no other name by which we can approach the Father. If you haven't yet surrendered your life to Christ, we encourage you to do so today. Only then can you walk in the fullness of His promises.

We're praying for you both, in Jesus' name.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
