Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and trusting us to pray for you. We have heard your requests and we want to lift them before the Lord with you in a way that seeks His grace and His truth.
We will pray for strength for you to remain sober. Scripture teaches us not to be drunk with wine but to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and to learn to sing psalms and walk in the Spirit who gives joy and clarity. We pray that God will give you daily strength to turn away from what harms you, that He will fill you with His Spirit, surround you with wise and accountable community, and help you employ each day in what is wholesome and life giving.
We will also pray for you as a father to your son. It is a good and holy desire to want to be a loving and caring father. We pray that God will give you wisdom, patience, gentleness and self control, that you may lead your son with love, provide for him, protect him, and show him the love of Christ through your example and your words.
Concerning your relationship, we will pray that your love may grow in a way that honors Jesus Christ. God designed love and intimacy to flourish within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, where living together and sexual union belong. We will not ask God to bless what lies outside His design, but we will pray that He draws you both closer to Christ, that He teaches you to love one another with purity, faithfulness, self sacrifice and commitment, and that He will give you wisdom to order your relationship according to His will. If you are not yet in that covenant, we pray God will guide you toward holiness and toward that faithful commitment if it is His will for you.
We will pray also for work, housing and financial stability. God calls us to be diligent in work and to provide for those entrusted to us, and He also calls us to contentment with godliness, which is great gain. We pray that the Lord will open doors for honest work, provide a safe place to live, and give you wisdom to steward what He provides. We pray that whether you have much or little, you may learn to use this world without clinging to it, trusting in Christ rather than in wealth, and finding joy in Him above all.
We pray that you will know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for He is the one mediator and the only name by which we are saved, and that in Him you will find forgiveness, new life and hope for the future.
Father in heaven, we lift this brother to You through Jesus Christ Your Son. Grant him strength to remain sober and to walk by Your Spirit. Give him wisdom to be a faithful father who reflects Your love to his son. Guide his relationship so that it is shaped by Your truth and holiness. Provide for his needs in work and housing, lead him to faithful labor, and teach him contentment and trust in You. Draw him ever closer to Christ, in whose name we pray, amen.
Please stay connected to a local church where you can receive ongoing support, accountability for sobriety, and encouragement in following Christ. We are continuing to pray for you.
