Guest, as you seek the Lord, invite the Holy Spirit in to guide you into your prayers.
Matthew 6:9-13 gives us a guideline for prayer (The Everyday Bible)
Our Father in heaven,
We pray that your name will always be kept holy.
We pray that your kingdom will come.
We pray that what you want will be done, here on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us food we need for each day.
Forgive the sins we have done, just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.
Do not cause us to be tested;
but save us from the Evil One!
Let me help you a little by putting this into terms you can use as an example but not to be used in monolog fashion.
Lord Jesus, holy and righteous: I come to you today with praise and thanksgiving in my heart for all the blessings you have given to me. I want to do your will in my life and ask that you show me the way. I thank you for taking care of all my daily needs. I ask forgiveness for my sins. (Tell Jesus what your sins are. He knows them anyway but wants to hear it from you.) Help me to forgive others who have sinned against me. Lord, I ask for your help in the following areas of my life (name your petitions one by one). I pray for protection from the enemy. Then thank him. Amen
This is very basic but maybe it will help you. Jesus loves you so very much and he has left directions in the Bible for any and every question we could ever think up. As you read the word, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal God to you in a personal way. He will.
Lord Jesus, I touch and agree with these prayers today for our guest. May they find the wonderful relationship with you they are seeking. May your hand of mercy and grace be upon them. May you lead, guide and direct them into spiritual truth. May they find new insights as they read your word. I thank you for this guest today. I thank you for the help your are going to give them. I praise your holy name, Amen
