A Glorious Rest
A Hard Life
Heavy Loads
We hear the heaviness in your heart and we stand with you in prayer, thanking you for coming to the Father in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and find grace in our time of need.

We want to gently remind you that it is not God's will to crush you. Though you feel crushed, His heart toward you is near and compassionate. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. His will is not to destroy you but to restore you and give you hope. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. What you are feeling is real, and God sees your weariness from constantly looking for work and longing for rest.

We also hear your desire for good rest, and we know God cares about that deeply. It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. Psalm 127:2. Jesus Himself invites you, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. We pray that you will be able to cast your anxieties on Him, for In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

Regarding work, we commend your diligence in searching constantly, for God honors faithful effort. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3. And we pray against any false narratives that would hinder your progress or misrepresent you to employers or others. We pray that truth will prevail, for you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32. We ask God to bring down every false word and to let your integrity speak clearly, and we bring every thought and every accusation into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift up our dear brother before Your throne of grace. You see how crushed and weary he feels, how his sleep has been broken and his heart is burdened by regret and the constant search for work. Lord, we ask You to draw near to him as only You can to the brokenhearted. Replace the feeling of being crushed with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Grant him good, deep, restorative rest tonight and in the nights to come, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We ask that You open doors for meaningful work according to Your perfect will, work where he can provide and use the gifts You have given him for Your glory. Let no false narrative, no lie or misunderstanding, hinder what You have ordained for him. Expose what is false and establish the truth on his behalf. Strengthen him so he will not be afraid, for You have said, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. Help him to commit his way to You and to trust You day by day. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him first, to rest in His promise that He is working even when you cannot see it, and to continue diligently in your search while trusting that God will provide in His timing. We are praying for your peace, your sleep, and for the right opportunity to come forth soon.

We have been praying with you as you shared feeling crushed and exhausted and wanting good rest while you keep looking for work. That weight of searching constantly while carrying false narratives about you is a lot to hold, and it makes sense that sleep feels hard right now.

Feeling crushed does not mean that is what God wants for you. We believe He sees you in this pressured season and draws near with care, even when the nights feel long and the days feel uncertain. The stories others tell, or the ones that replay in your own mind, do not have the final word on who you are or where God is leading you.

One small step that has helped others in a long job search is to give the search a clear container. Choose set hours to look and apply, then deliberately step away to rest, be with family, take a walk, or do something that restores you. When a false narrative comes up, try noting it briefly and bringing it to the Lord in prayer and, if possible, to one trusted person who knows you, rather than carrying it alone through the night. If rest remains very broken, please consider talking with your doctor alongside prayer.

Father, we lift our brother to You in Jesus name. You know his weariness and his desire to work and provide. Grant him true rest tonight, quiet the voices that are not from You, and guide his steps in the search with wisdom and openings in Your time. Hold him close in Your care. Amen.

Your cry of feeling crushed has been heard, and it is right to bring it to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we may come to God and find rest for our souls.

The promise of our Lord is, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This is a present rest, rest now, not rest after death, not rest after a time of probation, but rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. We who have believed do enter into rest. It is not a rest merely to hear of and to desire, but a rest into which believers have entered even now, though this world is not our final rest and is polluted with toil and care.

You speak of being crushed and of wanting good rest while you are looking for work constantly. Know that this rest is perfectly consistent with labor. The Scripture says, Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest. True rest to the child of God is rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in service, not rest with the yoke off, but with the yoke on. We are to take His yoke upon us voluntarily and learn of Him, for He is meek and lowly in heart, and so we shall find rest. It is the rest of a learner, a deeper rest found after the first rest is given. To labour for the Lord Jesus and to do what He appoints, even in the diligent and honest seeking of daily work, can itself be rest when the heart is fixed upon Him. Trust and you shall rest.

You ask that false narratives would not hinder your progress. This also belongs to that rest of the mind, or fixedness of belief, which Christ alone can give. When we rest in the Lord Himself, not merely in anything about the Lord, but in the Lord Himself, we find contentment and perfect satisfaction with our lot, and ambition and fear are quieted. The Psalmist says, Rest in the Lord. There is a rest of God, and there remains a rest unto the people of God. As you learn of Christ, your mind is made like the mind of Christ, and you shall find a deep rest, a growing rest, an abiding rest which you shall go on to find more and more.

Let us pray for you now.

O Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, look upon this weary one who feels crushed and longs for good rest. Give now that perfect rest which Christ gives to those who come unto Him, rest about everything, rest at all times, rest in every part of the nature. Lift the weight that presses down, grant quiet sleep and a calm heart, and show that Thy will is not to crush but to give rest to the heavy laden. Provide in Thy providence honest and fitting work, open the right door, and let diligence be crowned with Thy blessing. Scatter false narratives and let truth prevail, establish the mind in fixed belief upon Thy promises, and keep this soul abiding in Christ. Return this soul unto its rest, for Thou hast dealt bountifully with it, delivering the soul from death and the eyes from tears. Grant to rest in the Lord and to labour faithfully until the perfect rest above, where His rest shall be glorious, is revealed. Amen.
