Beloved of All
Father, "Our fathers have told us what works You did in the past," Ps 44:1. "Oh, that You would tear open the heavens and come down, That the mountains would quake at Your presence— 2 As fire kindles brushwood, as fire causes water to boil—To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence! 3 When You did awesome things which we did not expect, You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence. 4 For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of one who waits for Him. 5 You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways," Isaiah 64:1-5[a]...

We take as a presupposition You are no respecter of persons, and are the same yesterday, today and forever, Heb 13:8. Even though we know the Manifest Presence of God is a fearful thing, we ask You prepare our obedience to experience YOUR Holy Spirit it in a greater, weightier, degree. We're inclined to seek obedience [1], the Fruit of The Holy Spirit and humility (Knowing gifts are given, and humility is developed by suffering (David, John Baptist, Jesus, Peter, James, John, Paul), and Power of God brings a lot of "temptations" with it... It destroyed many men and women in the late 1800s until the 1950s-1960s, and gave us warnings of what to be on guard against -- fame, fortune, females -- gold, girls and glory... So we ask for The Fear of The LORD, the hatred of evil, freedom from bitterness, greed, lust and deception...

Thank You for GRACE and DESIRE to be taught by YOU about the missionaries in this past Spring (David Brainerd to The Native Americans, Patrick to Ireland, Cyril and Methodius to the Slavic peoples, William Carey and Amy Carmichael to India, Hudson Taylor to China Inland, Adoniram Judson to Burma, some others to Africa (Livingstone), others to Korea (Robert Jermain Thomas), and then the Reformations and Revivals, Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, Knox, George Whitefield, and "real" revivals (starting mid-June): 1st Great Awakening, (Whitefield, William Tennent (Founded Log College -- Became Princeton) His son, Gilbert Tennent, more the revivalist, Jonathan Edwards (THE Theologian of True and False Awakenings) and David Brainerd (Missionary Native Americans) in The Colonies (1735-1750ish)...

In Britain, Whitefield, Howell (pronounced, Huell) Harris, The lives of The Brothers Wesley, John & Charles; This was undoubtedly The Hand of God in preparing 50,000 for death in The Revolutionary War (Most that died would have either heard The Revivalists themselves or been under the influence of those converted growing up).

This was followed by a rapid decay (Only need ONE GENERATION of not teach the children, Deut 6:6-7, Judges 2:10-11...

The 2nd Great Awakening: Small beginnings --Methodist "Camp Meetings, 1790's with Francis Asbury (and somewhat Thomas Coke) in forming the "Circuit Riders" -- "Cane Ridge" 1801 -- Gave " Charles G Finney (for revival and conversion rate, not theology), D.L. Moody, MANY others in U.S. and Spurgeon, George MĂĽller, William and Catherine Booth and others in The UK and Northern Ireland, and The revival in Wales, 1904, (Evan Roberts & Others), Azusa Street, 1906, (William Seymour & Others), and most recently The Revival in Lewis, Hebrides, N.W. Scotland, 1949 (Chiefly Duncan Campbell and Others) -- We came to see the manifest presence of God is granted by "strict obedience and consecration" (Jesus, Garden, "I AM HE" they fell backwards, John 18:6, and He is the same yesterday, today and forever, Heb 13:8, works He did shall we do also, John 14:12, as in Acts in Upper Room (rushing Mighty Wind while they were all together in prayer, Acts 2:1-42) and after being threatened in Acts 4 where the place was shaken., Ananias & Sapphira fell dead, Acts 5?... God bless in Jesus' Name, John 1:16, Eph 1:17-19, Eph 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3-7...

Edwards saw it, Whitefield, Brainerd among the Native Americans, Wesley on occasions, Finney (not a fan of his theology but again 74% of his converts "stuck" -- He saw mass convictions and Holy & Awesome God just flooring people more than the others it seems almost all the time).

We believe God can and will do it again. Pray for salvation of all, even authorities, so we may obey the Great Commission freely, unhindered, Acts 28:30, and may work for the night is coming when no one can, John 9:4.

Protection from temptation, Lk 11:4, temptation and evil, Matt 6:13, sin, wrongdoing, lies, fear, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 1 Cor 8:1, greed, 1 Tim 6:6, evil people, 2 Tim 3:5, w Thes 3:2, Deceivers, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, Deception and false prophets, Matt 24:4-14, persecution Rev 12:4-17, false signs, wonders, false "christs," 2 Cor 11:14-15, 2 Thes 2:8-10, 1 Jn 2:8, 1 Jn 4:3, Rev 13:13-14

[1]Duncan Campbell says it's essential to real conviction and deep repentance, underlines strict obedience to God's voice, Wesley saw it as well as Whitefield and Brainerd, but also Wesley's "follow up methods" (gained from rubbing shoulders with Zinzendorf and the Moravians who formed small groups called "Banden" [Bands]), Wesley duplicated that w/ "societies" and gained not only his and his fellow Methodists -- but also many of Whitefield's & Harris' converts (since they latter two were more evangelists, while Wesley was more an "apostolic figure" moving in Evangelism, Church Planter & Organizer, Teaching, Pastoring -- all quite freely). Thank You Father and all who pray and will be praying in advance until "Your Glory covers the earth," Num 14:21-22, Ps 72:19, Hab 2:14; and "the Lord's light shall shine on the righteous WHILE deep darkness is covering the earth, Isaiah 60:1-7, "And those that lead many to righteousness like the stars forever," Dan 12:3. Thank You for strength through prayer Eph 3:15-20, in Jesus' Name, Amen, Rev 3:14, 2 Cor 1:20.

We join with you in this deep cry for reformation, holiness, obedience and the manifest presence of God, and we are stirred by your hunger for Isaiah 64:1-4 where you prayed, Oh that you would tear open the heavens and come down, that the mountains would quake at your presence, as when fire kindles brushwood and fire causes water to boil, to make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence. When you did awesome things which we did not expect, you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence. For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides you, who works for him who waits for him. You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, those who remember you in your ways, Isaiah 64:1-5. We agree with you in remembering Psalm 44:1, We have heard with our ears, God, our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old, and we believe with you that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, Hebrews 13:8, and that God is no respecter of persons, Acts 10:34.

We are encouraged by your understanding that the manifest presence of God is a fearful and holy thing, for our God is a consuming fire, Hebrews 12:29, and that we should serve God acceptably with reverence and awe, Hebrews 12:28. You are right to ask for preparation through obedience and consecration rather than merely seeking experience or power. If you love me, keep my commandments, John 14:15, and Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, 1 Samuel 15:22. True revival has always been marked by strict obedience, humility, and the fear of the Lord, for The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, Proverbs 9:10, and By the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil, Proverbs 16:6. You wisely note the snares of fame, fortune and females, gold, girls and glory, and we agree that many have fallen through pride and the love of money, for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, 1 Timothy 6:10, and God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble, 1 Peter 5:5. We affirm with you that gifts are given but humility and the fruit of the Spirit are developed, often through suffering, and the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23.

We thank God with you for the cloud of witnesses in church history, the missionaries like ###, ###, ### and ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, ### and ###, and the reformers and revivalists, ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, the ###, ###, ###, the ###, ###, and those used in ###, ### in ###, ### in ###, and ### in ### under ###. We see with you how God prepared a people and how quickly a generation can forget when they fail to teach diligently to their children as commanded in Deuteronomy 6:6-7, and how it came to pass in Judges 2:10 that there arose another generation after them who did not know Yahweh, nor the work which he had done. We also heed your caution that we must test the spirits, for many false prophets have gone out into the world, 1 John 4:1, and that even Satan masquerades as an angel of light, 2 Corinthians 11:14, so we must cling to Christ and His Word and not to signs alone, though we do believe the promise of Jesus, He who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also, John 14:12, and we remember how on the day of Pentecost they were all with one accord in one place and suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, Acts 2:1-2, and after they prayed the place was shaken where they were gathered together, Acts 4:31.

We pray together now in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, for there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before Your throne of grace, Hebrews 4:16, thanking You for Your grace and for the desire You have placed in our hearts to know You more. We ask that You would rend the heavens and come down again in Your holy and manifest presence, not for our glory but for Yours, that Your name would be known and the nations would tremble. Prepare us in strict obedience and consecration, create in us clean hearts, Psalm 51:10, and make us holy as You are holy, 1 Peter 1:15-16. Grant us the fear of Yahweh which is to hate evil, Proverbs 8:13, and keep us from bitterness, greed, lust and deception. Keep us from temptation and deliver us from evil, Matthew 6:13, Luke 11:4, and guard us from false christs, false prophets and lying wonders, Matthew 24:24, 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10. Raise up again obedient servants who will bear the fruit of the Spirit in humility and carry the gospel to every creature, Mark 16:15, and we pray for the salvation of all men, including kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence, 1 Timothy 2:1-2, so that we may freely and without hindrance fulfill the Great Commission, Matthew 28:19-20, while it is day, for the night is coming, when no one can work, John 9:4. If Your people who are called by Your name will humble themselves, pray, seek Your face, and turn from their wicked ways, then You will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land, 2 Chronicles 7:14. We ask for strength in the inner man through Your Spirit, Ephesians 3:16, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, Ephesians 3:17, and that Your glory may cover the earth as the waters cover the sea, Habakkuk 2:14, and that those who turn many to righteousness will shine as the stars forever and ever, Daniel 12:3. We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Thank you for pouring out this prayer with such care. We can feel how much you want to see God move again in holiness and power, not just in history books but in our own day, and how seriously you take the call to obedience and humility alongside it.

We join you in asking for that. We also hear your wisdom in asking for protection and the fear of the Lord as you seek more of His presence. Wanting power without character has hurt many, and your prayer for freedom from bitterness, greed and deception is a healthy, grounded way to seek Him.

One thing that has helped others who carry a similar burden is to not carry it alone. You mentioned how ### learned from the Moravians to form small bands for prayer and honest checking in. Continuing to meet regularly with a few trusted believers to pray, confess, and encourage strict obedience in the everyday things can keep the hunger both warm and steady.

Father, we lift our brother to You. Give him and those praying with him a growing desire to obey Your voice quickly, humility to walk faithfully in small things, and protection from temptation and pride. Keep his heart tender, his mind clear, and his hope anchored in Your grace. Form Christ more fully in him and use his prayers for Your glory. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been read with deep sympathy and thankfulness, for it breathes a right hunger after God Himself and not merely after His gifts.

You have well quoted the prophet, Oh that Thou wouldest rend the heavens, that Thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at Thy presence. This is a prayer after God's own heart, and we join you in it, yet we must remember how the Scripture joins the manifest presence of God with holiness and obedience. Without holiness, practical, personal, active, vital holiness, no man shall see the Lord. It is not a notion or a doctrine to be talked of, but conformity to the will of God and obedience to the Lord's command.

You ask for a greater weight of His presence, and you ask rightly for the preparation of obedience to bear it. Obedience is the highest practical courage. To persist in scrupulous obedience throughout life may need more courage than even the martyr evinces when once and for all he gives himself to be burned. The word to Joshua was, Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left. The very essence of obedience lies in exactness. The world says we must not be too precise, but the Lord requires a wholehearted and complete obedience, the obedience of a child, not of a slave, the obedience of love, not of terror, the obedience of faith. He never says, I will go thus far but no further, and so must it be with those enlisted under the Captain of our salvation.

You rightly tremble at the temptations which have destroyed many when power and prominence were given without proportionate humility and fear of the Lord. Gifts are given, but humility is wrought by suffering, and character is the seal of the covenant. We do not desire power without purity, nor manifestation without the hatred of evil and freedom from bitterness, greed, lust and deception. The gracious presence of God must be our heaven below if it is to be our heaven above, and that presence magnifies the law and makes amends to holiness by the obedience and atoning death of Christ.

We rejoice with you in the remembrance of what God has wrought in former days, by Brainerd and Patrick, by Carey and Judson and Taylor, by Livingstone and by the preachers of the great awakenings, Whitefield and Edwards and the Wesleys and many more. God is the same yesterday, and today, and forever, and He still acts in behalf of him that waiteth for Him. He meeteth him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember Him in His ways. When the holy women ran in the way of active obedience to bring the disciples word, as they went to tell, Jesus met them. So shall it be still. In the way of obedience we shall find obedience rewarded and refreshed, and permitted to prove that our Lord is indeed risen.

Take then this word of exhortation. Seek to know the Lord's will with intelligent obedience. The spirit that bows itself reverently before the Most High and says, What wouldest Thou have me to do, will not become a mere formalist. Sincerity is seen in seeking out matters we are not yet acquainted with, that we may follow the Master's mind in all things, personally, scrupulously, rigidly. The path of obedience is generally a middle path, turning neither to the right hand nor to the left, and perseverance therein is perseverance in holiness. If grace hath really changed you, you are radically and lastingly changed, and you shall not depart from Him.

We will pray with you and for you, that the Lord would rend the heavens and come down in converting and sanctifying power, that He would save sinners, even those in authority, that we may live godly and quiet lives and obey the Great Commission freely while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work. We pray that you may be kept from temptation and delivered from evil, from sin and wrongdoing, from lies and fear, from greed and from deceivers and false prophets and false signs and wonders, and that you may walk in the fear of the Lord which is the hatred of evil.

May the Lord teach you Himself, keep you low at the foot of the cross, trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and make you fruitful in every good work, until His glory covers the earth as the waters cover the sea, and those that turn many to righteousness shine as the stars forever. We ask this not for our worthiness but for His name's sake, through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom are all the promises yea and amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and we join you in it with thankfulness for the hunger it expresses for the living God to reveal Himself in holiness and power.

You have asked rightly that God would rend the heavens and come down, not for spectacle but for His name to be known, and that He would prepare you in obedience to bear the weight of His presence. This is a good and biblical desire. The prophet says God acts on behalf of the one who waits for Him and meets him who rejoices in doing righteousness and remembers Him in His ways. Our God is indeed the same yesterday, today and forever, and His power to establish you according to the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ remains unchanged.

We pray with you for that strict obedience and singleness of heart which fears God even when no eye is watching. True service is not with eye service as men pleasers, but from a sincere heart that does what is right because of the sleepless Eye that sees all. We ask the Lord to grant you that singleness, to keep you from hypocrisy, to appear one thing before men and another when alone, but to walk before Him in truth at all times.

We also join you in asking for holiness without which no one will see the Lord, and for peace with all men. Holiness is not only abstaining from outward defilement but being made clean in body and spirit through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, and then walking in a life that is more comprehensive, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. We pray that God will form in you the fruit of the Spirit, and that humility will be deepened even through suffering, as it was in the lives of those who went before you, so that any measure of power or influence would not become a snare through fame or greed or lust.

We thank God with you for the examples of faithful missionaries and reformers and for the seasons of awakening He has granted in former generations, and for the warnings their lives also leave us. We ask that what was sown in the past would bear fruit again in our day according to His sovereign mercy, not by our curiosity or striving, but by His revelation made manifest through the Scriptures of the Prophets according to the commandment of the everlasting God.

Therefore we pray that the Lord would keep you in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, that He would establish you firmly, that He would grant you the fear of the Lord which hates evil, and deliverance from bitterness, greed, lust and every form of deception. We ask for protection from temptation and from evil, from sin and falsehood and fear, from evil people and deceivers, from false prophets and false signs and wonders, and from all that would lead astray. We pray for the salvation of many, including those in authority, that we may live quiet and godly lives and carry out the Great Commission freely while it is still day, before the night comes when no one can work.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you, to strengthen you in the inner being, to guard your heart in obedience and humility, and to make you ready for whatever work He has prepared for you, until His glory covers the earth and His light shines upon the righteous. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
