Beloved of All
🙇🏻Father, "our fathers have told us what works You did in the past," Ps 44:1. We take as a presupposition You are no respecter of persons, and are the same yesterday, today and forever, Heb 13:8.Even though we know the Manifest Presence of God is a fearful thing, we ask You prepare our obedience to experience YOUR Holy Spirit it in a greater, weightier, degree. We're inclined to seek obedience [1], the Fruit of The Holy Spirit and humility (Knowing gifts are given, and humility is developed by suffering (David, John Baptist, Jesus, Peter, James, John, Paul), and Power of God brings a lot of "temptations" with it... It destroyed many men and women in the late 1800s until the 1950s-1960s, and gave us warnings of what to be on guard against -- fame, fortune, females -- gold, girls and glory... So we ask for The Fear of The LORD, the hatred of evil, freedom from bitterness, greed, lust and deception...

After having studied missionaries in Early Spring (David Brainerd to The Native Americans, Patrick to Ireland, Cyril and Methodius to the Slavic peoples, William Carey and Amy Carmichael to India, Hudson Taylor to China Inland, Adoniram Judson to Burma, some others to Africa (Livingstone), others to Korea (Robert Jermain Thomas), and then the Reformations and Revivals, Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, Knox, George Whitefield, and "real" revivals (starting mid-June): 1st Great Awakening, (Whitefield, William Tennent (Founded Log College -- Became Princeton) His son, Gilbert Tennent, more the revivalist, Jonathan Edwards (THE Theologian of True and False Awakenings) and David Brainerd (Missionary Native Americans) in The Colonies (1735-1750ish)...

In Britain, Whitefield, Howell (pronounced, Huell) Harris, The lives of The Brothers Wesley, John & Charles; This was undoubtedly The Hand of God in preparing 50,000 for death in The Revolutionary War (Most that died would have either heard The Revivalists themselves or been under the influence of those converted growing up).

This was followed by a rapid decay (Only need ONE GENERATION of not teach the children, Deut 6:7, Judges 2:10-11...

The 2nd Great Awakening: Small beginnings --Methodist "Camp Meetings, 1790's with Francis Asbury (and somewhat Thomas Coke) in forming the "Circuit Riders" -- "Cane Ridge" 1801 -- Gave " Charles G Finney (for revival and conversion rate, not theology), D.L. Moody, MANY others in U.S. and Spurgeon, George MĂĽller, William and Catherine Booth and others in The UK and Northern Ireland, and The revival in Wales, 1904, (Evan Roberts & Others), Azusa Street, 1906, (William Seymour & Others), and most recently The Revival in Lewis, Heberdes, N.W. Scotland, 1949 (Chiefly Duncan Campbell and Others) -- I came to see the manifest presence of God is granted by "strict obedience and consecration" (Jesus, Garden, "I AM HE" they fell backwards, John 18:6, and He is the same yesterday, today and forever, Heb 13:8, works He did shall we do also, John 14:12, as in Acts in Upper Room (rushing Mighty Wind while they were all together in prayer, Acts 2:1-42) and after being threatened in Acts 4 where the place was shaken., Ananias & Saphira fell dead, Acts 5?... God bless in Jesus' Name, John 1:16, Eph 1:17-19, Eph 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3-7...

Edwards saw it, Whitefield, Brainerd among the Native Americans, Wesley on occasions, Finney (not a fan of his theology but again 74% of his converts "stuck" -- He saw mass convictions and Holy & Awesome God just flooring people more than the others it seems almost all the time).

We believe God can and will do it again. Pray for salvation of all, even authorities, so we may obey the Great Commission freely, unhindered, Acts 28:30, and may work for the night is coming when no one can, John 9:4.

Protection from temptation, Lk 11:4, temptation and evil, Matt 6:13, sin, wrongdoing, lies, fear, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 1 Cor 8:1, greed, 1 Tim 6:6, evil people, 2 Tim 3:5, w Thes 3:2, Deceivers, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, Deception and false prophets, Matt 24:4-14, persecution Rev 12:4-17, false signs, wonders, false "christs," 2 Cor 11:14-15, 2 Thes 2:8-10, 1 Jn 2:8, 1 Jn 4:3, Rev 13:13-14

[1]Duncan Campbell says it's essential to real conviction and deep repentance, underlines strict obedience to God's voice, Wesley saw it as well as Whitefield and Brainerd, but also Wesley's "follow up methods" (gained from rubbing shoulders with Zinzendorf and the Moravians who formed small groups called "Banden" [Bands]), Wesley duplicated that w/ "societies" and gained not only his and his fellow Methodists -- but also many of Whitefield's & Harris' converts (since they latter two were more evangelists, while Wesley was more an "apostolic figure" moving in Evangelism, Church Planter & Organizer, Teaching, Pastoring -- all quite freely). Thank You Father and all who pray and will be praying in advance until "Your Glory covers the earth," Num 14:21-22, Ps 72:19, Hab 2:14; and "the Lord's light shall shine on the righteous WHILE deep darkness is covering the earth, Isaiah 60:1-7, "And those that lead many to righteousness like the stars forever," Dan 12:3. Thank You for strength through prayer Eph 3:15-20, in Jesus' Name, Amen, Rev 3:14, 2 Cor 1:20.

We join you in this cry for reformation, holiness, obedience and the manifest presence of God, and we thank you for anchoring your request in Scripture and in the name of Jesus, for it is only by His name that we have access to the Father, John 14:6, Acts 4:12. We agree with your presupposition that God shows no partiality, Acts 10:34, and that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, Heb 13:8, and we echo the prayer of Isaiah, Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence, as when fire kindles the brushwood, and the fire causes the waters to boil, to make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence, Isa 64:1-2.

We have heard what you have studied, how our fathers have told us what works You did in days of old, Ps 44:1, from ### and ### and ### and ###, ### and ###, ### and ###, ### and ###, through ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, ### and ###, through the awakenings, ### and the ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, ###, ### in ###, ### at ###, and ### in ###, and we agree that the Lord indeed prepared hearts through those seasons and that He can do it again, for with God all things are possible, Matt 19:26. We also take seriously your warning that only one generation failing to teach their children diligently can bring rapid decay, Deut 6:7, Judges 2:10-11, and we commit to pray and to teach faithfully while it is still day, for the night is coming when no one can work, John 9:4, that we may proclaim the kingdom of God with all boldness without hindrance, Acts 28:31.

We affirm your desire for strict obedience and consecration over mere experience, for to obey is better than sacrifice, 1 Sam 15:22, and without holiness no one will see the Lord, Heb 12:14, and as you have said the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, Prov 9:10, and the fear of Yahweh is to hate evil, Prov 8:13. We join you in asking for the fear of the Lord, for hatred of evil, and for freedom from bitterness, greed, lust and deception, and we pray for the fruit of the Spirit to be evident in us, for the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control, Gal 5:22-23. We agree that gifts are given by grace, but humility is developed through suffering and that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, James 4:6, 1 Pet 5:6, and we ask the Lord to keep us from the snares that destroyed many in past generations, the temptations of gold, girls and glory, fame and fortune, that we may not be puffed up, 1 Cor 8:1, nor love money, for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, 1 Tim 6:10, but that we may be content with godliness, 1 Tim 6:6.

We also hear your sober remembrance that the manifest presence of God is a fearful thing, as when they fell backward at the words I am he, John 18:6, as when the place was shaken after they prayed, Acts 4:31, as when the rushing mighty wind filled the house where they were all with one accord, Acts 2:1-4, and as when great fear came upon all the assembly after Ananias and Sapphira fell, Acts 5:5, Acts 5:11. We do not seek signs for their own sake, but we seek the Lord Himself, and we ask Him to prepare our obedience to bear His weight of glory with clean hands and pure hearts, Ps 24:3-4, presenting our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, Rom 12:1, perfecting holiness in the fear of God, 2 Cor 7:1.

So we pray together now, Father, in the name of Jesus, rend the heavens and come down among us again in holy, convicting power that brings deep repentance and true conversion that remains, as You did in the First and Second Great Awakenings and in the revivals of Wales and Lewis, that Your glory may fill the earth as the waters cover the sea, Num 14:21, Ps 72:19, Hab 2:14, and that Your light may rise upon Your people while deep darkness covers the earth, Isa 60:1-2, and that those who turn many to righteousness may shine like the stars forever and ever, Dan 12:3. Grant us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, Eph 1:17, that we may know what is the hope of Your calling and the riches of the glory of Your inheritance, Eph 1:18, and that according to Your mighty power at work in us You would strengthen us with power through Your Spirit in the inward person, Eph 3:16, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, Eph 3:17. You have given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, 2 Pet 1:3, and every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, Eph 1:3, and grace upon grace, John 1:16, help us to add to our faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly affection and love, 2 Pet 1:5-7.

We pray for the salvation of all people, even for kings and all who are in high places, 1 Tim 2:1-4, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence and may fulfill the Great Commission freely, Matt 28:19-20. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one, Matt 6:13, Luke 11:4, keep us from sin and wrongdoing and lies and fear, Zeph 3:13, and make us blameless, 2 Cor 13:7. Deliver us from evil and unreasonable people, 2 Thess 3:2, from those having a form of godliness but denying its power, 2 Tim 3:5, from deceivers and impostors who proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived, 2 Tim 3:13, Titus 1:16, and from false christs and false prophets who show great signs and wonders to deceive, Matt 24:24, 2 Cor 11:14-15, 2 Thess 2:9-10, 1 John 2:18, 1 John 4:1-3, Rev 13:13-14. Guard us against persecution, Rev 12:17, and help us to test every spirit and cling to Your Word, for Your Word is truth, John 17:17.

We thank You for the faithful follow up methods You taught ### through the ### bands and societies, and we ask for apostolic wisdom today to not only reap but to keep and disciple and establish, that converts may be rooted and built up in Christ, Col 2:7. Teach us to walk in strict obedience to Your voice as ### and others underlined, and to walk humbly and in unity as we pray together until You answer. All the promises of God in Him are yes and in Him Amen to the glory of God, 2 Cor 1:20, He who is the Amen, the faithful and true witness, Rev 3:14. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We are grateful for the depth of longing in your prayer and for the way you have steeped yourself in the stories of those who sought God before us. Your hunger for holiness, for real obedience and for a weightier sense of God's presence comes through clearly, and so does your wisdom in asking for humility and the fear of the Lord to go with it.

What has steadied us when we walk with others who carry a similar burden for revival is remembering that formation is more like training than trying. Like preparing for a long race, it is the quiet, repeated faithfulness over time that shapes a life, prayer, hearing Scripture, honest repentance, fellowship and forgiveness, even in small ways. Seeing ourselves as works in progress keeps us both expectant and grounded, and helps keep the heart's motivation rooted in love for Christ rather than in seeking an experience itself.

We are encouraged that you are already asking for protection from bitterness, greed and deception. Staying closely linked with a few trusted believers who can speak honestly, much like the bands and societies Wesley learned to value, is one simple, steady way to guard that humility over the long haul.

Father, we ask You to form in us obedient and humble hearts, to guard us from temptation and from every deceiving influence, and to draw many to know Your salvation. Make us faithful in small things and teach us to trust Your timing and Your ways. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been read before the Lord with deep thankfulness, for it breathes that hunger after holiness and obedience which is itself a token of grace. You ask for what many in former generations sought with tears, that God would rend the heavens and come down, that His manifest presence might be known among us as in days of old when our fathers told us what works He did. We join you in this, remembering that He is the same yesterday, today and forever, and that the zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform what His Word has promised.

We are reminded that the presence of God both demands and creates holiness. The temple becomes holy because God dwells in it, and special communion with the Lord creates special holiness. It is not a light thing to ask for the weightier measure of His Spirit, for where God is in the midst of His people, there must be holiness unto the Lord written upon all things, whether upon the vessels of the sanctuary or upon the bells of the horses. To seek His presence is to seek to be made holy, and to be kept holy. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord, and without holiness the Church, which is His house, cannot stand in the comfort and power of His name.

With this you rightly join obedience. Faith and obedience cannot be divided. Noah being warned of God moved with fear and prepared an ark, and his fear wrought in him diligence and exactness, despising the observations of onlookers and building for his life in brave defiance of the spirit of the age. So must it be with us. The exactness of obedience is the very essence of obedience, to turn not to the right hand nor to the left, but to do whatsoever He saith unto us. Yet let this obedience be not the obedience of a slave tuned to the crack of the whip, but the obedience of a child, the obedience of love and of faith, cheerfully rendered because we believe that the Lord is right and that His call upon us is true. The more of faith in Him we have, the more of obedience to Him we shall manifest, and that obedience will begin at home and find its hands full enough there.

You have well noted the snares which have destroyed many who knew something of power, fame and favour, gold and glory. We have need to pray as you do for the fear of the Lord, which is the hatred of evil, and for deliverance from bitterness, greed, lust and deception. Gifts are given, but humility is developed by suffering, and the Lord in wisdom often leads His servants by affliction lest they be exalted above measure. Let us ask not only for power, but for the lowly heart that can bear it, and for that burden of the Word of the Lord which keeps a man from levity and self seeking. He who bears that burden dares not sport with his ministry, but must walk humbly and watchfully before God.

We thank God for what He did through ### and ###, through ### and ### and ###, through ### and ### and ###, through ### and ### and ###, and in those seasons of awakening when the place was shaken and sinners fell under conviction and the Word ran and was glorified. The Lord who filled the upper room with the sound of a rushing mighty wind, and who made His enemies to fall backward with a word in the garden, is still mighty to save. When Christ is present, His people say, It is the Lord, and the work prospers not by might nor by power but by His Spirit.

Therefore we now make our prayer unto the Lord for you and for all who join you.

O Lord our God, who hast shown Thy power in generations past, rend the heavens and come down among us again. Grant us not a curious seeking after signs, but a holy fear which makes us zealous to leave nothing undone which Thou hast commanded. Give us the obedience of faith, that we may bow our whole minds to Thy Word and do it with cheerfulness and love. Create in us clean hearts and make Thy house holy by Thy indwelling, that secular things may be made sacred and our whole life may be holiness unto the Lord.

Keep us from temptation and deliver us from evil. Guard us from wrongdoing, from lies and fear, from greed and pride, from evil men and deceivers, from false prophets and false wonders. Preserve us from the love of gold and the snare of glory, and clothe us with humility. Let the fear of the Lord keep us, and let Thy Spirit strengthen us in the inner man according to the riches of Thy glory.

We pray for the salvation of many, and even for those in authority, that we may live quiet and peaceable lives and that the Gospel may have free course and be glorified, while it is still day and we may work, before the night cometh when no man can work. Let Thy glory cover the earth as the waters cover the sea, and let Thy light shine upon the righteous while deep darkness covers the people. Make those who turn many to righteousness to shine as the stars forever.

We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Christ is worthy, who came into the world to save sinners, and through whom we have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Let the zeal of the Lord of Hosts perform this, to the praise of Thy grace. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for a greater and weightier measure of the holy presence of God through obedience has been received with thanksgiving, and it is right that you ask in this way. You have asked not for display or for power to be seen by men, but for the fear of the Lord, for hatred of evil, and for freedom from bitterness, greed, lust and deception. This is the prayer God delights to answer.

You have rightly seen that obedience must be in singleness of heart, fearing God. It is not eye service as men pleasers, doing what is right only when the master is watching. Scripture says God has scattered the bones of the men pleasers. True obedience is to do what is right when no eye sees you but the sleepless Eye of God. If you fear Him in secret, you will walk in holiness when you are seen as well. That singleness is what prepares the heart for His presence.

You also ask for humility knowing that gifts are given but humility is learned through suffering. This is true. You named David, John the Baptist, Peter, James, John and Paul, and our Lord Himself. All were formed through trial. You are wise to be on guard against what has destroyed many, the love of gold and glory and impurity. These temptations come strongly when God entrusts power to men. Therefore pray as you have prayed, for the fear of the Lord and for a life that perfects holiness in the fear of God. For holiness with us is not only to turn from idols, but to be holy in body and spirit, to follow peace with all men and holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

You have studied the histories of revivals and missions, from Brainerd and Patrick and Carey and Judson and Livingstone, to Luther and Calvin and Whitefield and Wesley and Edwards and Finney and Moody and Spurgeon and Muller and Booth and Roberts and Seymour and Campbell. Give thanks for what God did in those generations, and take warning also. As you noted, it takes only one generation that fails to teach its children for decay to come again. God is the same yesterday and today and forever, and the mystery long kept secret is now made manifest by the Scriptures of the Prophets according to the command of the everlasting God, to bring about the obedience of faith. He is still of power to establish you according to the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ. He still shakes the place where His people pray together, as He did for the apostles, and He still brings deep conviction of sin when His people walk in strict obedience and consecration. Pray that He would do it again, but seek first the inward reality rather than the outward sign.

We join you in prayer to our Father through Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation. We ask that He would grant you strength in the inner man according to the riches of His glory, that you would know the love of Christ and be filled with all the fullness of God. We ask that He would keep you from temptation and deliver you from evil, from sin and falsehood and fear, from greed and from deceivers and false prophets and false signs and wonders, from the love of men pleasing and from every snare of the enemy. We ask that He would give you grace to lead many to righteousness and to walk in love toward one another, for that peace is the mark of His disciples.

Continue as you have begun, in prayer together, in small bands and societies for mutual watchfulness as Wesley learned from the Moravians, in teaching your children diligently, in humble obedience when no one is watching. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all, to establish you and keep you blameless until He comes, whose glory shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Your prayer expresses a deep hunger for God Himself and for His holiness to be real in daily life, and that is a good and biblical desire. The Lord does not change. He is the same yesterday and today and forever, and what He has done in the past He is able to do again. At the same time Scripture shows that His manifest presence is weighty and fearful. When He draws near in power, hills melt like wax, the wilderness shakes, and sinners are gripped with fear. It is right to ask for that presence with reverence and with a prepared heart.

Holiness is not an outward matter of appearance or performance. It is a matter of the heart, a desire for God that grows as we live in the consciousness that we are always before Him. We do not enter His presence only when we gather to worship. His eyes are everywhere and we never escape His presence. To walk day by day aware that He sees, that He hears, and that He is near, is what deepens holiness. Worshiping Him in the beauty of that holiness is to love what He loves and to hate what He hates.

That is why obedience is so central to what you are asking. From the beginning the covenant has called for hearing His voice and keeping His commands. Obedience is not a way to earn His favor but the path of fellowship with Him. When we walk in His ways we come under the shelter of His protection. He is our light and our salvation, the strength of our lives, and He fights for His people. Fear is the enemy of faith, but the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It teaches us to hate evil, to turn from every evil work, and to walk in righteousness and truth. There is no lack to those who fear Him. He encamps around those who fear Him, He preserves the souls of His saints and delivers them, and He sows light for the righteous.

You are wise to connect power with humility and with suffering. Gifts are given, but humility is formed through trials. The history you have studied shows both how God pours out His Spirit and how power brings temptation through pride and the love of money and immorality and the desire for recognition. Many have fallen through those very things. To ask for the fear of the Lord, for freedom from bitterness and greed and lust and deception, is to ask for the necessary guard around any work of God. Without a holy hatred of evil and a continual denying of the flesh to take up the cross and follow Him, we are not ready to carry more of His weight.

The voice of the Lord is powerful and full of majesty. It breaks cedars and divides flames of fire and makes the forests bare, and in His temple all speak of His glory. That same voice still speaks. When we meditate on His Word and speak often of Him to one another, He listens and He draws near. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul, and the one who meditates in it is like a tree planted by water, fruitful and enduring.

So I join you in praying that the Lord would grant a greater measure of consecration and strict obedience to His voice, not for experience alone but for Christ to be formed in us. I pray that He would deepen the fear of the Lord in us, give us a hatred for evil, keep us from deception and false signs and wonders, and guard us from the temptations that accompany influence. I pray that He would keep us humble, establish us in love, and strengthen us in the inner person by His Spirit according to the riches of His glory. I pray that He would hide us in His pavilion in the time of trouble and teach us to walk in righteousness, so that whatever work He does will be for His glory alone.

May the Lord cause His light to shine while darkness covers the earth, and may many be turned to righteousness. May He fulfill His promise that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of His glory, and may we be found faithful to pray and to obey until that day, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.
