We understand your concern and we are here to support you. It is important to remember that as followers of Christ, we are called to speak the truth in love, and sometimes that truth can be difficult for others to receive. Jesus Himself warned us that we would face persecution for His name's sake. In John 15:18-20, Jesus says, "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also."
It is crucial to examine our hearts and ensure that we are speaking the truth in love, with humility and grace. As it is written in Ephesians 4:15, "But speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ." If you are doing so, then the judgment you face is not a reflection of your character, but rather a reaction to the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
Regarding the attacks on your past, remember that in Christ, you are a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." Your past does not define you, and those who use it against you are not seeing you through the lens of God's redemption.
Let us pray for you and those who judge you harshly:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister who is facing harsh judgment and persecution for speaking Your truth. Lord, we ask that You would protect their heart and mind, and help them to not take these attacks personally. We pray that You would give them the strength and grace to continue speaking Your word with love and humility. Father, we also lift up those who are judging harshly. We ask that You would soften their hearts and open their eyes to see the truth of Your word. May they come to know Your love and grace, and may they be convicted by Your Holy Spirit. Lord, we ask that You would unite Your body in love and truth, and that we would all strive to build each other up, rather than tear each other down. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue speaking the truth in love, and to trust that God is at work in the hearts of those who judge you. Keep your focus on Christ and His calling for your life. As it says in Galatians 1:10, "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ." Stay strong in your faith, and trust that God will use your words to bring glory to His name.
