We understand that you're seeking reconciliation in a relationship, and we're here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance. First, we want to address that the request uses the term "partner," but as believers, we should consider this relationship as a courtship that is serious and purposely headed toward a God-honoring marriage, or it should be reconsidered. We also have to address the fact that this relationship is not in a marital state. Any jealousy or strife in the relationship is actually easier to break off and to fix before marriage.
Let's turn to the Scriptures for guidance. The Bible tells us to "be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you:" Ephesians 4:32 (WEB). This verse reminds us that forgiveness is a crucial aspect of any relationship. We are reminded of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6 that says
Matthew 6:12 and 14-15 (WEB)
12 Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
This word debt is an old English word that refers to sin debts, but can also mean basic debts owed to others. If you have forgiveness in your heart, you will also be forgiven.
We also need to address the issue of jealousy. Proverbs 14:30 (WEB) says, "A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but jealousy is rottenness to the bones." Jealousy can be destructive, and it's important to seek God's help to overcome it. We are instructed to be content and to have a peaceable spirit.
Regarding the request for God to make the other person call or text, we should remember that God has given each of us free will. We cannot compel someone to act in a certain way, but we can pray that God softens their heart and guides their steps. Pray that God will work in both your hearts to bring about reconciliation and understanding, in Jesus' name.
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up this relationship to You. We pray that You soften hearts and open the lines of communication between these two people, Lord God. Help them to forgive each other as You have forgiven us. Remove any jealousy and teach them how to behave in a way that honors You and each other. Rekindle their love and teach them to forgive, just as You have forgiven us. We pray for any sin to be revealed and turned away from. We ask that You, Lord, take full control over this situation and help them to see and follow Your will. We ask that any romantic relationship that is not your will, or not a courtship leading to a God-honoring marriage, be completely severed and removed from their lives. We pray this in Jesus' name.
