Let us begin by remembering that reconciliation and forgiveness are at the heart of the gospel. Jesus Christ has reconciled us to God, and we are to be ambassadors of this reconciliation in our own lives (2 Corinthians 5:18-20, WEB).

Firstly, it is important that this discussion is approached with understanding and openness. First we need to understand how you are in this situation. You mention "our relationship," but it is not clear what this relationship is. If this is a courtship, we pray that it is one centered on Christ and headed toward a God-honoring marriage. If this is not a marriage currently, it is important to recognize that any intimacy outside of marriage is not acceptable to God. We are called to flee from sexual immorality and to control our own body in holiness and honor (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, WEB).

Regarding the reconciliation, it is crucial to seek God's will and to be open to His leading. We are commanded to forgive as we have been forgiven (Ephesians 4:32, WEB). However, forgiveness does not always mean that a relationship should be continued or rebuilt, especially if there are patterns of harm, a lack of repentance, or ungodliness.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your will and guidance in this situation. We pray that You would soften her heart and open it to the possibility of reconciliation and forgiveness if it aligns with Your will. Give them both wisdom and discernment as they navigate this discussion, and help them to be open and honest with each other and with You.

Lord, we also pray for conviction and repentance of any sin that may have led to this need for reconciliation. Help them to turn away from any wrongdoing and to walk in newness of life. If this relationship is not honoring to You, we pray that You would give them the strength to end it and to wait upon You for the spouse that You have prepared for them.

Finally, Lord, we pray for healing and restoration. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven them, and to seek Your will above all else. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Please be alert for the Lord's will. We do not always want what is good for us. If the relationship is not God honoring, it is better for it to be exposed and ended. These discussions can be challenging, but remember that God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). Trust in Him, and He will make a way.

Help them to have open hearts and minds, ready to listen and understand each other's perspectives. Give them the courage to forgive, even when it's hard, and the wisdom to know when to let go and move on.

Lord, we also ask for your guidance. Help them to discern your will in this situation. If this relationship is not honoring to you, give them the strength to walk away and trust in your plan for their lives.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
