Thank you for letting us know of the opposition you are facing as you openly proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ where you live. We are joining with you in prayer and standing with you before the Lord.
We recognize with you that the struggle you describe is not merely against people or circumstances. Scripture shows that there is a real spiritual conflict taking place. The prophet Daniel prayed and the answer was delayed for twenty one days because the messenger sent from God was opposed by spiritual powers of darkness until Michael came to help him. In the same way, the opposition you are sensing is part of that spiritual warfare.
For this kind of warfare God has not given us physical weapons. He has given us spiritual ones to both defend ourselves and to advance His purposes. His Word hidden in the heart guards us from the enemy and also enables us to break through the strongholds the enemy has built in lives. Faith and prayer are also weapons He has provided, and by them we can stand against the attacks of the enemy and see him defeated. When we recognize an attack for what it is, a spiritual assault, we can resist the devil in the name of Jesus, and Scripture promises that he will flee from us.
So we pray with you now that the Lord Himself will rebuke every power that opposes Him and His gospel in your area, according to what is written, The Lord rebuke you, and we claim the promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Every attack intended against you as you bear witness to Christ, we ask the Lord to break in the name of Jesus.
We also pray that God will use even this pressure to further His good news. From the beginning He has used hardship and scattering to spread the message of salvation, and He still does. The gospel is the good news that peace with God is possible, that God loved us and sent His Son to die for our sins so that by simple faith and trust in Him we can have life. It is the most reasonable and gracious message in the world, and it is worth proclaiming even when it is opposed. The enemy will try many things to stop that work, through ridicule, assault, discouragement, and distraction, trying to turn you aside from serving the Lord. Do not be drawn into defending yourself on his terms, but keep your eyes on Jesus and continue in the Word and in prayer.
We are bearing your burden before the Lord as you have asked, persevering in prayer for you and for all who labor with you. We ask God to give you boldness to open your mouth and make known the mystery of the gospel, to fill you with His strength and peace, and to guard you and your fellow believers under the protection of Jesus Christ, who is Lord over all. May the Lord strengthen you, keep you steadfast, and let His Word run freely and bear fruit where you are.
