REBUILD MY MARRIAGE
ON THE ROCK
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.†Matthew 7:24-27
Which storm of life is trying to destroy your marriage? What storm is beating on your home right now? Is it abuse, alcohol, adultery or drug addiction or being a workaholic? I understand that you are wounded, shocked and your heart is torn in two. Are you walking in fear as to how you are going to rescue your marriage? Today, turn your life over to your Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to become the Master Builder for your marriage and family. Nothing is too hard for the Lord.
As you start praying about rebuilding your marriage, be sure you build it according to God's plans. Do not rebuild your marriage according to your own human ideas, plans and efforts. Your marriage needs to be rebuilt on a strong foundation which is the solid rock of Jesus Christ. You need to pray daily. Ask God to become the Architect as He will draw up all new blueprints for your new remodeled marriage. When you allow God to be your Architect, He will give you so many new ideas of how to rebuild your marriage that will last forever as you and your spouse are one flesh. The Contractor will be your Lord Jesus Christ and your personal Builder will be the Holy Spirit.
Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat--for he grants sleep to those he loves. Psalm 127:1-2
Do not allow the destruction of your marriage to destroy your faith in what the Lord can do in resurrecting your dead marriage. Do not live by your emotions and feelings of hopelessness. Your Lord God can rebuild, restore and make your marriage to be better than it was previously, if only you will surrender your heart and life to the Lord as you follow His plan, purpose and instructions for marriage restoration.
We must learn the precepts and principles of the Bible to be able to make your marriage stand firm. Many times we want to ignore certain chapters of the Bible, but you must build a strong foundation for your marriage.
Are you praying and reading God’s Word every day? You would be very surprised how many standers are deceived not to do this daily. My marriage crumbled because I did not know God’s Word on know how to pray properly. You need to grow in wisdom and knowledge of the Word, to understand and then apply the Word of God to your daily life. Will you make the time to pray for your marriage, lost loved ones, co-workers, friends and other marriages? Will you become a doer of the Word, not a hearer only? Allow the Holy Spirit to transform you and your children first. Your husband and wife and others will notice a difference in your speech, attitude and behavior. Bob saw the difference in me, but he thought I would act differently for a short season, not forever. Then the Holy Spirit will speak His truth to prodigals and they will start coming home and marriages will be restored.
Do you remember the story about Noah who was told by God to build an ark to save his family? If you have not read the story in Genesis 6 recently, read it tonight as part of your devotions. God gave Noah very specific instructions and plans on how to build the ark. If Noah had made it his way, the boat would have sunk. Will you allow God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit tell you how to rebuild your marriage one brick at a time? Are you willing to be obedient to the Lord's will and ways for your marriage to be rebuilt for the sake of your spouse and loved ones? Ask the Architect, the Contractor and the Builder what needs to be done in your marriage. They will guide and direct your every step and give you instructions on what has to be done first, second and third in your marriage and also in your spiritual home.
Your Lord God can rebuild what was destroyed. He can restore what looks impossible and reignite the love that appears to be dead right now. God is able to do this for you, your spouse and for your children. God created marriage. God hates divorce. The only condition is that He wants you to become a new creature in Christ, a child of God. You can learn to walk in faith daily. Never lose your hope in the power of God Almighty. Trust the Lord daily that He will complete the task of rebuilding your marriage, regardless of the damage, on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. Will you proclaim your thankfulness to God as you give Him all the glory, honor and praise for all the miracles and answers to prayers that He is doing in restoring and rebuilding your marriage?
Are you willing to roll up your sleeves? Become like a Noah. Start being obedient to God’s instructions in using your saw, hammer and nails in rebuilding your marriage. Will you trust the greatest Builder to rebuild and restore your marriage? Your way is not His way! When He finishes rebuilding your marriage on the solid rock, it will be full of beautiful treasures and a masterpiece showing the amazing work of the Lord, with everyone praising and proclaiming to others what He has done!
By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. Proverbs 24:3-4
