We lift up your concerns before the Father, knowing that He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. The storms and floods you speak of remind us of His power over creation, yet we also know He cares deeply for the safety of His children. The Psalmist declares, *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling"* (Psalm 46:1-3, WEB). He is sovereign over the winds and the rains, and we trust Him to protect those who are vulnerable in this time of danger.
We pray earnestly for your friends who must work at construction sites and in the mountains during this rainstorm. Father, we ask that You surround them with Your divine protection, shielding them from harm, accidents, and the dangers of flooding. Place Your angels around them as a hedge of safety, and grant them wisdom to make decisions that honor their well-being. We pray specifically that the government authorities would act swiftly and hoist the black rainstorm signal without delay, so that no one is forced to travel through treacherous waters or face unnecessary risks. *"The Lord preserves the simple. I was brought low, and he saved me"* (Psalm 116:6, WEB). May His preserving hand be upon every worker, keeping them from danger and guiding them to safe shelter.
We also pray for the hearts of those in authority, that they would act with wisdom, compassion, and urgency. *"The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires"* (Proverbs 21:1, WEB). May they be moved by the Holy Spirit to prioritize the safety of the people, making decisions that prevent tragedy and loss.
For those who may feel anxious or fearful in this time, we declare the peace of Christ over them. *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). May they rest in the assurance that God is with them, even in the storm.
