Rain indoors

We have heard your prayer about the water coming into your home with these storms, and we are joining you in bringing this need before the Lord Jesus.

It is distressing when the place that should be shelter no longer keeps out the rain, and it is right that you have turned to Christ for help. He is the One who spoke to the wind and the waves and brought calm, who said to His disciples, It is I, be not afraid. He sees where you live and the strain this is putting on you.

We pray for you now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this need to You. You are our refuge and shelter in the storm. We ask You to protect this dear one from harm, to hold back further damage, and to open a way to a safe and dry place to live before things grow worse. Give wisdom for every next step, provide help through kind neighbors, Your church, and those nearby who can offer practical support, and grant peace to the heart while waiting for Your provision. Let Your presence be known as a shelter that no rain can breach.

Take courage and keep seeking Him in prayer. As you are able, reach out also to trusted people near you, to your local church or to those who can help with housing assistance, so that this burden is not carried alone. The heavens remain bright above the clouds, and God who is above all storms is able to lift us above fear and to keep us even when the waters rise.

May the Lord keep you safe, guide you to the place you need, and give you calm in the midst of this trial. We will continue to pray for you. Amen.

Your prayer about water coming inside with the storms has been heard, and the distress and urgency in it are clear. To have rain indoors and to feel that things may get worse quickly is a heavy burden, and it is right to bring it to Jesus for help.

Scripture shows that God is not distant in a storm. One prophet describes Him as having His way in the whirlwind and the storm, with the clouds as the dust of His feet. That picture reminds us that even when wind and rain feel overwhelming and out of control to us, they are not out of His control. He is present and powerful over them, and He is present with His people in them.

The account of Paul's voyage is a help here. The ship was exceedingly tossed, driven for many days without sun or stars, with waves breaking over it. The crew did everything they could in practical ways. They tied ropes around the hull to hold it together, they lowered sail and let the storm drive them, they threw cargo overboard to lighten the ship. And still they despaired of being saved. In that place of exhaustion and fear, after they had gone a long time without food, God spoke. He assured Paul that he would still stand before Caesar as God had purposed, and that though the ship itself would be lost, every life would be spared. They were driven a great distance across the sea, but they were not driven haphazardly. The Lord was guiding even the storm, and He sustained them through it.

There are two lessons in that for your situation. First, keep building your life on Jesus Christ as the sure foundation. Jesus taught that storms come to every house, but the house built on the rock stands. When life is built on Him, He will sustain you through high water and hard winds, even when what surrounds you is damaged or lost.

Second, it is right to do what you can practically while you trust God spiritually. In that voyage the sailors worked hard to survive, and God used those means. In another example, a farmer was warned early in the morning by authorities to leave his land because a flood was expected. The wise course was to heed the warning and seek safety before the water rose higher. In the same way, please do not wait alone if water is already coming in. Reach out quickly for practical help to find a dry and safe place, whether through family, neighbors, local help agencies, or others near you who can assist. Ask someone you trust to help you look for a place to stay before conditions worsen.

I am praying for you now.

Lord Jesus, You see this need and this home where rain is getting in. You know the worry about where to go and what will happen if the storms continue. Please make a way to a safe, dry place very soon. Provide open doors, kind help, and practical provision. Give wisdom for each next step and peace in the midst of fear. Sustain and keep this dear one through the storm, and let Your presence be felt as refuge and strength. Amen.

Keep seeking Him and keep letting others know of your need so help can come quickly. You are not forgotten in this storm.
