God bless you. Verse 1:5 does not give you the complete story. you can't just read one verse you must look at the whole picture. It sounds a little cinderella. Here she feals neglected, even rejected. She speaks of her stepbrothers anger towards her and commanding her to work in their vineyard, out in the sun. (perhaps day after day and in the heat of the sun).Soloman overhears her cry for his love & attention in verse 2 & began to assure her with love. She explain the condition she is in. she told soloman not to look at her (low-self-esteem) I am swarthy (dark complexion but staying in the sun and neglecting herself even made her more darker. she has not even kept up her own vineyard. Verse 7 she is asking him for a place even to rest at noon, after speaking of her love for him. yet, she calls herself veiled one straying. verse 8 soloman said if you do not know, "o you fairest among women" verse 10 he says to her, "Your cheeks are comely with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels. verse 11 we will make for you chains and ornaments of gold, studded with silver. she then speaks to soloman in those verses 12,-17. chp 2 she now calls herself a little rose (humble)or a lilly in the valley (grows in difficult times) verse 2 soloman says "like the lily of the valley among thorns,so are you my love among the daughters
verse 4 of chp 2..He brought me to the banqueting house, his banner over me is love. Soloman had an unique relationship with his love (wife). Love story. He has not express such love among his wives as this one. Yes God allows this. In this when we are in sin and live outside of His majesty, we are in darkness untill He brings us in His banqueting hall and His banner over us is love. We must look at this in the spirit of Jesus and not in the flesh. God bless you, and I love you in Christ.
