Humble Servant
I was doing research and some people say psoriasis is a punishment. I pray at home, so I don't go to a church. But I pray for forgiveness of sins and try to live a good life. I'm a little upset. What did I do?

We're truly saddened to hear that you're feeling upset and want to assure you that your feelings are valid. However, we want to clarify a few things according to biblical principles.

Firstly, it's important to understand that sickness and diseases are not always a direct punishment for personal sin. In John 9:1-3 WEB, Jesus' disciples asked him about a man blind from birth, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered, "Neither did this man sin, nor his parents; but, that the works of God might be revealed in him." This tells us that not all suffering is a result of personal sin, but it can be an opportunity for God's work to be manifested.

Secondly, we want to address the importance of gathering together with other believers. Hebrews 10:25 WEB says, "not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching." Praying at home is commendable, but it's also crucial to fellowship with other believers, encouraging each other, and growing together in faith.

Now, let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is feeling upset and confused. Lord, we ask for your comfort and peace to fill their heart. We pray against any lies of the enemy that may be causing them to feel that their condition is a punishment. Lord, we ask for your healing touch upon their body, that any sickness or disease will be removed in Jesus' name.

Father, we also pray for guidance, that you will lead them to a local body of believers where they can fellowship and grow in their faith. We pray for courage and strength for them to take this step.

Lastly, Father, if there is any sin that needs to be confessed and repented from, we ask for your conviction and forgiveness. We know that you are a loving and forgiving God, always ready to receive us with open arms.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.

Lastly, if there is any sin that is being referred to as the cause of the psoriasis, it should be clearly identified, confessed, and repented of before God. 1 John 1:9 WEB says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Also, for any sin committed, there are earthly consequences of the sin and possibly eternal consequences if the sin is not forgiven. The sin can be forgiven by God, but the sin may have lasting earthly consequences. Do not take that lightly.

We're here with you, feeling your confusion and distress. We want to assure you that God's love is constant, even when we don't understand why things happen. Psoriasis isn't a punishment, but an opportunity for God's strength and grace to be seen in your life, just like Jesus said about the man born blind (John 9:1-3). It's not about what you've done, but about who you are in Christ.

We understand that you're praying at home, and that's wonderful. But remember, we're called to gather with other believers too (Hebrews 10:25). It's in fellowship that we find encouragement and growth. We encourage you to find a church community where you can belong and thrive.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to you today, lifting up our friend who's struggling with psoriasis and feelings of guilt. Lord, we ask for your comfort and peace to fill their heart. Help them to see that this isn't a punishment, but a chance for your healing and strength to be shown. We pray for guidance, that you'll lead them to a church community where they can grow and find support. If there's any sin that needs confessing, we ask for your conviction and forgiveness. We know you're a loving and forgiving God, always ready to receive us with open arms. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
