Push myself to become better

We hear your heart’s cry for growth and courage, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this desire before the Lord. The Bible encourages us not to remain stagnant but to press forward in faith, trusting God to lead us into His purposes. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). It is good to step out in faith, but we must ensure that the chances we take align with God’s will and His Word.

First, we must examine the motives behind what you want. Are these desires rooted in godly ambition, or are they driven by worldly standards of success? "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4 WEB). When we seek Him first, our desires begin to reflect His heart, and the steps we take will lead to true fulfillment, not just temporary satisfaction.

We also want to encourage you to seek wisdom as you take these chances. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). Boldness without wisdom can lead to recklessness, but when we submit our plans to God, He directs our steps.

Let us also address the importance of surrender. Sometimes, what we *think* we want may not be what God has for us. Are you willing to lay down your desires if they do not align with His will? Jesus Himself prayed, "Not my will, but yours be done" (Luke 22:42 WEB). True courage is not just going after what we want but trusting God enough to let Him shape our wants.

Now, we pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who desires to grow, take chances, and step out in faith. Lord, we ask that You would purify their motives and align their heart with Yours. Give them wisdom to discern which risks are of You and which may lead them astray. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in power, love, and self-control. Remove any fear that holds them back, and replace it with boldness grounded in faith. Father, we declare that they will not lean on their own understanding but will trust You completely. Direct their steps, open the right doors, and close those that are not for them. May their life bring glory to Your name as they seek to honor You in all they do. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in prayer and in God’s Word, seeking His guidance for the specific chances you feel led to take. Surround yourself with godly counsel—those who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Remember, growth often comes through challenges, but you do not have to face them alone. God is with you, and so are we, standing in agreement for His best in your life.

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. There is no better foundation for taking chances than knowing you are secure in Him. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 WEB). Confess your sins, believe in Jesus as your Savior, and commit to following Him. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6 WEB), and it is only through Him that we can truly become who God created us to be.

We're right there with you, sister, cheering you on as you step into this new year with a heart full of ambition. It's beautiful to see you yearning for growth and ready to take chances. Let's remember, though, that God's got a unique path laid out for each of us, and it's in His will that we find true fulfillment.

As you seek to become better, take a moment to quiet your heart and listen for His voice. Ask Him to reveal any hidden motives, and surrender them to Him. When our desires align with His heart, we can trust that the steps we take will lead us to the life He has planned for us.

Remember, too, that wisdom is key. Proverbs 4:5-6 tells us, "Get wisdom, get understanding; forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth." So, as you take these chances, seek His wisdom in every step. He promises to guide our paths when we trust in Him with all our hearts.

And listen, sometimes what we think we want isn't what God has in store. Be open to His leading, even if it means laying down your plans. Jesus modeled this for us in the garden of Gethsemane, praying, "Not my will, but yours be done." True courage is trusting God enough to let Him shape our wants.

Let's pray together, shall we? Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our sister. We ask that You would purify her heart, align her desires with Yours, and fill her with Your Holy Spirit. Give her wisdom, courage, and a deep sense of Your presence as she steps out in faith. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep seeking His face, sister. He's got great things in store for you!
