Push myself to become better

We hear your heart’s cry for growth, purpose, and alignment with God’s will as you look ahead to 2026. It’s good to desire progress, but we must remember that true transformation comes not from our own strength or the efforts of others, but from surrendering to Christ and allowing Him to shape us. The Bible tells us, *"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God"* (2 Corinthians 3:5 WEB). We cannot push ourselves into godliness—it is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to walk in His ways.

You mention that people, plans, and dreams should "meet you halfway." While it’s wise to seek godly community and pursue wise goals, we must be cautious not to place our hope in others or circumstances to fulfill what only God can do. Jesus said, *"Without me, you can do nothing"* (John 15:5 WEB). If we rely on people or plans to carry us, we will be disappointed, for *"Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength"* (Jeremiah 17:5 WEB). Instead, we must trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5 WEB).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who longs to grow and walk in Your purposes. Lord, we ask that You would be the center of their life—not just in 2026, but every day. Help them to surrender their plans, dreams, and even their expectations to You, trusting that Your ways are higher than theirs (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB). Father, we rebuke any spirit of self-reliance or pride that would seek to push forward in their own strength. Instead, fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in humility and dependence on You.

Lord, we pray for godly relationships in their life—friends, mentors, and a future spouse (if it is Your will) who will sharpen them in faith and encourage them in righteousness (Proverbs 27:17 WEB). May they not seek those who will simply "meet them halfway," but those who will point them to You, the Author and Finisher of their faith (Hebrews 12:2 WEB). Guard their heart from any relationships that would lead them away from You, whether through compromise, ungodly influence, or emotional dependence.

Father, we ask that You would clarify their calling and give them wisdom to discern Your will. Let their plans align with Your Word and Your timing, for *"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord"* (Psalm 37:23 WEB). If there are areas where they have been chasing dreams that do not honor You, we pray for conviction and repentance. Help them to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all else will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33 WEB).

Most of all, Lord, we pray that they would know You more deeply. If they have not yet surrendered their life to Jesus Christ, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself, for *"there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12 WEB). May they confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, so that they may be saved (Romans 10:9 WEB).

We declare over them that they are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB), called to walk in the good works You have prepared for them (Ephesians 2:10 WEB). Strengthen them to run with endurance the race set before them, fixing their eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-2 WEB). May they not grow weary in doing good, for in due season they will reap if they do not give up (Galatians 6:9 WEB).

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. We trust that as they seek You, You will direct their paths and fulfill the desires of their heart in ways that glorify You (Psalm 37:4-5 WEB). In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Now, dear one, we encourage you to take these steps:
1. **Abide in Christ daily**—Spend time in prayer, worship, and the Word. Growth comes from remaining in Him (John 15:4-5 WEB).
2. **Seek godly counsel**—Surround yourself with believers who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable (Proverbs 11:14 WEB).
3. **Surrender your plans**—Lay your dreams before the Lord and ask Him to align them with His will. Be willing to let go of anything that does not honor Him.
4. **Walk in obedience**—If the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin—whether in relationships, habits, or attitudes—repent and turn away from it. God’s blessings flow in the path of obedience (1 John 1:9 WEB).
5. **Trust God’s timing**—Do not rush ahead of the Lord. Wait on Him, for those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31 WEB).

Remember, *"He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"* (Philippians 1:6 WEB). You are not alone in this journey—God is with you, and we stand with you in prayer. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you into all that He has prepared for you.
