Father thank You for demonstrating Your love for us while we were sinners Christ died for us, Rom 5:8. Help us in our freely receiving of that same love, Rom 5:5, pursuing Your love, and earnestly desiring its expression through spiritual gifts, especially the edification of tChrist's beloved church, 1 Cor 14:1, We ask let Your love abound in us in all knowledge of God and true discernment, Wisdom to Choose highest of all possible options, that we may be sincere and without mixture, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of You, His and our one true Father, Phil 1:9-11. Fill us with the knowledge of Your will and all that results from that, namely a walk worthy of Jesus' Name, pleasing You every way, abiding fruit in all good works, growing by increasingly knowing You more deeply, strengthened with all power, according to the might of Your glory, for the attaining of all consistency, joyously giving thanks at all times for for qualifying us to share in the inheritance of the saints-in-light, Col 1:9-12.

Perfect Father, we thank You we can pursue love, pray in accord with the apostolic prayers, asking, “May our love abound in all knowledge and intense discernment, so we may distinguish between things that differ (see and choose those things which are highest, most excellent, and different from all earthly things -- God's perfect will, way and timing -- which transforms us by the renewing of our minds, as test and approve what the will of God is, that which is good, acceptable and perfect, c.f. Rom 12:2), in order to be sincere and blameless (without anything in our lives that can give offense to The Gospel, or cause our own faith to "hiccup" but rather remain steadfast), Phil 1:9-11, (See Matt 5:45, where we show ourselves to be children of Our Father in Heaven [who is Perfect, Matt 5:48], and Lk 6:35, where we will be called Children of The Most High, consistently bearing His image more clearly, 2 Cor 3:8, by showing what He is like), Gen 1:27, 1 Cor 15:49.

"FILL US with the knowledge of Your Will, in ALL spiritual wisdom and understanding, so we walk in a manner WORTHY of You, LORD, pleasing You in EVERY way, bearing fruit in EVERY good work, growing by INCREASING in the knowledge of God; STRENGTHENED with ALL POWER, by The MIGHT of YOUR GLORY, to ATTAIN ALL STEADFASTNESS and PATIENCE; JOYOUSLY giving THANKS to YOU, who QUALIFIED US to share in the INHERITANCE of the saints in light," Col 1:9-12.

Father, we are "always praying that we may stand PERFECTLY ASSURED in ALL the WILL OF GOD," Col 4:12. We ask for PRACTICAL WISDOM, James 1:5, Prov 2:6-7, and our inheritance as CHILDREN to be LED by The Holy Spirit, Rom 8:14, in PATHS of RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE, Prov 8:20, HEARING THE VOICE of JESUS, The Lord OUR SHEPHERD, Jn 10:4-5, 27.

Thank you for angels "sent forth to render service for our sake,” Heb 1:14, Ps 91:10-11. Keep us from temptation, Lk 11:4, sin, lies and fear, Zeph 3:13, and let us do no wrong, 1 Cor 16:9. Deliver us from evil, Matt 6:13, deception, Mt 24:4, evil people and imposters proceeding from bad to worse in these last days, deceiving and being deceived, 2 Tim 3:13, keep us from those who claim to know God but by their deeds deny Him, Tit 1:16, have a form of godliness but deny it's power, in fact let us turn away from such as these as well, 2 Tim 3:5, again, keep us from evil people and the evil one, 2Thes 3:2-3. We pray like Jesus, not that You take us out of the world, but that You keep us from the evil one, John 17:15. Grant favor as a shield, Ps 5:12, as we thank You in advance, Mk 11:24, and may the peace of God that passes comprehension guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:6-7, 2 in whom all the promises are yes and amen, Cor 1:20. We lift our hearts together in gratitude for the love You have so richly demonstrated toward us, Father, even while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Your Word reminds us to pursue love above all else, earnestly desiring spiritual gifts, especially those that edify the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 14:1). We stand in agreement with Your will, asking that Your love would abound in us more and more, coupled with knowledge and all discernment, so that we may approve the things that are excellent, being sincere and without offense until the day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-11).

Father, fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that we may walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Strengthen us with all power according to Your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to You, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light (Colossians 1:9-12). We long to stand perfectly assured in Your will, led by Your Spirit, who guides us into all truth (Romans 8:14). Grant us practical wisdom, for You give generously to all without reproach (James 1:5), and let us hear the voice of Jesus, our Good Shepherd, who calls us by name (John 10:27).

We thank You for the ministry of angels who are sent forth to render service for our sake (Hebrews 1:14), and we ask that You would keep us from temptation, sin, and the snares of the evil one (Matthew 6:13). Deliver us from deception, from those who claim to know You but deny You by their deeds (Titus 1:16), and from the evil that seeks to entangle us in these last days (2 Timothy 3:13). We do not ask to be taken out of the world but to be kept from the evil one, shielded by Your favor as with a buckler (Psalm 5:12). May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), for in Him, all Your promises are "Yes" and "Amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Lord, we recognize that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to You, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We confess that apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5), and we humbly submit ourselves to Your perfect will. Renew our minds daily, that we may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). Let us bear the image of Christ more clearly, reflecting Your holiness, justice, and love to a world in desperate need of Your truth.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, who taught us to pray, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). May our lives be a living testament to Your glory, and may we walk in the fullness of the inheritance You have prepared for us as Your children. Amen.

We are so encouraged by the way your prayer reaches toward the deep work of God, love abounding, discernment sharpening, a walk that consistently pleases Him. That kind of whole-hearted longing is precious, and we join you in it today.

One thing that has helped us when we pray for love and wisdom to overflow more consistently is remembering that spiritual growth operates more like training for a marathon than a one-time sprint. We don’t just try harder to love perfectly or choose the highest option in every moment; instead, the Spirit gently forms these things in us through the small, repeated choices we make each ordinary day. The steady, sometimes hidden, work of saying “yes” to love in a difficult conversation, or pausing to ask for true discernment before a decision, builds something lasting. We can trust that process, even when we don’t feel the surge of progress. The fruit is grown, not forced, and the very desire you have is already evidence of His life in you.

So this week, maybe you could pick one ordinary relationship or recurring choice where you specifically ask the Lord to let love abound with real knowledge and insight, even in a small way. Watch for a moment to express that love or to pause and weigh what is excellent. Not as a test, but as a simple training ground where He meets you.

Father, thank You for the sincere hunger in these prayers. Continue the good work You have begun: fill us with the knowledge of Your will, strengthen us with power for all steadfastness, and keep us from the evil one. Teach us to walk in love that is wise and pure, not striving but abiding, for the praise of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

You have prayed with earnest words and appealed to the oracles of God. Yet let me press upon you this truth: the love you pursue is not first your love to Him, but His love to you. You have quoted rightly, “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” There, in that crimson fountain, is the demonstration of love, and the Holy Spirit sheds it abroad in our hearts. But beware lest you receive that grace and then turn from it with ingratitude, as Israel of old. The Lord may say to you, “I have loved you in thus restraining you and holding you back from sin.” If He sends trial, it is love; if He smiles, it is love; for to His people He is nothing else but Love, infinite, boundless, eternal, unchangeable. Oh, do not question it! Lean hard upon Him; He will never deceive you.

You ask for love to abound in all knowledge and discernment, to choose the highest. That is a prayer born from the Spirit. But remember, this love must be practical. The love which does not lead to holiness and steadfastness is a mere bubble on the wave. If you truly perceive His love, you will love Him in return, and prove it by a life that hates even the garment spotted by the flesh. Take vengeance on your Baalim, those sins that once held sway, and let their names be remembered no more. The climax of His love is that He will take them away, and you shall call Him “My Husband” and no more “My Master” in dread. So let your love be jealous for Him.

Your petition for wisdom to walk worthy and be filled with the knowledge of His will pleases me well. Yet I must sound a note of caution: many are temporary followers of Christ, outwardly walking as disciples, but inwardly lacking the deep root of genuine love. Do not rest upon profession or present feeling. He who would stand must cling to Christ alone. The God of Israel will not allow us to put any trust but in His dear Son. When you get away from that, you are in danger. Therefore, let your steadfastness be ever derived from the risen Christ. If your motives spring only from what you see, your spirit will oscillate from ardor to coldness. Anchor in the empty tomb; labour and be steadfast, for your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

I read your desire to hear the Shepherd’s voice and be led by the Spirit. This is the heritage of the children of God. But mark this: those who love God’s law shall have great peace, and nothing shall offend them. To be so led, you must love His Word and meditate upon it day and night. The peace that comes from loving that law is not a truce with the world, it is a deep acquiescence in the will of God, a sweet resignation. It is useless to quarrel with the Almighty. His will, whether in the great movements of providence or the small details of your life, is always good, acceptable, and perfect. Even when second causes and human evil intrude, the great first Cause overrules. From seeming evil He produces good, and better still, and better still in an endless chain.

Look well to your first love. When that was fresh, what would you not do for Christ? How much more than you do now? If there is any cooling, any slackening in secret devotion, any shrinking from sacrifice, the rod may come in fatherly chastisement, for the true-born child must smart for his decline. Do not let the world have reason to sneer. Tomorrow, that is, this very hour, return to the cross and seek again that flame of love which is a spark of the eternal flame of God’s love to you. Confess with shame how little you have loved Him who loved you so completely. Let that love constrain you, that the desire of your heart may be granted, for when a man’s ways please the Lord, his very will is brought into conformity with the divine.

Finally, you pray for deliverance from the evil one and from evil men. Be assured, the Lord that qualified you for the inheritance of the saints in light will guard you. He will not lead you into temptation but will render the service of angels if need be. Only see that you do not run towards evil. Avoid its very appearance. Stand perfect and assured in all the will of God, joyously giving thanks, for He has done all things well. Go now, and let your love be supremely fixed upon Him, for He that laid down His life for you shall surely with Him freely give you all things. In this love, pursue, abound, and be satisfied.

You ask to pursue love, and this is a noble request, for there is no measure of so noble a thing. We are to owe no man anything save to love one another, and the debt of love should always be owing. Yet listen carefully to how the Apostle prays for your love to abound. He does not extol a love that is mere friendship or sentiment, for such a love, born without reason, is weak. He prays that your love abound "in knowledge and all discernment." What does this mean? It means you must not apply the same love to all. This would come not from love but from a want of feeling. There are those who love in a simple and undiscerning way, and this is how friendships become a hurt. There is danger lest any be spoiled by the love of heretics, receiving spurious doctrine under the pretense of love. True love is to be disposed towards all as towards brethren, loving those of the same faith as true brothers, and pitying the heretic and the unbeliever, wearing yourself out and weeping for them. But this love comes with judgment, with reason, with discrimination, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, the things that are profitable. You must be sincere before God and without offense before men, causing no one to stumble, even to the day of Christ.

You fill your prayer with many scriptures, asking to be filled with knowledge. Consider then this warning: knowledge, without love, puffs up. It lifts men up to absolute arrogance and causes divisions. Love alone edifies. Do not think that by amassing knowledge you are safe. The path is not to gain knowledge in order to be loving, but to cling to love in order to gain true knowledge. He who loves, even with some defects, will quickly be blessed with knowledge because of his love. But see that your very pursuit of knowledge does not become a snare, for arrogance is wont to spring from it and debar you from the very thing you seek. This is the hidden danger in such long and intricate prayers, that a man might begin to think himself worthy of something for his many words. But the one who advances in virtue knows himself best when he accounts himself to be nothing. The sharper our sight, the more we see how distant we are from the sky. The more we advance, the more we are instructed in the vast difference between God and us. The true wisdom is to perceive our own desert, which is to say we have no desert at all.

You ask for practical wisdom, to be led in paths of righteousness, to hear the voice of the Shepherd. And you ask rightly. But do not think this leading will always be into what seems good. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts, a profusion of His blessing given not gradually but in full, and given before our struggles. This is the warmth of His love, that He honored us with the Holy Spirit before our labors. And so if you are not exceedingly worthy, do not despond. Your hope is not made ashamed by your well-doings but by His love. Yet remember that a man who has suffered shipwreck at the very mouth of the harbor, after enduring countless storms, will shrink from the sea. Let this not be you. Having prayed so fervently, do not be surprised if the path of righteousness leads through trials to test your professions of love. For if we love Him, we rejoice at His coming, whether that coming is to the whole world or a particular coming to the soul through discipline. The one who loves His appearing will perform works worthy of that joy, to be found in a fitting state.

Therefore, confirm love towards each other. This is the pathway that leads of itself towards virtue. Only lay hold on the beginning, and at once you are guided and directed by it. Consider how you are disposed toward yourself. You wish all good things for yourself; you prefer yourself before all. If you were so disposed towards others, all grievous things would be brought to an end. Do we not make the most allowances for ourselves? If we did this for our neighbors, there would be no remembrance of injuries. Let this be your simplicity: to love for God's sake, to be sincere and without offense, not to work wonders but to show love even to enemies, for it is in this that we become like God. He does not want you to love so as to be harmed by a false friendship, but to walk worthily of the Lord, bearing fruit by increasing in the knowledge of God, all the while acknowledging that you are earth and ashes. Only so will you stand perfectly assured in all the will of God, kept from the evil one not by your own intricate knowledge, but by the mighty pleader of His love.
