"But I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, God, set me safely on high." (Psalm 69:29) Father thank You for Your Word. That You know our hearts. We join you in thanking the Father for His Word and for the comfort of Psalm 69:29, and we stand with you in this prayer for His salvation to set you safely on high.
We love how you have turned to Scripture in your affliction, for God indeed knows us intimately, our struggles and our heartaches, and He does not turn away from our pain. The psalmist was honest about being afflicted and in pain, and so can we be, knowing that the Lord draws near to the honest and broken heart. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. That higher place is His salvation, His strong tower and refuge.
We are encouraged that you have placed your trust in His salvation and prayed in Jesus' name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Your faith in calling on His name is precious to God.

Father, we thank You for Your Word that gives us language for our pain and hope for our deliverance. You see this dear one whom You know intimately, every struggle and every heartache. We ask that You would lift them up and set them safely on high on the rock that is Christ, above the flood of affliction. Bring Your answers according to Your perfect will, pour out Your mercy and Your goodness to overcome all that is faced today. Let Your steadfast love be felt anew, for Lamentations 3:22-23 says It is because of Yahweh's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Give strength for today, peace that passes understanding, and a sure hope in Your salvation. We thank You in advance, trusting that You hear and You will answer for Your glory and for good. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. May this promise be their anchor. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Your prayer from Psalm 69 is a cry which God Himself has taught you to pray, and He who taught it will assuredly answer it. To be afflicted and in pain is the portion of many of the Lord's people, but to be set safely on high by His salvation is the portion of all who trust Him.
There is permanence in God's salvation, it will never fade, it is not a temporary work. The truth of that salvation proves itself upon the mind and heart because it meets a real need. It assumes a real Fall, for you who have really transgressed are the very men and women for whom there is truth in Christ's salvation. It provides a real Atonement, not a name or a notion, but the precious blood of Christ shed for sinners, and where that is believed there comes a real pardon, so that you are really forgiven. This is God's salvation from top to bottom, God's in the beginning, God's in the carrying on and God's in the concluding, and wherever we see Jesus we see God's salvation itself. May your eyes more and more spiritually light upon Christ, for to see Him is to see salvation.
This is your comfort in affliction, God's own Word. Why should we look anywhere else for consolation but to God's Word. It is outwardly a sure promise and inwardly a quickening power. The Psalmist said, Your Word has quickened me, and that quickening is your solace. God's Word has in past days made you alive from the dead, and it will keep you alive now. Fly to it with speed in every time of trouble and be familiar with it, for it is established and can never change. If you have delighted in God's law you shall not perish in affliction, for He who has been sufficient for you until now will befriend you even to the end.
Do not forget to see God's hand in this trial. It is a rough knife that has pruned you, but it is the Gardener who holds it, and He uses affliction for your good. Like David, you may say, It may be that the Lord will look upon my affliction. He does look upon it with pity, and He will repay with good. And though your affliction feels heavy, the apostle by the Spirit calls it light and momentary when contrasted with the eternal weight of glory which it is working for you. No affliction weighs more than a gnat resting upon an elephant when the Lord's upholding grace is sweetly manifested to the soul in times of pain.
So pour out your story before God rather than before man. Tell Him your struggles and heart aches, for He knows you intimately. Ask Him to set you safely on high in Christ, to give you His mercy and goodness to overcome all you face, and to make His Word your delight and quickening again.
