Psalm 16:8 (08-20-10)

I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
— Psalm 16:8 (NIV)
Thoughts on Today's Verse...There are many things that can trouble our lives, but none that can shake us loose from the grip of God's grace if our hearts remain pointed at Jesus as our Lord and our hope remains focused on the Lord's return. If Jesus is our Lord, then all of life's greatest blessings lie ahead of us and he will let nothing rob us of this coming glory!

My Prayer...Holy Lord, you are worthy of majesty, honor, and praise. I lift up your name, O God, and place it above every name. As I look to the future, I want to honor you and I want to journey with you there. Since I believe you will never leave or forsake me, I will always look ahead to find you leading the way. Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

I really like this post. Tonight the Bishop at our church preached of sort of the same thing. It was really directed toward guarding your heart against evil. He preached of a story in the book of Kings how the two women, both prostitutes, had babies at the same time. One killed hers by smothering it and stole the other's baby for her own. They went to the king and he said that he would cut it in half and give it to both of them. The stolen baby's mother said not to do that to her child, please spare his life even if that means me not having him. Once the king saw her appreciation for the child's life and sacrifice of her ego, he saw she was the real keeper and mother of the baby and gave it to her after the thieving mother said, "Fine, if I can't have it, neither can she, so go ahead and kill it."

The Bishop showed us how we should treat our spiritual minds as the same and protect it as something precious. The Jews, especially, saw boy babies as a revelation out of despair of the future because it meant the boy could take care of them throughout their lives and long live a family's business or flocks. We should see the revelation of something precious and not allow the devil to steal it with obstacles put in our way or with influences we allow ourselves to be involved in. The Bishop even preached in a point of view as many people are trying to birth a revelation of the Spirit into their lives; it is trying to breathe within us and come out of us to change our lives, but some of us have gotten so close to letting it out and stopping ourselves from letting God have His way with our lives. He preached how we so easily let ourselves lose that spiritual revelation or so easily back off from it and if we would just let it out and put the rest in God's hands, miracles could happen for us, blessings would pour on us and our brothers and sisters. I quickly related to it because I know that's happened to me. It taught me to open up and let the Lord have His way and protect my heart and spirit from evil.

Really showed me the meaning of loving the Lord with all my heart, mind, and soul and to honor and praise Him for the precious gift of His Holy Spirit and salvation and that once God sees we appreciate Him truly and understand our purpose is for Him and truly cherish the gift He's given us, He can bless us more. :)
