Disciple of Prayer
Shalom! I am very unhappy with my circumstances. I live in a run-down neighborhood, my children were taken away from me, I have a lot of debt and can barely make ends meet, and I don't know how to get out of this. But God is my Father, isn't he? I don't understand, and it's eating me up inside. Thank you for your prayer for me in Jesus' name!

We hear the deep pain and despair in your words, and our hearts ache with you in this season of overwhelming struggle. You are not forgotten, nor are you abandoned, God is your Father, and He sees every tear, every burden, and every unanswered question. The weight of losing your children, financial strain, and the oppression of your circumstances would break anyone, but we stand with you in faith, declaring that God’s love is not distant or indifferent. He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He collects every one of your sorrows as if they were His own (Psalm 56:8).

First, we must rebuke the lies of hopelessness that may be whispering to you. The enemy would love for you to believe that your situation is permanent, that God has turned His face away, or that you are somehow beyond His reach. But Scripture declares, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18 WEB). Your pain is not a sign of God’s absence, it is the very place where His presence is most needed and often most powerfully revealed. We also rebuke any spirit of shame or self-condemnation that may be telling you this is your fault. While we must always examine our hearts before God, we also know that hardship is not always a result of personal sin. Job suffered greatly yet was called blameless (Job 1:1), and Jesus Himself said that trials come to refine us, not to punish us (John 16:33).

Your question, "God is my Father, isn’t He?", is one that resonates deeply with us. Yes, He is your Father, but His fatherhood does not guarantee an absence of suffering. Instead, it promises His presence in the suffering. Jesus Himself cried out on the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46 WEB), yet even in that moment of abandonment, He was fulfilling the Father’s will for our salvation. Your pain is not meaningless. It may feel like a wilderness now, but God can use even this to draw you closer to Him, to refine your faith, and to prepare you for the restoration He has promised.

We must also address the loss of your children with great tenderness. This is a grief no parent should have to bear, and we do not minimize it with empty platitudes. But we declare over you the promise of Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (WEB). This does not mean your children will automatically be returned to you, but it does mean God has a plan for their lives, and for yours, that is rooted in hope. We pray for wisdom for you in whatever steps you need to take to pursue their well-being, whether through legal means, counseling, or simply persistent prayer. Do not lose heart; God is a Father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5), and He will not abandon them, or you.

Regarding your financial struggles, we rebuke the spirit of lack in Jesus’ name. The Lord is your provider (Genesis 22:14), and He knows your needs before you even ask (Matthew 6:8). We encourage you to seek godly counsel in managing your debt, to look for opportunities to increase your income through honest work, and to trust God to open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Remember, the widow in 1 Kings 17 had only a handful of flour and a little oil, yet God multiplied it until the famine ended. He can do the same for you. But we also caution against the love of money or the pursuit of wealth as an idol (1 Timothy 6:10). Your hope must remain in God, not in financial relief alone.

Now, we lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, who is carrying a burden too heavy for human hands. Lord, You see every detail of their life, the lost children, the financial strain, the loneliness, and the questions that keep them awake at night. We ask You to wrap Your arms around them in this moment. Remind them that You are their Father, not just in name, but in action. Give them the strength to take one step at a time, the wisdom to make decisions that honor You, and the faith to believe that You are working even when they cannot see it.

Father, we pray for the restoration of their family. Where there has been brokenness, bring healing. Where there has been separation, bring reconciliation. Give them the courage to fight for their children in ways that align with Your will, and soften the hearts of those who have authority over their case. Let Your justice prevail, and let Your mercy be evident.

Lord, we ask for provision in their finances. Open doors for employment, favor with creditors, and creative solutions to their debt. Teach them to trust You as their provider, and help them to be good stewards of what You give. Break the chains of financial bondage, and replace their anxiety with Your peace.

Most of all, Father, we pray for their heart. Where bitterness has taken root, uproot it. Where despair has settled in, replace it with hope. Remind them that You are not a distant God, but a loving Father who collects their tears and hears their cries. Strengthen their faith, and let them experience Your presence in tangible ways. We declare that this season of suffering will not be wasted, use it to draw them closer to You and to prepare them for the blessings You have in store.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who bore our sorrows and carried our griefs (Isaiah 53:4). Amen.

In the days ahead, cling to the truth that God is not done with your story. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Lazarus from the dead, and turned Saul the persecutor into Paul the apostle is at work in your life. You may not see the full picture now, but He is weaving every thread of your pain into a tapestry of redemption. Keep seeking Him, keep praying, and keep trusting. And remember, you do not walk this road alone, we are here to pray with you, to encourage you, and to remind you of God’s unfailing love.

We hear the ache in your words, and we’re so sorry you’re carrying such a heavy load. Losing your children, drowning in debt, stuck in a run-down neighborhood, it’s no wonder you feel hollow and wonder, “If God is my Father, why is this happening?” That cry isn’t faithlessness; it’s the honest sound of a heart still reaching for Him when nothing makes sense. Many who walked closest with God in Scripture wrestled with that same confusion.

Sometimes pain makes the truths we’ve always leaned on feel thin. But God’s fatherhood doesn’t mean our lives will be easy, it means He won’t abandon us in the mess. He sits with you in the empty rooms, in the shame and the sleepless nights, even when you can’t feel Him. You are not alone.

One thing that might help lighten the load: connecting with a local church or a community assistance program. A wise, compassionate person who can sit with you and help sort through your finances or point you toward practical resources for your neighborhood could make a real difference. You weren’t meant to shoulder this by yourself.

Lord, we bring our hurting friend before You right now. You see every unpaid bill, every ache for their children, every unsafe street and worry-filled hour. Please send someone to walk alongside them, practical help, steady encouragement, and a tangible sense that You have not forgotten them. Meet their daily needs in ways that surprise them. Watch over their children, guide the people making decisions about their care, and bring about what is truly best for that family. Give this weary heart a glimmer of peace and the quiet confidence that they are still held. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You are in the depths, and your soul is cast down within you. Yet I charge you, do not let despair take hold, for despair is a high insult to God. No mortal has a right to despair, for God is the sinner’s hope and He is not lost. You cry that you are unhappy, that everything has gone against you, your children taken, your purse empty, your home a desolation. But hark, is not this the very time to trust? Is it not written, "I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me"? He thinks upon you now, in this dark hour. Despair whispers that God has forsaken you, but that is to believe the father of lies rather than the Christ who died that men might live. I bid you banish the thought; it degrades you below the brute beast, for even an insect struggles when cut in half. You are a child of the living God, if you have fled to Jesus, and a child can never be anything but the son of his own father, a relationship no sin can break, no poverty can sever, no loss can undo.

You ask, "Is God my Father?" Yes, truly, if you have come by the cross. There is no universal fatherhood to the unrepentant; our Lord Himself said to the proud, "Ye are of your father the devil." But if you have looked to Christ, then blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath begotten you again unto a lively hope. He is the Father of the fatherless; in Him the orphan finds mercy. Though your earthly house is run-down, your heavenly mansion is prepared. Though your children are taken for a season, the Good Shepherd can keep them, and He will yet gather them in His arms. Your debt? He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and His riches in glory shall supply all your need. But oh, learn this sweet lesson: to say with our Lord, "Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight." There is heaven in that word, Abba, Father. It meets every necessity, every wish. The righteous Father sees you in Christ, and in Him He delights in you. Doubt no more; you are accepted in the Beloved. Therefore pluck up heart. The same hand that brought you out of darkness will translate you into light. You shall yet find Him a better Father than the best of fathers could ever be to the best beloved of sons. He will not leave you; He cannot fail you. Even now, lift your head and bless His name. The Lord shall be your confidence, and you shall yet praise Him who is the health of your countenance and your God.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You cry out that God is your Father, yet your circumstances have become a snare to your soul, tempting you to doubt His love. This is precisely where the wicked one aims his dart. Do you not see that the devil never despairs of our destruction, yet you, a child of the promise, are ready to despair of your own salvation? That is a greater tragedy than any debt or empty house. For the one who has sinned but rises quickly repairs all by repentance, but the one who sinks into despondency cuts off the very remedy.

Consider Joseph, cast into prison though innocent. Did he wallow in his sorrow? No, he noticed the downcast faces of Pharaoh’s servants and asked, “Why are you so sad today?” Even in chains, he did not overlook the burdens of others. That is the fruit of a living faith. You feel abandoned, but faith is most alive when all seems contrary. Daniel in the lions’ den, the three youths in the furnace, the patriarchs in their wanderings, none of them gave in to despair. They held fast, believing that nothing adverse truly is adverse for those who love God.

You misunderstand your poverty. God is able, out of these very stones, to raise up children for Abraham. He who hewed you from a rock and dug you from a pit can rebuild your house in a moment. The axe is laid to the root, yes, but it does not cut until you refuse to turn. That very nearness is a mercy, meant to rouse you from supine slumber, not to crush you. If you change and become better, the axe departs without a blow. But if you persist in this gloom, allowing the tempter to magnify your debts and losses above His promises, you surrender the battlefield.

Do not fix your eyes on the debt, the squalid streets, the empty rooms. Look rather to the hard rock from which you were hewn. God delays, perhaps, to teach you to hunger for true riches. Show mercy in your small way, even now, and you will obtain mercy far greater. What is man’s pity next to God’s? As wide as wickedness is from goodness, so far does His compassion exceed our own. Go, therefore, and act as a brother to someone else in distress. In serving, you will find the clouds lift. And above all, never say, “I cannot hope.” That word is a greater offense than any sin, because it makes the cross void and locks the door of the physician. Repent, and trust. He who raised the dead is not at a loss to raise you.

The pain you are carrying right now is real, and I will not pretend it is small. When your children are gone, when the neighborhood around you crumbles, and debt presses in so hard you can barely breathe, it feels like everything has been stripped away. That kind of devastation can eat at your soul and whisper that God has abandoned you. But hear this clearly: God’s love for you has not failed. It does not flicker on and off based on your circumstances. His mercy is not exhausted, and He has not stopped being your Father.

If you have put your trust in Jesus Christ, then the Spirit himself bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of God. Not a distant servant, but a born one, a son or daughter with the full rights of inheritance. That means you belong to Him even when nothing around you looks like it. Your suffering does not cancel your adoption. In fact, the Scriptures teach that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us. Right now you see loss and lack, but a day is coming when death, sorrow, and pain will be passed away forever. What you endure now is temporary; what He has promised you is eternal.

I know that in the middle of the storm, hope feels far off. Depression often begins when we lose sight of a way out. But the Lord is your portion. When the children of Israel stood trapped between the sea and the approaching army, they cried out in terror, and God saw them. He sees you right now, trapped in what looks like an impossible situation. Cry out to Him. He does not despise the broken prayers of His people.

Your debts and difficulties may be the bitter fruit of living in a fallen world, or they may be the harvest of choices you or others have made. Either way, God’s mercy is bigger. He can break the chains that human sin has forged. In Bible days, a person sold into slavery over a debt could be redeemed by a relative who stepped in to pay the price. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer. He paid the debt we could never pay, and His resurrection secures every promise of restoration. He can bring deliverance into your story, whether by changing your circumstances or by changing you in them.

Do not despise the earthen vessel you are in. God has placed His glorious treasure in fragile clay pots so that it is clear the surpassing power belongs to Him and not to us. Your weakness is not evidence that He has left you; it is the very place He shows His strength. Hold fast to His Word, even when your feelings scream the opposite. He is faithful, and He will do what He has said.

Take this to Him plainly: “Lord, I have nothing left but You. You are my Father. Be my portion.” He will not ignore you. The same God who turned Israel’s bitter slavery into a feast of remembrance will not waste your sorrow. He is at work, even now, to conform you to the image of Christ, removing the veils that blind us to His goodness. You are His, and nothing can snatch you out of His hand. May the Spirit give you strength to rest in that hope today. I am praying for you in Jesus’ name.
