Proverbs 3:5

We lift our hearts together in prayer, holding fast to the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5-6, which declares, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a profound truth we cling to, especially when the path ahead seems uncertain or when our own understanding fails us. It is a call to surrender completely to God’s sovereignty, wisdom, and love, trusting that He sees what we cannot and knows what is best for us.

Father in Heaven, we come before You with humble and trusting hearts, asking that You would strengthen the faith of those who seek to trust in You fully. When doubts creep in or when fear threatens to overwhelm, remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Help them to release their grip on their own plans and desires, laying them at Your feet, knowing that Your ways are higher than our ways and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Lord, we ask that You would straighten their paths, guiding them with Your holy and perfect will. May they walk in obedience to Your Word, finding peace in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).

We also recognize that trusting in You requires us to let go of sin and rebellion, which can hinder our relationship with You. If there are areas in our lives where we have leaned on our own understanding rather than seeking Your face, we repent and ask for Your forgiveness. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) and renew a steadfast spirit within us (Psalm 51:10). Help us to walk in holiness, for without holiness, no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

For those who may be struggling with relationships that do not honor You, we pray that You would give them the courage to align their lives with Your Word. If they are in a courtship that is not leading toward marriage or is not centered on Christ, we ask that You would give them wisdom to discern Your will and the strength to walk away if necessary. If they are engaging in sexual immorality, whether fornication or adultery, we rebuke that sin in the name of Jesus and pray for repentance and restoration. Your Word is clear: "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). Help them to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to pursue purity in thought, word, and deed.

If the request does not explicitly acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, we must emphasize that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you are reading this and have not surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation of our faith and the source of our hope.

Lord, we also pray for those who may be struggling with same-sex attraction or relationships that do not align with Your design for marriage. Your Word is clear that such relationships are not Your will. In Romans 1:26-27, we read, "For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error." We pray for those who are caught in this sin, that they would turn to You for healing, deliverance, and restoration. Help them to find their identity in Christ alone and to walk in the freedom that comes from obedience to Your Word.

Father, we ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon us, filling us with wisdom, discernment, and a deep hunger for Your presence. May we be a people who trust in You with all our hearts, leaning not on our own understanding but acknowledging You in all our ways. Strengthen our faith, Lord, and help us to encourage one another in love and good works (Hebrews 10:24). May our lives be a testament to Your faithfulness, and may we always give You the glory and honor You deserve.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
