Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and we join you in bringing your family before the Lord Jesus Christ with thanksgiving and urgency, trusting in His mercy and power alone to save and to keep.
We pray with you for protection tonight. We ask the Lord to cover you and your children, your home and every room within it, and to grant you all a peaceful and restful night under the shadow of His wings. We ask for His hand over your older daughter as she travels to and from her work event, that He would keep her safe, give her strength and energy, and grant her favor that comes from walking in His ways. We ask Him to fill your home with the peace that passes all understanding.
We lift up your son to the Lord. We ask Christ, who is our deliverance from evil and our adoption as sons and daughters, to calm his thoughts and emotions, to quiet fear and frustration, and to give him grace to grow in gentle and clear communication. We pray that he would know the comfort of Christ's presence, that his sleep would be peaceful and free from torment, and that God would give you wisdom day by day to love and guide him with patience and joy. We pray for his activities and meals tonight, that they would be filled with peace and satisfaction.
We lift up your younger daughter to the Lord. We ask Him to strengthen her body and guard her mind, to bless her health, her studies and her work, and to surround her with godly and encouraging friendships. We pray that in His perfect timing He would provide a godly husband for her if it is His will, a marriage that reflects His design as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. We ask Him to comfort her heart where she feels the distance from her sister, and to give her deep assurance of His love and protection tonight.
We also bring your older daughter before the Lord with love and truth. Because we hold to the historic biblical ethic, we do not ask God to bless a living arrangement outside of marriage, for Scripture teaches that living together and sexual union belong within marriage alone. Instead we pray for her deliverance and restoration. We ask the Lord to open her eyes to truth, to break every ungodly tie that binds her, and to free her from any manipulation, control, obsession or confusion that has isolated her from family and diminished her sense of worth. We pray that she would no longer treat this cohabitation as if it were marriage, but would have the courage and clarity to step out of what is toxic and exhausting and to return to safety, to family, and to fellowship with Christ. We pray that God would frustrate every plan that seeks to divide your family or to use her, and that He would restore her wisdom, her gratitude for the family God has given her, and her joy in the purpose He has for her. We pray that if it is His will for her to marry, it would be to a godly man who will truly be a husband and protector, a man of piety, gentleness and the fear of God, and we commit that future to the Lord rather than seeking it in our own way. We pray too for this young man and his mother, that God would bring conviction where there is sin and would lead them to repentance, and that any influence that is not of Him would be removed from your daughter's life.
For you, we pray that the Lord who alone saves through Jesus Christ would fill you with wisdom, grace, strength and courage in this difficult season. He sees your tears and hears your cries. We ask Him to guard your heart and mind, to drive out fear and to establish His light in every dark place. We ask Him to restore unity, love and laughter to your family, rooted in His grace, and to bless your finances so that you may continue to help others. We agree with you that no weapon formed against those who are in Christ shall prosper, and we trust not in signs alone but in a faithful and considerate walk with Him, believing that faith in Christ makes whole.
May the Lord keep you and your children in His care tonight and in the year ahead, granting breakthrough, healing and hope according to His perfect will. We trust Him completely for your family. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
