Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer reflects both deep gratitude and deep burden, and the Lord sees the tears you have shed and hears every cry you have lifted for your children and your home. He is not distant from this season, and He invites you to bring every fear, every frustration, and every hope to Him with confidence in the power of the blood of Jesus Christ.
Scripture teaches that God puts a hedge of protection around His people and gives His angels charge over them. In Christ you can ask Him to cover your home, your hearts and your minds, every door and window and room, and to guard your sleep with the peace that passes all understanding. That covering is not a formula but the mercy of a faithful Father who keeps those who trust in Him. You can rest tonight under the shadow of His wings, asking Him to fill your home with His presence and to let your rest be deep and undisturbed.
For your son, it is right to ask the Lord for calm over his thoughts and emotions and for grace to use functional language to express his needs and feelings. Ask God to quiet anxiety and confusion and to clothe him with the mind of Christ, which is gentle and gracious and steady. While you continue to love him and seek wise help for his needs, you can trust that the Lord delights to give comfort, joy and peace even in the midst of ongoing struggles, and to guard his heart from torment and fear.
For your younger daughter, it is good to pray for strength in body and mind, for favor in her studies and work, and for uplifting and godly friendships. It is also right to pray that in the Lord's perfect timing He would provide a godly spouse if that is His will, one who will honor Him within the covenant of marriage as He designed it, a lifelong union of one man and one woman where love, purity and commitment dwell. Ask Him to comfort her in the hurt she feels as she watches her older sister change, and to keep her confident in His love and protection.
For your older daughter, your concern is understandable and your desire for her freedom is loving. Scripture is clear that living together outside of marriage is not the path God blesses, even when it is treated as if it were marriage. It does not bring the security and honor of covenant, and it often brings exhaustion, isolation and a loss of self worth, as you have described. Love does not ask God to bless what He calls away from, but asks Him to open eyes to truth, to break ungodly ties, and to give courage to walk away from bondage and return to safety, righteousness and home.
The Bible shows that God knows how to deliver the righteous even when they feel vexed and worn down by the ungodly influences around them. Just as He delivered Lot from a corrupt environment, He is able to deliver your daughter from manipulation, control and confusion. At the same time Scripture warns that we cannot walk away from the Lord and His ways and still expect to remain under the full shelter of His protection. We are called to keep ourselves in the love of God, to stay close to Him in obedience and trust. Part of that is recognizing how powerful ungodly influence can be, especially when it comes through close relationships and even through parents who should give wise counsel. Such influence can draw a heart away from family, from wisdom and from the purpose God has given.
That is why you can do as Jacob did when he was in great distress. He reminded the Lord of what the Lord had already promised, that if he would return to his family and his land, God would be with him and deal well with him. You can plead your cause before God in the same way. He is the God of your strength when you feel weak, and He hears when you ask Him to plead your cause against deceit and injustice, to frustrate every plan that seeks to divide and isolate your family, and to expose what is deceitful and controlling. He can frustrate schemes that use money, conditions and obligation to keep your daughter bound, and He can restore wisdom, gratitude and a sense of worth rooted in who she is in Christ.
Continue to ask the Lord for wisdom, grace, strength and courage to navigate this season without bitterness. Keep your home rooted in love, truth and prayer. Set godly boundaries with calm firmness, do not enable financial exploitation, and keep the door open for reconciliation in a trusting and godly manner. Seek wise and biblically grounded counsel close to you who can walk with you consistently.
May the Lord guard your home tonight and in the days ahead. May He calm your son and give him rest, strengthen your younger daughter and guard her heart, and draw your older daughter back to truth, to family and to Himself. May He restore unity, laughter and peace to your family, provide for your needs so you can be a blessing to others, and prove again that no weapon formed against those who trust in Him will finally prosper. You can trust Him completely, for He is faithful to keep, to deliver and to restore those who look to Him. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
