Your prayer before the throne of grace is heard, and the heaviness you feel for your family is understood. The Lord invites His children to come boldly to Him as Father, not in a distant legal formality but in a close and loving relationship as those adopted into His family through Jesus Christ. That relationship with God is primary. When our walk with Him is wholehearted, He brings order and healing to our relationships with one another. He does not desire a half hearted or lukewarm devotion, but a full and sincere love for Him, and from that love all other loves are made right.

You have rightly stood on the victory of Jesus, that He has already overcome every power of darkness and that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Scripture teaches that no weapon formed against God's people will ultimately prosper, and that the Lord Himself fights for us. You can rest in that protection while you continue to pray. The peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind as you trust Him.

In love I want to affirm what you have discerned from Scripture. Living together outside of marriage is not marriage in God's eyes. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual union and shared home life belong within that covenant. Outside of that covenant, such a living arrangement does not honor the Lord and it opens the door to spiritual bondage, deception, exhaustion and division. For that reason I cannot ask God to bless that relationship as it is, but I do join you in asking Him to bring clarity, conviction and freedom to your older daughter.

I pray that the Lord will remove the stubborn hold that has taken root in her heart and replace it with a hunger for righteousness and for His Word. Just as a lost love is restored not by mere words but by returning to first loves and doing the first works again, pray that she would remember the love and values she was raised with, the love of her family and above all the love of her Father in heaven. Ask that pride, shame, pressure and any blindness to red flags would be lifted, that she would see the financial hardship, exhaustion, disrespect, isolation and division this relationship has brought, and that she would recognize she does not belong to this young man and is not responsible to carry him. She belongs to the Lord, and He alone defines her worth.

I join you in praying that every plan to isolate her from you, from her younger sister and brother, and from the fellowship of your home would be frustrated, and that the Lord would turn her heart back toward Him and toward those who love her unconditionally. Pray that the Lord would guide her out of this unhealthy and ungodly living situation and back to a place of safety, stability, wisdom and health. You mentioned her breathing struggles and the harm of smoking in the home. I pray for the Lord's protection over her body and for wisdom to step away from an environment that harms her.

For your younger daughter, I pray the Lord will keep her steadfast in faith and guard her heart from being swayed by an example that does not honor Him. May she not come to see cohabitation as acceptable, but may she desire a future spouse who honors the Lord and respects the sanctity of marriage, a man who will love as Christ loves the church. Pray that godly friendships and mentors would surround her and strengthen the sweet bond she has with her siblings.

For your son, know that he is a blessing and deeply loved by God and by you. I pray the Lord surrounds him with love, acceptance and protection, that he would never feel like a burden or an object of mockery, and that every hateful word, exclusion or spiritual attack against him would flee in Jesus name. May the Lord saturate him with peace and joy and strengthen his fellowship with you, his sisters, caregivers and extended family, replacing any demeaning influence with those who will uplift and cherish him.

For you, I pray for renewed strength, courage and peace while the Lord works in ways only He can. It is hard to live in the midst of division and hurtful words, and like families in Scripture who were touched by living in a polluted environment, the strain is real. Yet God is able to mend what has been torn, heal what has been wounded and restore what has been lost. He is the One who restores families and brings unity where there has been strife.

I also pray for provision for your home according to His riches, not for selfish gain but that you may continue to be a blessing, and for protection over your daughter's finances, credit, reputation and faith so that what has been built is not destroyed. I pray for the mother of this young man as well, that the Lord would lead her to take responsibility for her own son and to cease placing undue burdens on your daughter, and that all manipulation and control would be removed.

May your home be a sanctuary of God's presence where love, unity and peace reign. Continue to plead the blood of Jesus over your household, to stand on His finished work, and to look to your heavenly Father with confidence that He hears and will answer according to His perfect wisdom and mercy. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
