Your request for extra strong protection and breakthrough rests on a deep truth: the name of the Lord himself is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and are safe. That image is no poetic flourish, it’s the reality of war. A strong tower was the final bastion of defense when the enemy pressed in, and God offers himself as that unassailable refuge. When you feel surrounded, when the opposition seems like an army of a million with chariots, you do not need to measure the battle by your own strength. The Lord knows how to deliver the righteous out of impossible traps.
So be strong and very courageous, not because you have enough resources, but because he has promised to be with you and to do the work. Many times God calls us to things that far exceed our ability, and the temptation is to gaze at the odds and lose heart. Yet the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the whole earth, ready to show himself mighty on behalf of those whose hearts are wholly his. That is where breakthrough begins: a heart that refuses to trust in the arm of the flesh but clings to him alone. The enemy would love for you to rely on your own wisdom, your own backup plans, your own prosperity, because at the point of your greatest natural strength, that is where a fall can come without warning.
I think of how David was strong and established when he faced his deepest trouble, or how a king like Asa prayed desperately when a million-strong army invaded, and God gave stunning deliverance. Yet later, when that same king had grown wealthy and powerful, he trusted in political alliances and human strategy instead of the God who had saved him. Do not let that be your story. The protection you are asking for is not a one-time gift; it is a place where you abide. Jesus is our protection. He is the strong dwelling place into which we may continually enter. If you abide in Christ, if you remain in that hiding place, you do not have to fear the enemy’s assault, because he will be your defense.
There is a caution here too. The life of the flesh can look very enticing, promising safety and satisfaction on its own terms. But the flesh can never deliver what it promises. The people of Israel experienced glorious deliverance from Egypt, yet later they turned back in their hearts to the very bondage they had been freed from. Egypt in Scripture always pictures the flesh life. And it is a tragedy when those whom God has made strong then drift from him, thinking they can find better protection elsewhere. You will not find the security you seek by running back to that which once enslaved you. True breakthrough comes as you keep your hands from being weak, trusting that your work will be rewarded because you are planted in his strength, not your own.
The enemy may press hard. The east wind may blow. But remember that even the wind is the blast of his nostrils, under his command. Fear and dread fall upon the forces that oppose his people when God rises to act. So let your prayer be like the ancient songs of deliverance, not just a list of fears, but a declaration of his power. You are not fighting alone. When one part of the army sees the battle is too strong, the other comes to help, and together, with good courage, they stand for the cities of our God and let the Lord do what seems good to him.
