The affairs of every day are a fight, they are a tempest and a storm. We therefore need arms, and prayer is a great weapon. If we have first made God propitious by prayer and supplication, going forth thus we shall have no enemy. For every single day the rocks are many, and oftentimes the boat strikes and is sunk. Therefore have we especially need of prayer early and by night, that we may go through the length of the day without shipwrecks and without wounds.

Yet do not make the mistake of trusting only in the prayers of others while you yourself sleep. It is a good thing to enjoy the prayer of the Saints, but it is when we ourselves also are on the alert. Yea, though you become as Paul, you have need of prayer. Do not exalt yourself, lest you be humbled. Ask for protection with strong crying and tears from your own heart, and do not place yourself in a situation to need it. If you wake and watch, you will not need the help of others to stand; but if you sleep, the help of others will profit you nothing. Be urgent in your own entreaty, for we are always in need of prayer if we think rightly.

When you ask for extra strong protection and breakthrough, you are echoing a timeless cry of God’s people. The Scriptures show us that true safety is never found in the absence of trouble but in the covering that God Himself provides. Think of the blood of the lamb in Egypt. It was no mere symbol; it was the seal of protection, the one thing that stood between death and the household. That blood was applied by faith, and there was no other way, no other hope. For us, the ultimate Passover Lamb has been slain, and His blood is our strong shelter. When you pray for protection, you are asking to be kept under that covering, known and marked by the Father.

The strong hand that brings breakthrough often moves in ways we do not expect. When Moses faced Pharaoh, the king’s heart was made strong in opposition, meaning God stiffened the resolve that already stood against His purposes. Yet the very obstinacy that looked like an immovable wall became the stage for deliverance. God declared, “With a strong hand he will let you go, and with a strong hand he will drive you out.” The power that hardens is also the power that shatters chains. What seems like a delay is not weakness. The Lord knows how to turn the heart of every obstacle until the breakthrough comes, not with a whimper, but with divine force.

Do not be surprised if the process involves strong winds and dry ground. When Israel stood trapped between the sea and the army, God sent a mighty east wind all through the night and turned the deep into a path. The miracle was not in a shallow bog but in the same waters that later swallowed the enemy whole. That wind felt chaotic and relentless, yet it was the breath of God opening a way. Your need for breakthrough may require such a night, a season where you feel battered, where it seems nothing is happening, until suddenly there is a road where none existed. Trust that the same wind that parts the sea is under His command.

Remember too that strong protection often builds a stronger faith. The people were led into the wilderness precisely because their trust was not yet firm enough to face the battles ahead. Had they entered the land too soon, fear would have driven them back. The dry places are not abandonment; they are the training ground where God makes your heart steadfast. He does not leave you untested, but He supplies manna and water from the rock. The early foundation of His promises, stored deep within you, will hold you when the pressures of the world press in. What was planted in formative seasons, the sense of destiny in Him, becomes a root that cannot be pulled up.

So bring your need before the Lord, not just for yourself but for all who cry out. Ask that the blood of Christ would cover every household of faith. Plead the strong hand of the Redeemer who broke Egypt’s grip and will break whatever binds you. And if the night wind howls, do not fear, it is the signal that He is making dry land. Your protection is not fragile, and your breakthrough is not far, because the One who promised is the Almighty God, the same yesterday and forever. Rest in that.
