When you ask for extra strong protection and breakthrough, you are leaning into what God most wants to be for His people. He never promised a life without trouble, but He promised to be our refuge and strength in the middle of it, a very present help when trouble presses close. That means you don’t have to wait for danger to pass before you find safety. Safety is a Person. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
I think of the cities of refuge in Israel, placed so that no one was ever more than a half day’s run from shelter. If you fled there, you were safe as long as you stayed within its borders. Those cities point beautifully to Jesus Christ, the one in whom we have fled for refuge. In Him you are sheltered from the ultimate consequences of sin and death. And the protection you need today, for yourself and for all those you lift up, flows out of that same staying power. Remain in Him. Talk to Him about the fear that makes you cry out for extra strength. Because in Him you don’t need to be afraid, even if the ground shifts under your feet. Though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea, the one who trusts in Him will not be moved.
Breakthrough often tests our willingness to wait. We want deliverance right now, and it’s hard when God seems slow. But the Scriptures remind us that our expectation for deliverance and help is from Him only. He is our rock, our defense, our salvation. Men of low degree are emptiness; men of high degree are a lie. Only God can bear the full weight of your hope. So when the desire to take matters into your own hands rises up, remember that lasting strength often looks like staying put, refusing to run out of the city of refuge, refusing to act in panic. The same God who made a way through the sea for the ransom to pass over is the One who will make a way for you. His arm is not shortened. He is still the saving strength of His anointed.
What I want you to hear most is this: He gives strength to His people. He blesses His people with peace. So I pray that in this season you’ll find Him to be your strong refuge, your hiding place, your high tower. As you face whatever looms, may you taste that deliverance that only He can bring, the kind that doesn’t just change your circumstances but steadies your heart in the certainty of His love. And for all those in need whose names you carry silently, may the Lord of hosts be their refuge too, granting breakthrough in His perfect timing, until that day when every foe is overthrown and joy breaks out like the song on the far side of the Red Sea. Trust Him at all times. He will keep you.
