Chrysostom
Beloved of All
You have asked the Lord for full protection while driving and for wisdom in your finances so that you may bless others. This is a prayer that pleases God, because it seeks safety not for selfish ease but for service, and because it desires to do good with what He gives. Give thanks continually for every mercy on the road and every honest provision, for nothing is small that comes from His hand. Even a short errand completed without harm is a gift worth remembering before the Lord.
Yet remember also that the Lord Jesus told us we will have tribulation in this world, not so that we despair of earthly protection, but so that we set our hearts on the spiritual blessings that are greater. The protection of the body is a real mercy, but the protection of the soul from sin is far more important. When you drive, let meekness and patience guard you as much as any prayer for safety. Do not let anger or haste take the wheel, for a gentle spirit avoids many dangers before they arise. In the same way, when you receive money, do not clutch it or fear its loss, but consider it a blessing from God, the very gift by which you may bless others. The one who gives alms and does good deeds with his substance is walking in the fulness of the Gospel blessing.
So continue to ask the Father for these things in the name of Jesus Christ, and receive whatever He grants with thanksgiving. Keep your eyes not only on the errands of this day but on the eternal blessings to come, which God will give to all who love Him. May He keep you from every danger, make you a faithful steward, and fill you with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
