Protection, safe travels

We join you in praying for protection and safe travels today for you and for all who are on the road. We thank God with you for His constant care and kindness toward us, and we ask Him to keep you in His hand on this long drive.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy and for every good gift You give. We ask You to watch over these travelers today, to guard them from harm and to bring them safely to their destination. Grant wisdom and alertness behind the wheel, patience and peace along the way, and protection for all others traveling as well. Keep them from danger and guide their steps, and help them to rest in Your gracious care. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our hope and salvation. Amen.

Thank you for bringing your travel needs before the Lord. It is right and good to ask the Father for protection over the practical details of life, and He hears when His children pray in the name of Jesus.

Scripture reminds us that protection is part of God's character as Creator. When He formed the earth He surrounded it with coverings for our good, a canopy of moisture and atmosphere and a magnetic shield that turns aside harmful radiation. He also placed the earth in its orbit and gave it its tilt so that we have seasons, and He ordered the course of the sun through the heavens. All of this was designed and planned with care, and God saw that it was good. The world we live in bears witness that He is a God who provides and protects.

That same protecting heart is seen in His dealings with people. After sin entered the world, God in mercy set limits so that we would not live forever in fallen, broken bodies in a fallen world. And when judgment was coming, He provided an ark and invited Noah and his family inside to be safe while judgment was outside. The ark is a picture of the greater invitation He gives us now to come into Christ, the true place of safety where we are sheltered by His grace.

So we join you in prayer for this journey. We ask the Father to keep you and all who are traveling on the road, to give alertness and wisdom to every driver, to guard from harm and to bring you to your destination in peace. May you know His presence with you mile by mile, and may you be kept not only in body but also in heart and mind as you abide in Him. We thank Him for His constant care and for all He does for us, and we trust you into His faithful hands in Jesus name, Amen.
