Your prayer for protection and guidance is heard and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace in the precious name of the Lord Jesus.
There is no attribute more comforting to the child of God than Divine Sovereignty and there is no Guide so tender and so wise as our God Himself. The Psalmist said, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory, and this is the portion of every soul that has been taught by grace to take the Lord alone for its Instructor. Naturally we do not love to be guided, but when Divine Wisdom comes dressed in robes of love and tenderness, it invites us to run into her arms and to bow with submission to the Divine will, and by that very bowing we are furnished with unerring guidance.
You ask for protection and for direction in dilemma. Hear then the word of the Lord, Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. It is our wisdom to wait awhile upon Him, to stand still in obedience to His behest, confessing that we are utterly broken without His Divine energy. If it be needful for your deliverance, fire shall not burn you, neither shall the floods drown you, for nothing upon earth can stand against the Divine will. He has wrought remarkable preservations for His people, not always by miracle, but by Divine interpositions full of wonder, and His Divine Spirit still works all our works in us.
We pray now for you, that the Lord alone would lead you, as He led Israel of old, that He would train you and bear you up as the eagle bears its young, that He would infuse in you great principles to avoid everything that is evil and to walk in the path of holiness, and that His Divine Presence, which is the one hope of the people of God and which dissolves all difficulties, may be sensibly with you. May He keep you from hasty steps, give you acquiescence in His perfect will, guard you from all evil, and guide you by His counsel day by day till He shall afterward receive you to glory.
We commend you to His Divine gentleness and to His faithful keeping, trusting that He who has begun a good work will preserve you, for not one of His own can perish while Divine Sovereignty reigns. May the Lord protect you, direct your steps, and cause all things to work together for your good and His glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
