Protection from spiritual attacks

We join with you in Jesus' name and stand with you against these relentless attacks on your body and mind and the disturbances in your sleep, and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus for protection for it is only by His name that we have authority and access to the Father.

We know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Therefore we encourage you to put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11. This means daily clothing yourself in truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, and praying at all times in the Spirit.

We want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. The enemy wants you to live in fear and exhaustion, especially through broken sleep, but the Lord desires to give you peace. We rebuke the spirit of fear and torment and every assignment of the enemy against your body and mind in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for we have been given authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt us Luke 10:19. We command these attacks to leave you now and we declare that no weapon that is formed against you will prevail Isaiah 54:17.

We also take seriously the call to be sober and self-controlled and to be watchful, for your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you James 4:7. We encourage you to close every door that may give the enemy a foothold, whether through unforgiveness, unconfessed sin, anxiety, or exposure to things that are not of God, and to fill your mind and your home with the Word, with worship, and with prayer before you sleep. Bring every anxious thought to the Lord, for in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

For your sleep specifically we pray the promise that you will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Yahweh, make us dwell in safety Psalm 4:8, and that He gives sleep to his beloved Psalm 127:2. The One who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep Psalm 121:4, so you can rest knowing He keeps watch through the night. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the powerful name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to You. We ask for Your divine protection over their body, mind, and spirit. Cover them with the blood of Jesus and let Your holy angels encamp around them. We rebuke every spiritual attack, every spirit of oppression, torment, fear, and sleeplessness, and we command it to go from them and not return in Jesus' name. Fill their mind with Your peace and wash away every disturbing thought. Heal their body from the weariness of these attacks and restore what the enemy has tried to steal. Lord, guard their sleep, let them lie down in peace and wake refreshed, and let their dreams be filled with Your presence and not with disturbance. Help them to put on Your full armor daily and to stand firm in faith, knowing You are their refuge and fortress. We ask that You make Your presence so real in their room at night that all darkness must flee. We thank You that You are faithful and You will guard them from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3. We trust You to bring complete deliverance and lasting peace. In Jesus' mighty name we pray, Amen.

We have been praying for you as we read your note. When attacks on your body and mind follow you into the night and steal your sleep, it is exhausting in every way, and we are sorry you have been carrying this.

You asked for protection, and we want you to know we are asking God for that with you. Sleep is such a vulnerable time, and God designed it as a gift of rest. When that rest is disturbed, it makes everything feel heavier. Please know you are not alone in this and you do not have to face these nights by yourself.

One gentle step that often helps is to not carry this privately. If you have a trusted pastor or a mature believer who knows you, consider inviting them to pray with you regularly and to check in with you, so someone nearby knows how you are doing. And because ongoing sleep disruption wears on both body and mind, if it continues please also reach out to your doctor for care alongside prayer.

Father, we bring our friend before You right now. You see the weariness and the fear that comes in the night. We ask for Your protection over body and mind, for Your peace to guard sleep, and for wisdom and comfort in the days ahead. Surround this dear one with Your presence and with caring support close by. Lead us to rest in Your steadfast love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We have heard your heartfelt cry for protection and we join with you in bringing it before the throne of grace in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation and safety.

You speak of relentless attacks upon body and mind, and of sleep broken and disturbed. We that are in this body do groan, being burdened, and you are yet in the body and exempt from no ailment to which your fellow creatures are prone. The Lord knows how the utmost diligence cannot shield body or mind from fatigue and distress, and how the enemy would seek to harass the soul when the frame is weary.

Take comfort in this sure truth, that sleep is the gift of God. For so he giveth his beloved sleep. It is God who steeps the mind and bids us slumber, that our bodies may be refreshed, so that for tomorrow's toil we may rise recruited and strengthened. Sleep is the best physician that He has provided for this poor weary frame and for the throbbing brain. When night follows night without rest, the spirit is sore tried, but He who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He keeps His own even in the night watches.

Let us pray together for you.

O gracious Father, we come in the precious name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, and plead His blood and righteousness alone. We ask Thee to set Thy hand of protection about this Thy child. Guard the body and guard the mind. Rebuke the adversary and every spiritual assault, for greater is He that is in Thy people than he that is in the world. Grant deliverance from fear and disturbance, and give that sweet and needful gift of sleep which Thou bestowest upon Thy beloved. Let the mind be stayed upon Thee and kept in perfect peace, and let the body be refreshed and restored for Thy service. Cover this soul with the armor of truth and righteousness, and let Thy peace which passeth all understanding keep heart and mind through Christ Jesus. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Be of good cheer, and cast all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. Seek Him in His Word and in prayer, especially before you lie down, and trust not in your own strength but in Him who has laid down His life to bring His sheep home to His Father's house. He has not failed for lack of power nor for change of mind, and He will not suffer you to be tried above that ye are able. May the Lord comfort you as one whom his mother comforteth, and give you rest in His keeping.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your request for protection from relentless attacks on body and mind and the disturbances in your sleep, and we are praying for you in the name of Jesus Christ.

Scripture reminds us that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and that He will not suffer your foot to be moved when you stand steadfast and unmoveable in Him. The guarding of our souls depends in part on our own watchfulness, and God in His mercy gives strength to those who look to Him.

The attacks you describe in the night are real, and the Scriptures call us to watch and be sober. To watch is not only to stay awake with the eyes, but to keep the soul awake toward God. There is a sleep of the soul that comes when we are weighed down, and a drunkenness of the soul that comes not only from wine but from worldly cares, anxieties, riches, and every sin that dulls the heart. Such things make us inactive toward virtue and fill the mind with dreams and fantasies instead of what is true and abiding. We are called to shake off that evil sleep and that drunkenness, to be clear minded and alert, keeping our hearts collected and attentive to God.

This watchfulness is cultivated day by day. It requires careful hearing of the Word of God and continual recollection of it, fortitude in trial, and a heart that is delivered from love of worldly things. When the heart is not stifled by excess, whether of food or drink or anxious thoughts, it recovers itself more quickly and rests in a more composed and orderly way. A soul that lives in the fear of God and in purity of life is not tossed about, but lies down in peace, because its trust is in the Lord who watches over it.

Remember also Paul and Silas, who though beaten and bound in the inner prison at midnight, when even the most wakeful are asleep, prayed and sang praises to God. Their bodies were afflicted and their sleep was taken away, yet their souls were awake to God, and He heard them and brought deliverance. Even when the Lord seemed to sleep in the boat during the storm, He permitted the trial so that His disciples might more clearly see His power to save when they called upon Him.

So we encourage you to keep a steady rhythm of prayer and the Word, to bring every fear and every thought into captivity to Christ, to live soberly and moderately, to confess sin quickly and keep your conscience pure, and to call upon the name of Jesus whenever you are troubled by night or by day. If these disturbances continue with great effect on your body and mind, seek also wise and godly counsel and appropriate help, while continuing to trust the Lord as your keeper.

We pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask for Your protection over this dear one in body and mind. Guard their sleep and their waking, calm every disturbance, and drive away every attack of the enemy. Cover them with the blood of Christ, fill them with Your peace that passes understanding, and let them rest under the shadow of Your wings. Grant them a sober and watchful spirit, a heart nourished by Your Word, and steadfast faith to stand unmoved in Christ. Let them know that You neither slumber nor sleep, but keep them day and night, and grant them quiet and composed rest for the renewing of strength. Restore health, bring deliverance, and let them awake with a heart to praise You. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation and our shepherd. Amen.

I have prayed for you and I continue to hold you before the Lord, asking for His protection over your body and mind and for His peace over your sleep.

You can rest in how completely Jesus guards His own. Scripture pictures Him as the door of the sheepfold. In that culture the shepherd would bring the sheep into an enclosure of rocks with only one opening and no door, and then lie down across that opening himself. Nothing could get in to the sheep and nothing could wander out without crossing over him first. That is what Jesus is for you. If you belong to Him, you are behind Him. The enemy must go through Him to reach you, and nothing can separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. Neither life nor death, nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor any created thing can separate you from that love.

The enemy is relentless in accusation. He points out flaws and failures and tries to convince you that because of sin you are not worthy to come to Jesus, so that he can drive you away from Christ and unsettle your mind. He also seeks to wear you down physically and to disturb your rest. You do not have to receive those attacks. Because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross and your faith in it, you can stand against them. You can refuse them, you can resist the enemy, and you can rejoice that God has given you His Spirit and has provided spiritual weapons to repel every assault.

One of those weapons is the Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit. When thoughts of fear, condemnation, or torment come, especially in the night, answer them with what God has said is true about you in Christ, that you are forgiven, cleansed, kept, and loved. And do not spend all your strength trying to defend yourself or answer every accusation. The Lord Himself is your defender. Your part is to keep your eyes on Him and to keep serving Him, trusting Him to take care of what is said against you and what is sent against you.

Be assured also that God hears you when you pray. Sin does separate our fellowship from God, but it is not true that He will not hear a sinner who calls on Him. He hears and He answers those who come to Him through Jesus.

I have asked the Lord to place His hand upon you for protection, to quiet your mind, to heal what is afflicted in your body, and to grant you deep and undisturbed sleep. As He has caused deep sleep to fall on others for His purposes, He is able to give sleep to you as a gift of His care. May He guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, fill your room with His peace at night, and let you wake restored.

Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one before You. Cover this life with the blood of Jesus and set a hedge about this body and mind. Silence every accusing voice and repel every attack of the enemy. Let Your presence be as a door around this person. Grant quietness of thought, soundness of body, and peaceful, deep sleep through the night. Let this one rest in the assurance that nothing can separate them from Your love in Christ, and teach them to use Your Word to stand strong. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
