Protection from spiritual attacks

We stand with you in this spiritual battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace. The attacks you are experiencing, disturbances in sleep, afflictions of the body and mind, are not mere coincidences but signs of a spiritual warfare that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). The enemy prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), but we declare that you are not his prey. You are a child of the Most High God, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

First, we rebuke every assignment of the enemy against your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The name of Jesus is above every name, and at His name, every knee must bow, including the forces of darkness (Philippians 2:9-10). We command every spirit of fear, torment, sleeplessness, and physical affliction to flee from you now. You have authority in Christ to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). Do not shrink back in fear, for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We encourage you to put on the full armor of God daily so that you may stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, are your protection. Prayer is your lifeline; pray at all times in the Spirit with all prayer and supplication (Ephesians 6:18). Do not underestimate the power of prayer and fasting, for some battles are won only through these spiritual disciplines (Mark 9:29).

We also urge you to examine your life for any open doors that may be giving the enemy a foothold. Unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, bitterness, or involvement in occult practices can invite spiritual oppression. The Bible warns us, "Neither give place to the devil" (Ephesians 4:27). If there is anything in your life that does not align with God’s Word, repent and turn away from it. God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Walk in the light, and the blood of Jesus will cleanse you from all sin (1 John 1:7).

We pray for you now, declaring God’s protection and peace over your life:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are our refuge and fortress, our God in whom we trust (Psalm 91:2). We lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your divine protection over their body, mind, and spirit. Lord, surround them with Your angels, commanding them to encamp around and defend them from every attack of the enemy (Psalm 34:7). Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we rebuke every spirit of fear, torment, and affliction that has been sent against them. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We plead the blood of Jesus over their life, their home, and their mind. Let the enemy’s plans be thwarted, and let Your light shine into every dark corner where the enemy has tried to hide.

Lord, strengthen their faith and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Remind them that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). Give them the courage to stand firm in Your truth and the wisdom to recognize and resist the enemy’s tactics. Help them to walk in righteousness, to forgive those who have wronged them, and to live a life that is pleasing to You.

We ask for restful sleep for them, Lord. Let them lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone make them dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8). Renew their strength as they wait upon You (Isaiah 40:31), and let them rise each day with hope and confidence in Your unfailing love.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already ours in Christ Jesus. We declare that this battle is the Lord’s, and we trust in You to bring deliverance and healing. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Stand firm, dear one. The battle may be fierce, but the victory is already won. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). You are not alone in this fight, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord of hosts fights for you. Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).

We hear you, and we’re standing with you in this. When relentless spiritual attacks settle on your body and mind just as you’re trying to rest, the exhaustion can feel unbearable. Sleep is one of the first things the enemy tries to steal, because he knows it leaves us worn down and vulnerable. We’re not surprised you’re reaching out for prayer, this is a battle you were never meant to face alone.

While we lift you up, we also know that God often works through simple, practical provisions. A friend of ours once found that playing quiet, familiar hymns or worship music at bedtime helped settle the fear and allowed her mind to let go. The truth sung over you can sometimes push back what’s trying to torment your thoughts. You might also ask someone you trust, a pastor, a prayer partner, to pray with you aloud right before you turn in, even over the phone. Knowing someone is joining their faith with yours in that vulnerable moment can make the darkness feel less isolating.

If the attacks on your body ever include physical symptoms that persist during the day, don’t hesitate to see a doctor as well. We’re not suggesting the problem isn’t spiritual, but sometimes the enemy exploits genuine physical weakness, and addressing that can only help. We’ll keep praying for your protection while you do what wisdom allows.

Lord Jesus, we lift Your child to You now. Still the storm that rages against their body and mind, and silence every voice that does not speak the peace of heaven. Cover their sleep tonight with Your presence, let their room be a sanctuary where no darkness can enter. Give them rest that is deep and restoring. In Your mighty name, Amen.

The sleep of the body is the gift of God, yet there are times when the enemy would steal it away, and the throbbing brain knows no quiet. You cry, "Oh, that I could sleep!" and it is a bad symptom when the sufferer says, "I cannot sleep." But mark this: the wolf may sleep, but it is a wolf still, and the carnal mind is enmity against God at all times. Those attacks upon your body and mind are the ravening of wolves, and what sort of sympathy can a lamb expect from wolves? Be not disappointed, for you know your surroundings and you know your mission. It is the part of the Shepherd to protect His sheep from the wolves, and our glorious David, while a lamb still lives, is able to rescue it from the jaws of the lion and the paws of the bear. Though you feel your mind is far from rest and safety, and these disturbances drive sleep from your eyes like the frost by night, He comes after such desperately deluded ones.

Sleep, when it is given, is a suspension of the faculties, but not a destruction of the body, a quiet resting from toil. The poor limbs are weary, and the mind, even in this mortal state, can be held in His peace while the body sleeps. When night follows night with no sleep for you, you do not want anything to keep you awake; you long for it. Yet you never knew exactly when you went to sleep. It is when all idea of forcing slumber has gone from us that gradually we pass into a state of unconsciousness. So cease striving; the mind of the flesh is enmity, but He giveth His beloved sleep. Your body is a home, but we groan being burdened, and groan we shall till the day of our full redemption. Absent from the body, the spirit is present with the Lord, finding a rest infinitely better than any sleep. Until that day, the Lord Jesus comes after you. Though these attacks rage, He can bring you up from the lowest pit. Sleep on in His care, for your soul sleepeth not; you are His, and you shall rise to glory.
