We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent cry for protection from spiritual attacks. The enemy prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), and we recognize the very real warfare being waged against body and mind. These disturbances in sleep are not mere coincidence—they are tactics of the evil one to wear down the saints and disrupt communion with our Heavenly Father.
First, we must affirm that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, we put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. We gird ourselves with truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness, shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace, take up the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one, and wear the helmet of salvation, wielding the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).
We rebuke every assignment of the enemy against this dear one in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We declare that the blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24) and covers every area of vulnerability. The Lord will rebuke the devourer for your sake, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground (Malachi 3:11).
We pray for deep, restorative sleep, for He gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We bind every spirit of fear, anxiety, and torment, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We loose the spirit of adoption, by which we cry, "Abba, Father!" (Romans 8:15), and we declare that you are a child of the Most High God, seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).
We encourage you to stand firm in your identity in Christ. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Submit yourselves therefore to God, and draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Fill your mind with the Word of God, for it is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success (Joshua 1:8).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are our refuge and fortress, our God in whom we trust (Psalm 91:2). We lift up this precious child of Yours who is under spiritual attack. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your holy angels to encamp around them and deliver them from every evil work (Psalm 34:7, 2 Timothy 4:18).
Father, we plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, body, and spirit. We declare that no evil shall befall them, nor shall any plague come near their dwelling (Psalm 91:10). We break every curse, hex, or spell sent their way, for Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (Galatians 3:13). We cancel every assignment of the enemy and command every evil spirit to flee in Jesus' name.
Lord, grant them peaceful, undisturbed sleep. Let them lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord, make them dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8). Renew their strength like the eagle's, that they may mount up with wings, run and not be weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Fill them with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding, as their mind is stayed on You (Isaiah 26:3).
We ask that You would fill them afresh with the Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). Strengthen them with might by Your Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in their heart through faith (Ephesians 3:16-17). Let the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—be evident in their life (Galatians 5:22-23).
Father, we thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). If there is any area of sin or unconfessed iniquity that is giving the enemy a foothold, we ask that You would reveal it, that it may be confessed, repented of, and cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10).
We declare that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). We take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.
Lord, we thank You that You are our light and our salvation—whom shall we fear? You are the strength of our life—of whom shall we be afraid? (Psalm 27:1). We trust in You, O Lord; we say, "You are our God." Our times are in Your hand (Psalm 31:14-15). We commit this dear one into Your loving care, knowing that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
