We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for protection from harmful and aggressive enemies. The Bible assures us that God is our refuge and fortress, a very present help in times of trouble. In Psalm 91:1-4, we read, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.' For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart."
Father, we stand in the gap for our brother or sister in Christ who is facing threats and aggression. We ask You to surround them with Your heavenly hosts, Lord. Command Your angels to encamp around them, to guard them in all their ways, as it is written in Psalm 91:11-12, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone." Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned, for this is their heritage as Your servants, as declared in Isaiah 54:17.
We rebuke every spirit of fear, intimidation, and violence in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that no harm will come near their dwelling, for You, O Lord, are their keeper. You neither slumber nor sleep, and You are watching over their life continually, as Psalm 121:3-7 reminds us, "He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul."
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for them, Lord. Grant them the ability to recognize the schemes of the enemy and to walk in the path of righteousness. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, as Philippians 4:7 tells us. May they find comfort in Your promises and strength in Your presence.
Father, if there is any unforgiveness, bitterness, or unconfessed sin in their life that may be giving the enemy a foothold, we ask that You reveal it to them. Lead them to repentance and restoration, for we know that the enemy seeks to devour, but You have given us the authority to resist him, steadfast in the faith, as 1 Peter 5:8-9 instructs, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings."
We also pray for their enemies, Lord. Soften their hearts and turn them from their ways. Let them come to know the love and salvation that is found only in Jesus Christ. As Romans 12:20-21 says, "Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head. Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Heavenly Father, we trust in Your mighty power to protect and deliver. We declare that our brother or sister is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them, as Romans 8:37 assures us. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them walk in the victory that You have already won for them on the cross. We thank You for hearing our prayer and for Your unfailing love and protection. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
