The Sin of Gossip
Gossip destroys lives and reputations, so we must refuse to spread or listen to it.
The Busybody
Meddling in others' lives harms them and yourself, so focus on helping rather than judging.
The Power of Kindness
Kindness disarms conflict and wins hearts when harsh words only deepen wounds.
We stand with you in this time of anxiety at work and we bring your need for protection before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus' name.

We know how painful and harmful gossip can be. The tongue has great power and the Lord takes how we use our words very seriously. Scripture warns us, A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends. Proverbs 16:28 and For lack of wood a fire goes out. Without gossip, a quarrel dies down. Proverbs 26:20 and Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies. Psalm 34:13 Those who are gossiping about you are not walking in love and we pray that the Lord will convict their hearts and bring that whispering to an end.

We also want to remind you that the Lord sees all that is done in secret, He knows the truth about your work and your character, and He is your true protector and provider. No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh's servants, and their righteousness is of me, says Yahweh. Isaiah 54:17 and He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2 Your job is ultimately in His hands, not in the hands of gossip, and we pray you will find peace in that truth.

We pray now together for you. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You who is feeling vulnerable and afraid of losing their job because of the words of coworkers. Lord, we ask You to place a hedge of protection around them at their workplace. Silence every false tongue and let truth prevail. Expose gossip for what it is and bring conviction to those who participate in it. Give this dear one favor with their supervisors and let their work speak for itself, that even while they are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse their good way of life in Christ. 1 Peter 3:16 Help them to continue to work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23 Give them wisdom to not retaliate or return gossip for gossip, but to be still and let You fight for them, for Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still. Exodus 14:14 Guard their heart from fear and anxiety and provide for all their needs according to Your riches. We ask for job security if it is Your will, and for Your perfect will to be done in their employment. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk with integrity, to do your work diligently and honestly as unto the Lord, and to not engage in returning gossip. If possible, speak the truth in love when confronted, and if the gossip becomes slander that threatens your employment, consider going quietly and respectfully to a supervisor with facts and grace. Above all, entrust yourself to Him who judges righteously.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and our prayers are heard. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus, and to come to God the Father in His name alone.

We will continue to pray that the Lord shields you, quiets the gossip around you, secures your job in His will, and gives you peace that passes understanding as you trust in Him.

We hear how heavy this feels when talk around you at work makes you worry about your job. It is hard to concentrate when you are wondering what is being said and whether it will affect how you are seen.

We are standing with you in prayer for protection and steadiness there. Gossip can feel powerful, but your daily faithfulness at work still matters. One thing that often helps in this kind of season is to keep your focus on what is in your hands. Continue to do your work with care, keep a simple private record of your assignments and when you complete them, and avoid being pulled into answering gossip with more talk. If there is a trusted supervisor, a brief calm check in about your responsibilities can also bring clarity without escalating things.

You are not alone in this, and God sees both your effort and your concern. We are asking Him to give you peace as you walk through each workday and wisdom for each conversation.

Father, we lift up our friend to You and ask for Your covering over their job. Guard their reputation, quiet what is untrue, and give them favor and steadiness before coworkers and managers. Grant wisdom to respond with grace and strength to keep doing good work. Lead them and keep them in Your care. In Jesus name, amen.

It is a painful trial to have your good name tossed to and fro by the tongues of others, and to feel that your daily bread itself may be put in hazard thereby. This is an affliction which Job knew full well. His friends spoke harshly of him and charged him foolishly, yet the testimony of the Lord concerning him was that in all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Take comfort then that the Lord sees and hears all that is spoken in secret and in the workplace, and not one whisper is hidden from Him. He who upheld Job under loss and slander is able to support you also. When Job was brought very low, what did he do but arise and tear his mantle and fall down upon the ground and worship. In all this he sinned not. So let your first resort be worship and patient trust, and let no unworthy speech pass your lips in return. Many sin by unbelieving speeches when provoked, but grace teaches a man to keep right with God even when men deal wrongly with him.

Remember also how the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. They had spoken exceedingly harshly of him, yet he made intercession for them, and in his praying for those who had condemned him his own deliverance came. Do not restrain prayer before God, but bring your coworkers before the throne of grace. Pray for those who gossip against you, that the Lord would show them their error and bring them to a better mind, and pray for yourself that you may be kept with a clean conscience and a quiet spirit.

We will pray with you and for you now.

O Lord our God, who did but display the skirts of Thy robe to Job and yet he saw Thee and was humbled, look upon this Thy servant in this time of trial at work. Thou knowest the words that are spoken against him and the fear that presses upon his heart concerning his employment. Keep him from sinning with his lips, and uphold him with Thy divine support as Thou didst uphold Job. Let truth prevail over gossip, and let integrity be his defense. Cover his place of labor with Thy providence, and if it be Thy will, preserve his job and give him favor in the eyes of those set over him. Give him wisdom to walk uprightly, to answer with meekness, and to commit his cause unto Thee who judgest righteously. And as he prays for those who speak against him, turn his captivity and cause Thy peace to rest upon him. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and righteousness we ask it. Amen.

Though the night may hang its darkness for a season, our sorrows have an end when God has gotten His end in them. Satan would foil you if he can, but God will be glorified in your patience. Keep close to Christ, do your work faithfully as unto the Lord, and leave your vindication in His hands who will surely bring forth thy righteousness as the light.
