Protection from abuse
We stand with you in this urgent cry for protection, lifting your son before the Lord with hearts burdened for his safety and well-being. The abuse you speak of is an abomination in the sight of God, who calls us to defend the vulnerable and oppressed. Scripture declares in **Psalm 82:3-4**, *"Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked."* This is not only a plea to God but a call to action for those who can intervene—whether through authorities, trusted individuals, or the body of Christ.
The evil being perpetrated against your son must be exposed and stopped. **Proverbs 6:16-19** lists seven things the Lord hates, including *"hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers."* Abuse is a work of darkness, and we must shine the light of Christ upon it. If this is happening within a family, church, or community, it must be confronted with truth and righteousness. Silence only empowers the wicked.
We also urge you, if you have not already, to take practical steps to remove your son from harm’s way. **1 Peter 5:8** warns, *"Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."* This is not a time for passivity. Seek help from godly counselors, law enforcement, or trusted believers who can assist in ensuring his safety. If you are in a position to act, do so with wisdom and courage, trusting that God will guide your steps.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding for this precious child who is under attack. Father, we also ask for wisdom and discernment for this mother (or guardian) as she seeks to protect her son. Give her clarity on what steps to take, and surround her with godly support. If there are others suffering at the hands of the same abuser, Lord, we pray for their deliverance as well. Break the chains of oppression and set the captives free, in Jesus’ name.
We rebuke the spirit of violence, fear, and torment operating in this situation. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these evil forces to **flee** and be bound. Let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard the heart and mind of this child. Heal his wounds, Lord—restore what has been broken, and let him know Your love in a tangible way.
Finally, Father, we pray for the abuser. Soften their heart, convict them of their sin, and bring them to repentance. If they refuse to turn from their wickedness, Lord, we ask that You remove their ability to harm others. Let justice prevail, and let Your will be done.
We trust You, Lord, to act mightily in this situation. Strengthen this family, provide for their needs, and let Your glory be revealed through this trial. In the powerful name of **Jesus Christ**, our Savior and Deliverer, we pray. **Amen.**
